I have been working in the mental health field for three years and in the non-profit health sector for eight. Our clinical work together is a collaborative practice that we work on together. It requires willingness and boundary setting. We also define our own set of rules for the relationship so we may talk or navigate though uncomfortable topics.

I came into the counseling field because I wanted to give back. Yes, I have had to deal with substance abuse and mental illness with myself and family. I had challenges getting help because no one would listen to me, they just wanted to tell me it was my childhood that was the problem. Well, it was not, it was a lifetime of challenge, bad choices and not knowing how to change, cope, deal with life. Hi there, I'm Kane. I'm a queer and gender-fluid therapist. I work with a range of clients including individuals, couples, hinge relationships, and polycules. I typically work with folks seeking a better understanding of themselves and their surroundings. We may be a good fit if you are looking for a blend of self discovery and more directive skills based approaches. I believe we are constantly balancing and negotiating between acceptance, validation, and change. My hope is for clients to gain insight into their current circumstances as well as to feel empowered with tools to manage stress, difficult emotions, and conflict.

We often feel like we didn't get the memo on how to “do” life. As a nonbinary, Trans person from the Midwest, who transitioned in their 40's I can relate. I’ve spent the better part of my adult life unlearning harmful messages and beliefs, and relearning who I am. You may think, "Do I need to be trans to have a trans therapist?" The answer is no, working with me everyone can expect a safe, authentic, and sometimes silly space (with pop culture references) where we collaborate to find real solutions that dismantle the toxic and oppressive messages, and find solutions unique to you, and peace that last a lifetime.

My goal as a therapist is to empower you to be your own best advocate. I want to help you identify your feelings, needs, wants, and resources- creating a space where all of you is welcome, seen, and respected.
