“Rarely, if ever, are any of us healed in isolation. Healing is an act of communion.” – bell hooks The healing journey can be an intimidating path, and you don’t have to travel it alone. I believe that the role of a therapist is to walk beside you on your healing path. My top priority is to create a safe, accepting space where you can explore your inner landscape and develop skills to navigate your outer world. I am a trauma-informed, intersectional feminist who cares deeply about helping clients reclaim their power and reconnect to their voice.

Society can be overflowing with expectations, guilt, and shame…but it doesn’t have to. What would it be like if you understood and trusted that you are the expert on your life, your experiences, your relationships, your identity? What if you accepted your intrinsic value without toxic shame or isolation holding you back? Imagine a space where you are free from judgment and encouraged to explore your sexual, spiritual, and physical experience, to deconstruct toxic messages about your existence, and to find genuine fulfillment in your life.

As both a therapist and a fellow traveler of life, I know the complexity and challenges of being a human in this world. I believe our identities are our most precious assets, despite what society has conditioned us to believe. Because of my own queer identity, I am particularly delighted to support folks who identify as queer/LGBTQ+. My work is centered around helping clients reconnect with their inherent worth, heal the impact of the past, and learn to regulate. I will help you explore the life experiences and narratives that challenge you showing up exactly as you are, and guide you towards the healing and wellness you deserve.

At iAmClinic, our primary goal is to help the LGBTQ+ community and beyond establish internal solidarity, rooted identities, and long-term relational health. Each member of the iAmClinic team has experienced their own growth and healing, which fosters the excitement to offer the same life-changing process to those in our community. We created a safe place where people can share their stories, their pain, and their confusion, and what we’ve discovered most is that we created a place where people watch their lives change – a place where celebration happens and joy blossoms.

There is a way through this. We will find it together. I believe in the power of authentic expression and deep relationships. I incorporate contemplative, somatic, and social justice approaches in my counseling. I work with adults focusing on identity, gender, and relationships. I provide a collaborative approach utilizing mind-body and present moment awareness to support you in connecting with your intrinsic health and inherent wisdom. As meditator, dancer, and gardener I value time to reflect, slow down, be with nature, and developing our capacity to move from the heart with courage and gentleness.

Hoping to share space with QTBIPOC folks and support in processing past and present experiences that may be challenging to hold. I tend to veer away from a medical approach with an emphasis on diagnoses, and rather work to support folks in deepening their understanding of self and others, while exploring how to live in ways that feel meaningful.

Navigating the world can be murky, difficult and anxiety inducing. Clients come to me when they are overwhelmed with symptoms of anxiety and depression. Together we work to establish personal understanding and create a path forward that feels stable, clear and bright. I have a wide range of experience working with clients within the LQBTQIA+ community, along with those who have experienced trauma, depression, and anxiety. I work from an existential framework with anti-racist and queer affirming lenses.

Transformations often feel isolating and overwhelming; life-affirming changes may create distance from the people you care about. When we question ourselves, its hard to know where to turn for perspective. I love working with folks who see themselves as outside the gender and relationship mainstream; it takes a lot of courage and can also be painful to navigate. We can dig into what your identity means to you and how to embody it while building a life worth showing up for.

On the outside, it may look like you have it all together - the job, the family, the appearance. But on the inside you feel consumed by stress, anxiety, and perfectionism. You may have troubled intimate relationships, negative thoughts, and issues with eating and sleeping. Life may feel overwhelming and unfulfilling - like you can never get enough done or be "good enough." While your anxiety shows that you are someone who cares deeply, this stress can be harmful to your mind, body, and relationships in the long term. You wish for more joy, peace, and ease in your life and are ready to explore yourself more deeply to find it.

Codependency Therapists

What therapy types help with codependency problems?

Both couples and family therapy and cognitive and behavioral therapy (CBT) can help with the relationship difficulties referred to as codependency. Such problems typically include inappropriate feelings of responsibility for a loved one’s destructive behavior, irrational patterns of thinking about such behavior, and family interaction patterns in which the needs of one troubled member override the needs of others in a household.

What happens in therapy for codependency?

Spouses and family members learn and practice how to interact and support each other in a healthy way without sacrificing their own needs or well-being. They learn the limits of their responsibility for their loved ones and correct faulty patterns of thinking and feeling that underlie codependent behavior. Individuals may be encouraged to nurture an array of social relationships and to cultivate their own talents and interests so that they develop a healthy sense of self outside the family.

How does therapy help a person or couple overcome codependency?

Therapy helps people establish healthy ways of being in a relationship. Spouses and family members learn how to nurture and support one another without sacrificing their own needs or allowing the needs of one person to dominate the dynamic. Individuals learn how to say no and set boundaries, and how to maintain their own identity and self-esteem. Therapy helps people understand that they are not responsible for the feelings and actions of others. It also helps individuals deal with the turbulence that can come from living with a person suffering from such conditions as substance abuse and mental illness.

What is the goal of therapy for codependency?

One goal of therapy for codependency is to alleviate feelings of responsibility for and correct irrational patterns of thinking about loved ones whose behavioral problems override the needs of others in a household. Therapy helps people establish healthy boundaries of behavior and speak up for their own needs in a relationship. In addition, people learn how to maintain a healthy relationship, one in which both parties give and receive equally and are able to retain their own identity.
