Currently accepting new clients for telehealth. I’m here to offer space for a collaborative environment that we create together based around shifts you want to feel in your life. I have focused my work supporting queer and trans folks in various areas of life. Using a trauma-sensitive framework, I hope to support folks in bringing awareness to how emotions, trauma, conflict (and more) are showing up in the body. I hope to encourage curiosity, compassion, and groundedness towards an individual’s system- however that may look and feel right for you.

Looking within oneself to fully understand your situation is the best way to move forward, because it helps you develop a comprehensive plan and manageable, achievable goals. I am a licensed clinical social worker with more than 15 years of experience working with couples, families, adolescents, adults, and children. I graduated from Simmons College of Social Work with a master's degree, and enthusiastically work to help my clients make lasting, visible changes. Together, we can uncover new ways to make meaningful change, by identifying weaknesses and strengths and developing a plan.

Over the course of my career as a clinical social worker, I have focused my work on providing LGBTQI-affirming psychotherapy to individuals who have experienced trauma, in its many interpersonal and systemic forms. As a white queer nonbinary femme therapist, I continue to educate myself on the privileges and power dynamics inherent in my own social position in relation to my clients, and I openly work from an anti-oppression framework.

Pain is a choice; trust me, it is. We are often stuck in our past relationships, relationships with parents, with lovers earlier in our life... These relationships informed who we are and how we interact with others and the world, and perhaps even how we treat ourselves. We can be oblivious to how we live our life based on these unseen maps imprinted on our minds. This is NOT who you REALLY are. The real you may be concealed in a dark box, crying to escape and be free. Do you sometimes feel miserable but do not understand why.

I specialize in couples therapy because I think it has the potential to be uniquely transformative. Unlike many other forms of therapy in which we talk about relationships, in couples therapy, the relationship is happening in the room. The desire for change is strong when we risk losing what we treasure most. In this high-stakes, dynamic space, we often feel inspired to take risks that lead to lasting change.

We are a multiethnic and multiracial group practice that centralizes care for BIPoC and LGBTQIA+ communities. Clients who come to us are working though life challenges related to their identities. They are often in a process of self-exploration, working to make sense of their place and identity in the world where they are made to feel like "the other" and have been marginalized, traumatized, and blatantly microaggressed. We recognize the importance of finding providers who get it, from a shared and lived experience. Here, our aim is connect communities of color and queer communities with providers of color and queer providers.

I offer knowledgeable and affirming relationship and identity support to queer, trans, kinky, and polyamorous clients. I'm a nonbinary lesbian who is passionate about serving LGBTQIA+ clients. I come from a sex-positive, trauma-informed, and pleasure-focused perspective. I value the mind-body connection and can use a body-oriented approach to help you navigate how mental health symptoms manifest in the body, how trauma shows up in a dysregulated nervous system, and how we can cultivate relationships with our bodies to reconnect with the present through mindfulness, imagination, and play.

I have experience working with adults in recovery from substance use. I have found a deep affinity with the recovery community and feel honored to do that work. I also have years of experience working with youth in different capacities. My thesis in grad school focused on the intersection between Neurodiversity and LGBTQIA+ identities and how this intersection can inform a framework of Belonging as embodied praxis.

As a service provider for over 20 years, while having the pleasure of working with diverse populations, I have learned many valuable lessons are learned. As a service provider, more than the intent of creating positive change in the lives of those served may be needed. As a QTBIPOC service recipient and clinician, I understand the importance of having access to safe and affirming service spaces. Services that actively understand the power behind intersectionality. If services are inequitable for some, they fail all of us. Together we are strong.

Codependency Therapists

What therapy types help with codependency problems?

Both couples and family therapy and cognitive and behavioral therapy (CBT) can help with the relationship difficulties referred to as codependency. Such problems typically include inappropriate feelings of responsibility for a loved one’s destructive behavior, irrational patterns of thinking about such behavior, and family interaction patterns in which the needs of one troubled member override the needs of others in a household.

What happens in therapy for codependency?

Spouses and family members learn and practice how to interact and support each other in a healthy way without sacrificing their own needs or well-being. They learn the limits of their responsibility for their loved ones and correct faulty patterns of thinking and feeling that underlie codependent behavior. Individuals may be encouraged to nurture an array of social relationships and to cultivate their own talents and interests so that they develop a healthy sense of self outside the family.

How does therapy help a person or couple overcome codependency?

Therapy helps people establish healthy ways of being in a relationship. Spouses and family members learn how to nurture and support one another without sacrificing their own needs or allowing the needs of one person to dominate the dynamic. Individuals learn how to say no and set boundaries, and how to maintain their own identity and self-esteem. Therapy helps people understand that they are not responsible for the feelings and actions of others. It also helps individuals deal with the turbulence that can come from living with a person suffering from such conditions as substance abuse and mental illness.

What is the goal of therapy for codependency?

One goal of therapy for codependency is to alleviate feelings of responsibility for and correct irrational patterns of thinking about loved ones whose behavioral problems override the needs of others in a household. Therapy helps people establish healthy boundaries of behavior and speak up for their own needs in a relationship. In addition, people learn how to maintain a healthy relationship, one in which both parties give and receive equally and are able to retain their own identity.
