I utilize both cognitive behavioral therapy and mindfulness to spur talk of positive change that lead people to reach for something more for themselves.
I obtained my undergrad in Social Work at the University of North Carolina Wilmington after an honorable discharge from the Navy. I then completed her Masters of Social Work at Texas State University and quickly obtained my professional license in the state of Texas. I have a wide array of experience working in the mental health field, including working with children within child protective services, individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities, inpatient unit group therapy, and the veteran population.

I am dedicated to helping my diverse clients by using CBT, DBT, and other evidence based treatments to reach their goals.
Therapy is not a "one size fits all." Each person is unique, individual, autonomous and complex, we all face situations in a particular way, and that is why when going to a professional, care must be personalized for each individual.

My approach is primarily psychoanalytic/psychodynamic, but I also have expertise in cognitive-behavioral treatments for anxiety, including OCD and panic attacks.
You can't choose your family, but you can choose your therapist. If you're feeling overwhelmed, stuck or unfulfilled, it doesn’t have to be this way. I will partner with you in getting to the root causes of your symptoms, learning how to cope or recover, while motivating and empowering you to reach your optimal mental wellness. I am accepting new clients and can get you on the schedule within the week. If you are ready for something different, give me a call today.

I have experience in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), Cognitive Stimulation Therapy (CST), Solution Focused Therapy, Mindfulness, and various mood disorders, among others.
I enjoy the process of helping my clients, besides my vocation, it is my passion and I have been in the social work field for more than a decade. Through online therapy I have had the opportunity to help people both near and far from me. It's time that the fact of going to therapy stopped being stigmatized, so one of my goals is that the client feels comfortable during the process. Telling how we feel does not make us weak, on the contrary, it is the first and most important step to feel better, that is why at One Alkaline Life we have always focused on offering you the best to accompany you in your learning process.

My ideal clients would struggle with anxiety, depression, self worth issues, and cognitive distortions. Their needs would include help for their anxiety and depression, new and healthy coping skills, talk therapy, CBT, the practice of positive self talk and affirmations, and journaling coupled with behavioral therapy and interventions. These clients want to be heard because they feel as if they have no safe space for their emotions and no one who is there for them to talk to or listen to them and their struggles and feelings. These clients also oftentimes feel as if they are unheard, unworthy, and misunderstood.

I love cognitive behavioral intervention and the principles of motivational interviewing.
Just think of me as your "Behavioral Health Superhero". Superheroes see what's beneath the surface... what's behind your mask... the motivation behind your behavior. But that's not enough. Let's join forces so that you can discover these realities for yourself. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, is to discover your superpowers and learn to use them for your good. Here is where I come in. Together, we will practice the powers of forgiveness and embracing change. This will not come easy in today's society, with the world at our fingertips.

Cognitive Behavioral (CBT) Therapists

How does cognitive behavioral therapy work?

Cognitive behavioral therapy works by exploring how your thoughts affect your emotions and experiences. CBT helps you identify distortions in your thinking. For example, you may tend to jump to the worst case scenario catastrophizing or think in extremes (all-or-nothing thinking). A therapist can teach you how to push back against those thoughts to ultimately change your feelings and behavior for the better. They can also provide coping skills to better deal with stressors and challenges.

When do I know to seek treatment with cognitive behavioral therapy?

It’s reasonable to consider cognitive behavioral therapy if you struggle to manage difficult emotions or behaviors to such an extent that you are not getting the most out of life on a day-to-day basis. If you want a shorter term, concrete, skills-based approach, CBT is a great option. (By contrast, other types of therapy may devote more time to exploring your past and its effects.) The decision to seek CBT also depends on the condition you’re treating; CBT is an effective treatment for anxiety, depression, trauma, and many other disorders.

How can I find a cognitive behavioral therapist for someone else?

To find a cognitive behavioral therapist for someone else, you may want to begin by discussing the person’s problem, researching cognitive behavioral therapy, and assessing whether the approach is the right fit. You could then reach out to a few cognitive behavioral therapists in this directory, explain the scenario, have a consultation with those available, and determine who could be a good match.

Why is CBT such a popular form of therapy?

CBT has become a popular form of therapy because it is effective and accessible. Robust research has demonstrated that CBT is an effective treatment for many mental health conditions. And CBT can be learned in relatively few sessions, which means that many people can engage in the process, afford it, and see results quickly. It involves learning concrete skills such as disputing unhelpful thoughts; these skills can also be taught and spread widely.
