I take a holistic approach to counseling, evaluating the whole person from both their inner and outer characteristics. I believe both clinical and the spiritual dynamics of therapy go hand and hand, working in conjunction one with the other, it is from this idea that my therapeutic approach derives. I understand everyone may not share this idea or have this understanding, I will provide effective therapy to each case according to its uniqueness and needs. I seek to provide service with clinical professional competence, through a spirit of acceptance, empathy, compassion and respect for those I service.

My goal is to assist clients with strategies to handle their mental health in a positive way. I primarily use Cognitive Behavior Therapy to help clients deal with their daily thoughts about themselves. Another goal I have is for clients to live a fulfilling life without unnecessary things that consume their thoughts. Mental Health is the number one priority to a successful life.

James spent ten years providing outpatient services where he observed that mental illness and chemical dependence issues, otherwise known as “co-occurring disorders” were low priority. Agencies seldom have time and resources to focus on one or the other, let alone “both” sides of the mental health and substance dependence matter. James became a social worker to work for change, and this dichotomy was unacceptable. Reliance was born out of this frustration as a possible solution for the those that it is able to serve. Substance use, mental health, or spiritual change are all goals Reliance will seek to facilitate alongside you.

ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS, INTERNS AVAILABLE. I help individuals achieve success in recognizing how their traumatic experiences, mental health symptoms, or personal relationship issues can affect their mental wellbeing. I work with individuals ages 12 and up who are experiencing or have experienced trauma, struggling with peer or parental relationships, low self-esteem, etc. Furthermore, I assist families who have a current Child Protective Services case that could potentially lead to removal of children by offering parenting, anger management, communication and conflict resolutions skills in order to rebuild the family structure.
