I also offer teen pregnancy/ family support.
I take an eclectic and individualized approach for each client that utilizes concepts from CBT, family systems, and solution focused therapy. I also incorporate concepts from art therapy, play therapy, and somatic experiencing in efforts to improve self-awareness, promote connection, and increase mindfulness. As a parent and professional who has worked in our community with families and educators for over a decade, I understand that each individual, family, and child is faced with unique complexities and stressors that must be addressed on multiple levels with sensitivity and understanding.

How's it going? I'm a counselor (LPC). I imagine you've come here because you are an individual, a parent of a child or adolescent , or a couple who's looking for a counselor. Why? Maybe you feel like you just can't escape personal feelings of inferiority or the ongoing effects of traumatic events of your past. Your behavior is hurting your relationships, and maybe you aren't even sure why. It could be that your day-to-day activities either stress you out or they no longer bring you meaning or joy. Or, maybe you just want to believe more in yourself and what you offer this world.

BECOME THE PERSON, PARTNER, AND PARENT YOU WANT TO BE. There can be so much pressure to get everything right — parenting, marriage, work, health — and you may be left feeling depleted, overwhelmed, or guilty. These things impact how you see yourself and the people around you. They impact how you show up in your life. It doesn’t have to be this way. It may be time to cut through the noise and misinformation. With the right skills and support you can absolutely learn, heal, and become the person, partner, and parent you want to be.

Life can be difficult and sometimes simply having someone to listen, really listen can be instrumental in navigating through those trying times.

In my therapeutic work, I endeavor to create an environment that allows my clients to center-out, to breathe, to explore, to undertake, to dare, to dream, to change course, and to reconnect. As a would-be-adventurer with a penchant for curiosities and the unknown, I look forward to embarking on uncharted paths with my clients. In journeying alongside my client, my hope is that upon reaching the trailhead of their path, they're able to look around and exclaim "everything is in its right place."

I am skilled at treating clients who are experiencing emotional and behavioral problems as a result of trauma, stress and interpersonal conflict. Clients struggling with addictions, poor self-esteem, depression, anxiety, self-defeating behaviors, and impulse control problems will find my services helpful. I appreciate clients who may not yet have identified their goals as I like the challenge of developing goals with my clients and seeing them grow and progress over the course of therapy.

I am a strengths-based therapist who believes every person has incredible resilience and the capacity to live in abundance. When we go through trauma as a child, we often disconnect from our true self and develop relational and behavioral patterns that take away our joy. If you are ready to do this brave work of remembering who you were created to be, I would be honored to walk with you on this part of your journey. Together, we will devise an individualized treatment plan to positively impact your mind, body, and spirit. I offer telehealth in Oklahoma and Colorado, specializing in trauma repair/recovery, depression, and anxiety.

Let's be honest, therapy isn't the first choice for most people. If, however, you are in a place where this might seem like a good option, I'd appreciate the opportunity to work with you. I enjoy working with people from all walks and stages of life and while change is up to you, know that I'm willing to be in your corner along the way. In addition to myself, we have a team of 13 other providers ready and wiling to help in any way we can.

For over 25 years wives have told me that their husbands won't attend counseling. If "it's a waste of time" they won't come back. More often than not they don't believe that "talking" will change anything. My sessions are about identifying real issues and personalized tools. It is absolutely rewarding to see people create a relationship they never imagined! If you want your spouse to attend with you, ask them to attend ONE time. You will be surprised when they agree to return! And it's more convenient than ever attending my VIRTUAL sessions. My experience and ability to get to the core issues quickly is key to successful resolution.

When people experience trauma, severe life stressors, or even experience change of any kind, it is not uncommon for their lives to unravel. My passion and greatest gift is bringing healing to people who have been through a traumatic/stressful experience. I help my clients, children, adults, and families, including the very young (ages 2-5), find healthy perceptions of themselves and strengthen their relationships so they can know themselves as restored, complete, whole, and safe.

Teen Therapists

What does therapy for teenagers look like?

When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.

How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?

There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.

How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?

It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.

How do you prepare teens for therapy?

You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
