I once read a story about a sea lion that somehow ended up in a barren desert. It was dry and parched and the closest thing resembling the sea was a mud puddle. He was sad and lost and knew he didn't belong, but he had been there so long and knew of nothing else, so he considered it "home". Too often, we find ourselves like this sea lion, living an unfulfilling existence, or in surroundings that aren't consistent with who we are. We passively accept our lot in life or sabotage efforts to live with passion and joy.

I also work a great deal with addiction and codependency in the family. As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, I see my job as helping people resolve these issues in collaborative, non-judgmental therapy sessions. I provide an environment where these problems can be explored and resolved. My approach is direct but respectful; giving clients practical skills and techniques that can change their lives.

A majority of people who struggle with substance use and behavioral addictions also suffer with co-occurring mental health issues like depression, anxiety, anger, or ADHD. Managing these co-occurring issues alone is not recommended. Some bounce back and forth from therapists to treatment centers for management, making no progress in the disconnected process. The recommended approach is co-occurring treatment, and I have helped hundreds of people recover their lives by helping them manage addiction while exploring, uncovering, and improving their inner lives and their relationships with others.
