BECOME THE PERSON,
PARTNER
, AND PARENT YOU WANT TO BE. There can be so much pressure to get everything right — parenting, marriage, work, health — and you may be left feeling depleted, overwhelmed, or guilty. These things impact how you see yourself and the people around you. They impact how you show up in your life. It doesn’t have to be this way. It may be time to cut through the noise and misinformation. With the right skills and support you can absolutely learn, heal, and become the person,
partner
, and parent you want to be.

Are you tired of arguing over and over (and over) the same marital issues? Do you feel stuck and "not heard," and alone? Together I can assist you with working towards positive dialogue rather than living in a state of "gridlock." Effective methods of how to communicate "soften start-ups" instead of harshness; methods to decrease defensiveness and criticism. Learning ways to build a friendship with each other again....and being a team in parenting. If it is divorce, I can assist you and your
spouse
through this difficult process.

We believe that feeling valued and being treated with respect are essential to building a positive
relationship
and therapy should be no different.
Let's be honest, therapy isn't the first choice for most people. If, however, you are in a place where this might seem like a good option, I'd appreciate the opportunity to work with you. Whether it is personal issues or you're having difficulties with your
spouse
, significant other, parent, or child(ren). Or, maybe you just need some support with a transition in life. I enjoy working with people from all walks and stages of life and while change is up to you, know that I'm willing to be in your corner along the way. In addition to myself, we have a team of 13 other providers ready and wiling to help in any way we can.

For over 25 years wives have told me that their husbands won't attend counseling. If "it's a waste of time" they won't come back. More often than not they don't believe that "talking" will change anything. My sessions are about identifying real issues and personalized tools. It is absolutely rewarding to see people create a
relationship
they never imagined! If you want your
spouse
to attend with you, ask them to attend ONE time. You will be surprised when they agree to return! And it's more convenient than ever attending my VIRTUAL sessions. My experience and ability to get to the core issues quickly is key to successful resolution.

Relationships are the foundation of our lives. Through the quality of our connections with those we care about, we can feel as though we are thriving or they can leave us feeling isolated and alone. Working to strengthen or rebuild connections with others and with ourselves is extremely important to creating a sense of support and acceptance. If our foundation feels secure and safe, we can then allow ourselves to thrive in other areas of our lives. I have special training in relational therapy and how to strengthen these "systems" and the influence they have on our lives.

My journey to becoming a therapist was anything but linear & evolved out of my personal commitment to holistic healing. Basically, I’ve spent my time on the couch as well & recognized in a profound way this “psychobabble” really does work! I believe healing happens when we are able to step out of our comfort zones & hold curiosity about ourselves from a bio-psycho-social-spiritual perspective within a safe supportive
relationship
(ok, humor is essential too). Client’s often say they feel “seen” by me at a depth others do not & I help put the puzzle pieces of experience together to “make sense" of their histories.

What if you woke up tomorrow and found yourself happier, healthier, and more connected to the world around you? Life can certainly leave us feeling disconnected and struggling to find happiness on our own. It does not have to be that way. Maybe you feel like you know where you want to go but are not certain how to start. I understand. Maybe anxiety has taken over at the worst possible moments, or overwhelming sadness has left you unable to get on with your day. I see you. Pain touches us all in a deeply personal way. And it provides connection by way of compassion, understanding, and validation.

Couples Counseling Therapists
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
