Change is difficult, but it is possible. I help people identify the changes they want to make and support them in their journey toward their goals. I use a holistic and flexible approach that is designed to meet the needs of the individual. I am direct yet gentle and I challenge clients to trust and listen to themselves. I believe that living in the moment, known as mindfulness, is one of the most helpful tools that we have available to help us to learn how to foster compassion for ourselves and others, quiet our fears, identify what is important, and create the life we want.
I have a wide range of experience and training including Internal Family Systems, EMDR, and Sensorimotor Psychotherapy. I regularly attend workshops on trauma, eating disorders, ethics, addictions, and suicide. I encourage the use of creative activities such as yoga, exercise, knitting, art, music, expressive and creative writing, and journaling.
Books I recommend: "Radical Acceptance" by Tara Brach, "Transforming the Living Legacy of Trauma" by Janina Fisher, "The Body Keeps the Score" by Bessel van der Kolk, “The Covert Passive-Aggressive Narcissist” by Debbie Mirza, and "Codependent No More" by Melodie Beatty. I also highly recommend Tara Brach's podcasts, which focus on mindfulness and healing.
