I NEED HELP!! Now more than ever before there is a need for mental health counseling. The psychosocial stressors caused by the pandemic - the physical risks, the daily disruptions, uncertainty, social isolation, financial loss - coupled with feelings of helplessness, hopelessness (all known to affect mental health and thereby physical health) are legend. In my practice I see individuals, couples, and children ages 8 through the teenage years. I've had much success with parents reaching out for help with their children who are experiencing the same psychological toll of the unnatural circumstance of isolation at home.
I'm a big believer in family systems and I work to include any and all systems impacting my patients, including family members, schools, workplaces. With more focus on diversity and the struggle of young people with gender dysphoria and gender identity issues there is a real need to treat this often underserved population.
We all need understanding. We need to be heard. I strive to see my patients through their eyes, learn their world views, and practice active listening. I want to 'wear the shoes' of my patient I am treating. I try to uncover the causes of your suffering, but your efforts are crucial. I teach you, and you teach me. I hope you will let me help!
