I have been providing individual and family therapy for over 18 years by using a Person Centered approach and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy approach to provide empathy and an environment to empower others.
When I consider the relationship between a therapist and a client, I want to offer a supportive and nonjudgmental setting to allow a client to address their personal challenges by exploring their thoughts and emotions at their own pace. While gradually exploring additional layers of their concerns to allow them to find a path to a more authentic and satisfying life. I want to provide empathy for clients while empowering them in ways to grow and achieve their goals. I want those seeking comfort and support with their concerns, such as difficulties within their relationships, life stresses, past hurts, depression, anxiety & grief.

Through the use of talk therapy, ACT, CBT, EMDR and Sandtray therapy we will work together to face what is haunting you.
Are you looking to make a change in your life? Maybe you have been struggling with depression, anxiety, grief, unemployment, finances, or life in general. You are not alone. According to a survey conducted by Mental Health America in 2020 and published last year, 21% of American's are struggling with their mental health. What I do: provide emotional support to clients during their time of difficulty to aid in helping them cope with the hardships faced in life and know that they are not alone. With me, you can rest easy knowing that you will have a judgment-free space to be heard.

I am certified in Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) and Parent-Child Interaction Therapy (PCIT) and am trained in EMDR.
In need of a safe space to just “be?” Come on in. We all have times in our lives in which we feel lost, anxious, depressed, angry, scared, grief stricken, etc. Many of us go through traumatic experiences and loss in our lifetime. I believe therapy is for everybody at some point in their life for these reasons. Feeling supported by a therapist who will walk alongside you on your journey of healing in a judgment free environment can be invaluable.

I practice EMDR, TF-CBT, and I am a CFRC (Certifed First Responder Counseling) and work with addiction, relationship issues, high conflict work environments, and helping you find the confidence you need to "show up", know and be known in the fullness of who we you are.
Life can feel messy; and it is at times a place of stagnation, chaos, or just confusion. I challenge individuals to identify themselves, their passions, and to grow beyond the mask that life pushes us to wear as a means of protection or out of fear. It is in true authenticity that we find freedom and joy to move from isolation or bondage to freedom and fullness. It is in freedom where we no longer have to choose living in fear, rejection, pain, and/or competition but can chose to live with depth, substance, love, and understanding.

I have specializations in Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), EMDR, DBT, and TF-CBT.
I like to think I have a unique skill set coupled with life experience that equips me to be a dynamic therapist. I served as a Marine in the military, spent 20 years working in the pathology field looking at healing the body and now work with clients from 5 years to older adult healing the mind. Therapy is difficult to navigate and can feel messy for the whole system (friends, family, work, school, and more). I value your experience and how that has shaped core beliefs. Because we have these core beliefs, doesn't make them true. Let's assign new rules to these beliefs and heal the system as a whole both in body and mind.

I use Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
Do you ever experience having thoughts, images, or memories stuck in your head? Sometimes you may even experience reactions in your body, such as: heart beating fast, pressure in your chest, or a rock in your stomach. Sometimes people even feel like they are going numb. You do not have to live this way, there is a solution. Often, we manage things effectively, but occasionally we experience life events that can be disturbing to our system. Most of the time, our brain can digest the situations we encounter. However, sometimes those skills that have worked in the past are no longer helping.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT) Therapists

How does cognitive behavioral therapy work?

Cognitive behavioral therapy works by exploring how your thoughts affect your emotions and experiences. CBT helps you identify distortions in your thinking. For example, you may tend to jump to the worst case scenario catastrophizing or think in extremes (all-or-nothing thinking). A therapist can teach you how to push back against those thoughts to ultimately change your feelings and behavior for the better. They can also provide coping skills to better deal with stressors and challenges.

When do I know to seek treatment with cognitive behavioral therapy?

It’s reasonable to consider cognitive behavioral therapy if you struggle to manage difficult emotions or behaviors to such an extent that you are not getting the most out of life on a day-to-day basis. If you want a shorter term, concrete, skills-based approach, CBT is a great option. (By contrast, other types of therapy may devote more time to exploring your past and its effects.) The decision to seek CBT also depends on the condition you’re treating; CBT is an effective treatment for anxiety, depression, trauma, and many other disorders.

How can I find a cognitive behavioral therapist for someone else?

To find a cognitive behavioral therapist for someone else, you may want to begin by discussing the person’s problem, researching cognitive behavioral therapy, and assessing whether the approach is the right fit. You could then reach out to a few cognitive behavioral therapists in this directory, explain the scenario, have a consultation with those available, and determine who could be a good match.

Why is CBT such a popular form of therapy?

CBT has become a popular form of therapy because it is effective and accessible. Robust research has demonstrated that CBT is an effective treatment for many mental health conditions. And CBT can be learned in relatively few sessions, which means that many people can engage in the process, afford it, and see results quickly. It involves learning concrete skills such as disputing unhelpful thoughts; these skills can also be taught and spread widely.
