My ideal client is someone who is seeking to learn and grow while keeping an open mind. Therapy can often be intimidating but as a clinician it is my job to offer support and guidance towards growth in resolving one's personal struggle. I am very passionate about working with people and believe strongly in empowering an individual to see strengths in order to overcome barriers. Life can be challenging sometimes. In my work, I try to provide a safe space where those challenges can be explored and new possibilities can be discovered. I work collaboratively to help you re-discover your strengths and use these to deal more effectively with your struggles. I have been working with individuals, couples, families and groups for 15-plus years. I have worked with a variety of problems and populations including, but not limited to: relationship issues, depression, anxiety, grief, self-esteem, life transitions, student coaching (individually and in group), (foreign) students, immigrants, acculturation problems.

We're all doing the best we can with what we have to work with. However, life is always changing, and the tools we were given in the past, may not be working for us in the present. Counseling can act as a software update for your mind, clearing out old ideas, unprocessed emotion, and beliefs, that are holding you back from reaching your goals. I use EMDR therapy and other evidence-based modalities in my work. If you want to live your life more than think about it, and if you want your past to stop showing up uninvited in the present; then you may benefit from this unique, innovative, and holistic form of therapy.

Making the decision to begin therapy can be difficult, and finding a therapist that's right for you is an important step. My therapy style involves, first and foremost, working to help you feel safe and supported as you go through the therapy process. We will work together to identify, understand and then address the issues that are causing you trouble in your life. I specialize in a number of patient concerns including anxiety, depression, coping with chronic illness and other medical concerns, coping with major life transitions, relationship issues, grief/loss, women's issues and stress management.

As a semi-retired practitioner, my aim is to provide affordable and effective counseling (not clinical therapy) to folks needing to get ‘unstuck’. Our focus will center largely on how to manage/enhance day to day challenges such as relationships, dealing with anxiety and depression, and rediscovery of your sense of purpose, meaning and direction in life. Our work together will be a collaborative process that builds on both your emerging insights and the application of concrete steps that lead you to making choices and taking steps that promote your ability to be happy in your life.
