I used CBT which connects the dots from thoughts, emotions, and behavior.
I work with teenagers and young adults who struggle with depression, anxiety, or other mental hurdles that make it challenging to get through the normal, day-to-day routine. I provide a safe and calm environment to make it comforting when opening up about trauma or any past challenging events that led them to where they are today. Together, we can set long-term and small-term goals and look at taking small steps to get there. I meet clients where they are at by pointing out their strengths and accomplishments. It's important to work through some of the barriers so that you feel more confident in moving forward.

My primary modality of psychotherapy stems from the psychodynamic and interpersonal perspectives, although I also employ cognitive behavioral and existential techniques.
My successful clients are active psychotherapy participants who are dedicated and motivated for change. Introspective, he/she thinks about therapy outside of the office and attempts to use the knowledge and insight gained to improve relationships, goals, and life satisfaction. At times, psychotherapy requires difficult work from both the therapist and client, and the outcome is predicated by the mutual effort vested in the therapeutic process.

I tend to utilize cognitive behavioral therapy in my sessions, which is a way to make changes to a person's thoughts by looking at how realistic they are.
I enjoy working with a wide array of people, with many different presenting problems. Over the course of my career I've been lucky to have done therapy work in several different settings, and consequently I like to take on a bit of everything. I want to make people feel open and comfortable with talking about whatever kinds of problems they might have.

I use a combination of CBT, ACT, psychoeducation, and narrative therapy, but always tailor my approach carefully to every client and their particular struggles and strengths.
At its best, therapy is a space for intense self-discovery and exciting exploration. It is often true that the things we struggle with most lead us to encounters with our deepest values, and I am inspired by the way in which struggle can be transformed into strength and groundedness through careful, sensitive work. As a therapist, I’ll help you see the parts of you (your strengths, your challenges, your patterns) that have been invisible to you until now. After successful therapy, it should feel like you are seeing yourself clearly for the first time.

In providing a Humanistic perspective through a combination of Depth, Person-Centered, and Cognitive Behavioral techniques, you can achieve a more fundamental understanding of your purpose in life.
Who listens to you? Perhaps your relationships are strained, or you're going through a major life transition. Trauma, marriage, births, divorce, career changes, and death are just some major life changes that emotionally trap and isolate us. If you've realized only you can make needed changes, then now is the time to take action. I work with individuals, directly focusing on working through and integrating events, helping accepting a new identity, and encouraging strengths to achieve goals. Life hits hard, know yourself, and learn to overcome and conquer your fears.

I use techniques/skills from solution-focused, ACT, cognitive-behavioral, and dialectical behavior therapy (among others) for the process of self-discovery and to help change relationships with habits of thinking, feeling, and behavior, in the context of a compassionate and understanding therapeutic relationship.
None of us make it through life unscathed. We all need someone to be present, to listen, to help find solutions, to challenge our personal narratives and behaviors, and to walk with us through cdifficult times. I focus on creating a safe and warm space for self-discovery and to evaluate patterns of how one engages with self and others, to find new skills to cope with stress, to create a non-judgmental place for developing self-compassion and to meet your goals for change. If you are motivated for change, ready to explore your patterns of thinking, feeling, and behaviors, this might be the ideal time to seek therapy.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT) Therapists

How does cognitive behavioral therapy work?

Cognitive behavioral therapy works by exploring how your thoughts affect your emotions and experiences. CBT helps you identify distortions in your thinking. For example, you may tend to jump to the worst case scenario catastrophizing or think in extremes (all-or-nothing thinking). A therapist can teach you how to push back against those thoughts to ultimately change your feelings and behavior for the better. They can also provide coping skills to better deal with stressors and challenges.

When do I know to seek treatment with cognitive behavioral therapy?

It’s reasonable to consider cognitive behavioral therapy if you struggle to manage difficult emotions or behaviors to such an extent that you are not getting the most out of life on a day-to-day basis. If you want a shorter term, concrete, skills-based approach, CBT is a great option. (By contrast, other types of therapy may devote more time to exploring your past and its effects.) The decision to seek CBT also depends on the condition you’re treating; CBT is an effective treatment for anxiety, depression, trauma, and many other disorders.

How can I find a cognitive behavioral therapist for someone else?

To find a cognitive behavioral therapist for someone else, you may want to begin by discussing the person’s problem, researching cognitive behavioral therapy, and assessing whether the approach is the right fit. You could then reach out to a few cognitive behavioral therapists in this directory, explain the scenario, have a consultation with those available, and determine who could be a good match.

Why is CBT such a popular form of therapy?

CBT has become a popular form of therapy because it is effective and accessible. Robust research has demonstrated that CBT is an effective treatment for many mental health conditions. And CBT can be learned in relatively few sessions, which means that many people can engage in the process, afford it, and see results quickly. It involves learning concrete skills such as disputing unhelpful thoughts; these skills can also be taught and spread widely.
