My ideal client is someone dealing with trauma issues, stress, anxiety/social, mood issues, focus/attention, fatigue, addictions, TBI, stroke, chronic pain, reactivity, or nervous system issues. Many have tried therapy, medication, or other approaches and want support that works more directly with the brain and body. They are motivated for change and value a non-invasive, brain-based option that does not require reliving painful experiences. LENS supports brain health and nervous system regulation and is well suited for individuals with limited time seeking efficient progress. On average, clients complete LENS within 9-15 sessions.

You may have imagined this season of life would feel more joyful, more connected, or at least more manageable. But instead, you’re feeling overwhelmed, exhausted, or unsure of yourself. Maybe you’re navigating the rollercoaster of pregnancy or postpartum, and everything feels harder than you expected. Maybe you're struggling to feel bonded with your baby, or you find yourself losing your temper more than you’d like. Perhaps something unexpected or frightening happened—during birth, in your relationship, or in your own past—and now it’s getting in the way of feeling present with your child or confident in your parenting.

Imagine you have had the same problem or behavior recycling through your life for months, perhaps years. This could be anything from managing your emotions, accepting how traumatic events have shaped your life, addiction, conflict, how other people treat you/how you treat others, or simply taking ownership. Imagine your goal is to change the circumstance, flip the script on your life and find lasting change. I want to help people who want to learn why things are the way they are and to embrace new skills and tools to manage their lives. I use a combination of practical experience and research based skills to get you there.

“I hate school. I have no friends. My parents don’t get me. I’m always in trouble. I can’t do anything right. Life just sucks.” Every morning you put on a mask just to get through your day. No one understands what you are going through, and you feel alone in the world. Maybe you can’t remember the last time you truly felt happy or yourself. Or, something bad happened, and your memories continue to hold you captive. You want to feel better, but you’re scared to let someone into the dark places. Parents, you see your child’s pain and all you want for them is to be happy. You want your care-free kid back.

Hello. I'm Susan. I have five certifications from the Gottman Institute of Couples Therapy, on top of my three masters degrees. My couples are tired of fighting, and they’re tired of being disconnected. They are lonely, scared, sad, and angry that their vision of being coupled has not materialized. They feel unrecognized, and therefore unloved, by their partners. They may find communication is hindered by apathy or anger. Perhaps they’ve already decided to end things, and counseling is a last resort; or they are still committed to the relationship but know they need help.

Even the best mountain climbers need help to get to the top sometimes. The mountains of life look different for everyone--grief, trauma, anxiety, feeling lost--but one thing remains the same: they feel impossible. Imagine the bitter climb to the peak, full of scrapes and bruises, feeling like the steep twisting trail will never end. Picture yourself standing at the summit, filling your lungs with the sweet air of victory. See the treacherous trail behind you, and think to yourself “I did it!” No matter your mountain, you can feel that fresh breath filling your soul. You are a conqueror, and I’m honored to climb with you.

Testing and Evaluation Therapists
What is a psychological evaluation?
A psychological evaluation is a test or assessment most commonly administered by a trained psychologist that is intended to be used in the diagnosis of specific psychological conditions, such as ADHD, mood disorders, personality disorders, dementia or Alzheimer's, and learning disabilities. Psychological evaluations can help inform future treatment decisions and help direct clients to professionals and resources that may be most helpful, such as potential therapy options or additional school supports.
Can psychological evaluations be done on individuals of any age group?
Psychological evaluations are conducted on individuals of all ages and can be beneficial to individuals across the lifespan. However, specific types of evaluations may be most frequently conducted on individuals of certain age groups. For instance, ADHD or learning disability testing is often conducted in children ages 4-12--the period of time when ADHD symptoms most commonly emerge. In contrast, cognitive functioning assessments, such as those conducted to diagnose dementia, are most commonly conducted in elderly individuals. Clients should ensure that the psychologist they are seeing has specific expertise in conducting evaluations in their age group to ensure they receive a correct diagnosis.
How long does a psychological evaluation take?
Psychological evaluations vary in length depending on the test being administered and the goals of the evaluation; however, most evaluations are 2-4 hours in length. Some evaluations may take as long as 8 hours but can often be spread across multiple days. In some cases, clients will also attend an intake session or interview, which can help the psychologist assess client functioning outside of the testing environment.
How should I prepare for a psychological test and evaluation?
Individuals do not need to prepare for psychological tests or evaluations in most cases, as they are intended to measure a client's baseline psychological status without test-specific preparation. However, clients may want to brainstorm a list of questions for their psychologist about any tests they are receiving prior to the assessment, including what potential outcomes may mean for what next steps the client should take.
