These effective methods include conscious awareness techniques, inner child work, cognitive behavioral therapy, hypnotherapy, guided visualization to heal and connect on the deepest level.
Do you want to live your life as who you truly are rather than who you think you ‘should’ be? Overcome the thoughts that tell you you're not enough, aren’t deserving or that there’s something wrong with you. Release old patterns that take you to the same places, relationships and feelings over and over again. Heal your past, relieve anxiety and fear and feel happier, more peaceful and powerful, more confident and inspired. Feel more deeply connected, - body, mind and spirit. Fulfill your passions, your divine purpose and live the life you are truly meant to live. The power to bring these changes into your life is within you

My work draws from many therapeutic approaches and techniques including TF-CBT, DBT, IFS, client-centered therapy, and narrative therapy.
I provide individual therapy for preteens, teens, and young adults, and I am passionate about working with survivors of abuse and trauma and LGBTQIA+ youth. I believe a collaborative, therapeutic relationship between client and therapist is a strong catalyst for progress and healing in therapy. I value meeting a client where they are at, following their pace, and focusing on their strengths while supporting them in identifying solutions. I provide an empathetic, compassionate, and supportive atmosphere for clients with a judgment-free and supportive approach.

I incorporate a variety of evidence-based modalities, such as Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT), mindfulness-based CBT, Exposure and Response therapy (ERT), strengths-based & narrative therapy, and trauma-informed care.
Hi, I'm Laura. I'm a licensed independent clinical social worker who provides treatment for anxiety disorders, obsessive compulsive behavior, depression, life transitions, and more. Whether online or in-person, each of my clients are met with an empathic and non-judgmental approach. As a provider, I recognize the isolation and debilitation that comes with experiencing a mental illness. Thus, I aim to acknowledge, validate, and advocate for the experiences of each client. I provide individual counseling that focuses on the whole person. My approach is to consider all aspects of a person's life in the healing process.

With advanced training in neuropsychology including the use of cognitive assessments and electroceuticals, I can often help in situations where talk therapy alone falls short.
I help individuals, couples, and families discover a new and more complete understanding of themselves, their thoughts, feelings, and relationships. I work from an existential-humanistic orientation, which is just a fancy way of saying that I believe every person is unique, valuable, and has purpose. For many people, discovering that purpose is the difference between a satisfying life and an empty one. For others, fulfilling their purpose gets messy and hard. In both cases (and many others) it can be helpful to talk it all through with a trusted therapist.

Drawing on a range of evidence-based practices, including Internal Family Systems, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and Choice Theory, we will help you move forward and become the person you were always meant to be.
You are full of potential... but you are not living the life you want. Maybe you have experienced trauma or struggle with anxiety and depression. You might feel trapped in a cycle of negative thinking, painful emotions, and failing relationships. A part of you may carry burdens of shame, anger or sadness. No matter how bad things seem, there is a part of you that knows change is possible.

I offer a welcoming space to explore how disorienting transitions, loss, intense challenges and illnesses can hold within them the possibility for profound personal transformation, renewed vitality, and deeper connections. It was my own journey with chronic illness that began in my twenties that evolved into a calling to support others in their healing. Since 2008, I have worked as a licensed naturopathic physician, health coach, author, educator, and now mental health counselor. My personal and professional experiences have engendered an embodied compassion and humility for the ways in which life can bring us to our knees.

Simply put, being human is hard. When we experience loneliness, depression, fear, or disconnection, our relationships to others and to our true selves can become closed off, leaving us feeling isolated and in pain. In those moments of hardship there is immense power and courage in reaching out. Therapy can be a safe haven to process past experiences that have caused harm, address relationships that are in crisis, and find a way to reconcile loss. We can also use counseling to explore your values and how your life is lining up with those values, or missing the mark.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT) Therapists

How does cognitive behavioral therapy work?

Cognitive behavioral therapy works by exploring how your thoughts affect your emotions and experiences. CBT helps you identify distortions in your thinking. For example, you may tend to jump to the worst case scenario catastrophizing or think in extremes (all-or-nothing thinking). A therapist can teach you how to push back against those thoughts to ultimately change your feelings and behavior for the better. They can also provide coping skills to better deal with stressors and challenges.

When do I know to seek treatment with cognitive behavioral therapy?

It’s reasonable to consider cognitive behavioral therapy if you struggle to manage difficult emotions or behaviors to such an extent that you are not getting the most out of life on a day-to-day basis. If you want a shorter term, concrete, skills-based approach, CBT is a great option. (By contrast, other types of therapy may devote more time to exploring your past and its effects.) The decision to seek CBT also depends on the condition you’re treating; CBT is an effective treatment for anxiety, depression, trauma, and many other disorders.

How can I find a cognitive behavioral therapist for someone else?

To find a cognitive behavioral therapist for someone else, you may want to begin by discussing the person’s problem, researching cognitive behavioral therapy, and assessing whether the approach is the right fit. You could then reach out to a few cognitive behavioral therapists in this directory, explain the scenario, have a consultation with those available, and determine who could be a good match.

Why is CBT such a popular form of therapy?

CBT has become a popular form of therapy because it is effective and accessible. Robust research has demonstrated that CBT is an effective treatment for many mental health conditions. And CBT can be learned in relatively few sessions, which means that many people can engage in the process, afford it, and see results quickly. It involves learning concrete skills such as disputing unhelpful thoughts; these skills can also be taught and spread widely.
