Waitlist for new clients
As a person, young person, or family member it is common to feel anxious about the challenges of mental health, recovery, codependency, and relapse.
Waitlist available for prospective new clients. I understand that mental health and substance use offer challenges to individuals and families, sometimes requiring outside help to overcome these issues. I provide you as a client with a safe, nonjudgmental space to enhance self discovery and skill building to lead to a healthy lifestyle. My goals for all of my clients include building on effective life skills, learning new coping skills that empower you to reach your goals, processing past traumas to change core beliefs about yourself and the world, and overall feeling respected as a human being through the therapy process.

I can help you find the skills/strategies that will best help you with whatever is going on in your life - stress, anxiety, depression, grief, boundaries, codependency, OCD, trauma .
Stressed out? Overwhelmed? Wondering how to find your way back to a life you enjoy living instead of just going through the motions? As adult women we tend to take on too much and put everyone and everything before ourselves. We often feel depleted and want life to be different, but we keep doing the same thing. As a college student, stress and unhealthy relationships become your norm. As a teenager, insecurities, stress, and social media put you on a path filled with anxiety, depression, and self doubt. I'd like to help you get back on track, find some inner peace amidst all the chaos, and have fun along the way.

I have special interest in working with those who experienced childhood abuse, sexual trauma, disassociation (including Dissociative Identity Disorder), codependency, and people walking through difficult seasons of life involving grief, loss, and adjusting to a new normal.
Accepting New Clients (in-person and telehealth). For the last 31 years I have had the privilege of walking with individuals and families through some of their most difficult times; trusted with their personal stories and pain. But through these journeys, I have witnessed miracles of growth and healing. Deciding to begin therapy can be a big step and it is important to work with a counselor you feel comfortable with. Therefore, I usually begin with a brief phone conversation where you are able to ask questions before scheduling an appointment. Now offering Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) and DBT.

My value is in asking questions, listening, and drawing connections between your past experiences and present circumstances. Sometimes it's more about how we cope with events than what has actually happened. My job is to help you identify what isn't working and replace it. I act as a sounding board and challenge faulty thought patterns. This plays out with alcoholism, addiction, depression, grief, and codependency.

I believe each client is unique and different and should be exposed to a powerful individual experience in the therapeutic process. Every client possesses strengths and abilities and as a therapist I assist them in identifying and implementing their strengths and abilities to help transcend positive healthy balance and change within in lives. As a LPCS that specializes in substance abuse, dual diagnosis, and depression. I utilized Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to teach individuals how to recognize moods, thoughts, and situations that stimulate unwanted emotions.

My ideal client would be someone who is prepared to complete tasks that are agreed upon in-session between the client and the therapist. The client would complete these tasks, on their own, away from the session, and would review the results in the next weekly session. I believe that any change that is made in a client's life, even the tiniest, has the potential to be a positive force for overall change. These series of small changes can build momentum, session to session, that ultimately empowers the client to live the life that they want to live. I believe in the power of therapy to provide recovery for anyone who tries.

Hey Family! Whether my work with individuals, couples or families, many of the people who I do work with want help with unblocking emotional expressions, fostering open communication in their relationships and/ or helping with being and feeling fully human. A lot of my clients desire authenticity in the therapy room and we work together using creative interventions to reach the goals they set.

Why me? Why did/do I have to experience ____, be born with _____, and ultimately live with _____???? You've probably tried everything you know; positivity, praying, ignoring or burying the feelings, talking about the experience, maladaptive behaviors (shopping, sex, substances, ANYTHING to keep your mind off of what is), and you may have even tried therapy. Either way, you're here now which means something in you believes it is time and you are ready for positive change. You decide the destination or goal and I walk alongside you on the journey. Through reiki and/or therapy, we can get where you want to be. Healthy..why NOT you?

Throughout our lives we collect memories and experiences and sometimes we just need space; space to breathe, process, exist - let's see what we can do with the space provided for you. Someone who would come to see me might be experiencing transitional periods, anxiety, relationship conflicts, grief, or trying to reconnect and understand themselves more. For whatever reason you are seeking out therapy, I hope you find a therapist who helps you when you are ready.

Codependency Therapists

What therapy types help with codependency problems?

Both couples and family therapy and cognitive and behavioral therapy (CBT) can help with the relationship difficulties referred to as codependency. Such problems typically include inappropriate feelings of responsibility for a loved one’s destructive behavior, irrational patterns of thinking about such behavior, and family interaction patterns in which the needs of one troubled member override the needs of others in a household.

What happens in therapy for codependency?

Spouses and family members learn and practice how to interact and support each other in a healthy way without sacrificing their own needs or well-being. They learn the limits of their responsibility for their loved ones and correct faulty patterns of thinking and feeling that underlie codependent behavior. Individuals may be encouraged to nurture an array of social relationships and to cultivate their own talents and interests so that they develop a healthy sense of self outside the family.

How does therapy help a person or couple overcome codependency?

Therapy helps people establish healthy ways of being in a relationship. Spouses and family members learn how to nurture and support one another without sacrificing their own needs or allowing the needs of one person to dominate the dynamic. Individuals learn how to say no and set boundaries, and how to maintain their own identity and self-esteem. Therapy helps people understand that they are not responsible for the feelings and actions of others. It also helps individuals deal with the turbulence that can come from living with a person suffering from such conditions as substance abuse and mental illness.

What is the goal of therapy for codependency?

One goal of therapy for codependency is to alleviate feelings of responsibility for and correct irrational patterns of thinking about loved ones whose behavioral problems override the needs of others in a household. Therapy helps people establish healthy boundaries of behavior and speak up for their own needs in a relationship. In addition, people learn how to maintain a healthy relationship, one in which both parties give and receive equally and are able to retain their own identity.
