As a LCSW my journey in the realm of therapy began with a passion for facilitating transformative change in the lives of individuals and couples. I embarked on this path, earning my master's degree driven by a desire to empower others in navigating life's challenges and rediscoveries. My professional odyssey has led me through diverse settings, from community-based environments to the intimacy of private practice. In each setting, I've had the privilege of walking alongside individuals and couples as they journey through transitions, confront relationship dynamic, wrestle with self-esteem and embark on the path of self-discovery.

Welcome! My approach to wellness is founded on compassion for the authentic self and attunement to the body's response to emotional states. For adults, the echoes of childhood abuse, neglect, abandonment, and complicated attachment can create turbulence in our adult bodies, minds, identity, and relationships.

I work with people who feel stuck—whether in their relationships, their careers, or their creative lives—and who sense there is something deeper asking for attention. Many of my clients are thoughtful, capable, and self-aware, yet find themselves repeating patterns, doubting themselves, or feeling disconnected from what truly matters. Therapy with me is a space to slow down, listen closely, and create meaningful change from the inside out.

Many of the clients we work with feel stuck in recurring emotional or relational patterns, carrying unresolved grief, anxiety, or a quiet sense of disconnection from themselves and others. There is often a deeper longing to understand what lies beneath these struggles and to live with greater authenticity, vitality, and meaning, rather than simply coping or pushing through. Together, we will create space to slow down, listen inward, and gently explore the patterns shaping your inner and relational world, opening the possibility for more freedom, connection, and a life that feels fully your own.

Who do you turn to when your partner has stopped acknowledging, considering, or appreciating you? When you’re afraid that you won’t get the kind of love you need? Or the kind of respect you crave from your family or partner? Do you notice that the more you try to achieve these things, you feel more distant? Maybe there’s a recent change in your family that you didn’t see coming. You want to stay emotionally connected with them but you notice yourself drifting away. You desperately want a deep connection, to know you’re doing the right thing.

I can help you tell the difference between the misleading voice in your head and the voice of your true self. The people who enjoy working with me are looking for a change. What brings us to counseling is often pain. Pain can be called depression, anxiety, relationship issues, addiction or a myriad of other names, but good therapy can transform pain into insight. Name it- to tame it. I can help you acquire some new skills and challenge the beliefs that are no longer working. I help people find their truth and be more authentic.

At 70 West, we serve individuals and families who feel weighed down by their past or overwhelmed by their present. Many of our clients come to us seeking relief from anxiety, depression, or the long-term effects of trauma. We operate through a trauma-informed lens: instead of asking "What is wrong with you?", we help you explore "What happened to you?" Since 1995, our team has combined evidence-based clinical care with a compassionate, non-profit mission. While we are a faith-based center, we honor the personal beliefs of every client; you decide if or how faith is part of your healing. Whether you are navigating a life transition

As a fellow human, I support individuals who feel lost, unmotivated, or burned out in reclaiming a sense of peace, meaning, and connection with themselves and others. It may feel as though you are at the base of an insurmountable mountain, simply getting through each day. Yet it is possible to reawaken curiosity, openness, and joy in both yourself and your relationships. I use a compassionate, strengths-based approach grounded in a strong therapeutic alliance, along with practical tools that support meaningful, lasting change.

Many people seek therapy not because everything is falling apart, but because something no longer feels aligned. You may be functioning well on the outside while carrying anxiety, inherited patterns, or unresolved experiences that deserve thoughtful attention. Therapy can be a space to slow down, deepen insight, and relate to yourself with greater clarity and compassion. My work is collaborative, trauma-informed, and grounded in helping you build a strong internal foundation. I partner with adults who are curious about themselves and ready for reflective, intentional work.

FAQ - Black and African American Counselling
As an African American, why might I wish to see a therapist who is African American?
Working with an African American therapist can often mean that you start from a place of shared understanding with a therapist rather than having to explain your experience from scratch. A therapist who shares your racial identity is more likely to understand the specific pressures shaping your mental health, including navigating racism, cultural identity, and the overall experience of being Black in the United States. They are also more likely to understand the role that family, community, and cultural expectations play in your life without requiring a lengthy explanation. This shared foundation can create a greater sense of safety in the therapeutic relationship and make it easier to open up at the start of therapy.

Are there Black therapists who specialize in working with Black men or Black women?
Yes, many Black therapists have specific experience working with Black men or Black women. While therapists who work with Black clients broadly address concerns relevant to all genders, like anxiety or depression, those with a gender-specific focus are equipped to work with you on the particular ways that race and gender may intersect. For example, some therapists may specialize in working with Black women on topics like body image or maternal mental health, while other therapists may work with Black men on topics such as relationships or masculinity.

Do Black therapists offer marriage and couples counseling?
Yes, many Black therapists are trained in couples and marriage counseling and can work with partners navigating a wide range of relationship challenges. Therapists who identify as Black may have a better understanding of the cultural dynamics surrounding marriage, family roles, and conflict that are specific to African American communities and can work with you and your partner without making assumptions about your background.

How might I inquire about a therapist’s experience working with Black clients?
The initial consultation, which is typically a brief phone or video call, is the right time to raise a therapist’s experience working with Black clients. You can ask specific questions, such as "Do you have experience working with Black clients?" or more broad questions, such as "How do you approach cultural identity in your practice?". During the initial consultation, you can also ask whether they have undertaken training in cultural competence and how they would handle a situation where a cultural misunderstanding arose in therapy. A therapist who responds to these questions thoughtfully and without defensiveness is a good sign they are equipped to work with you effectively.

Who is included in Psychology Today's directory of Black therapists?
The directory of Black therapists includes therapists who have self-identified their ethnicity in their profiles. Psychology Today uses this information to assist clients in finding a therapist who can provide a cultural match. However, not all therapists choose to disclose their ethnicity in their profile, and they may not appear in search results for this reason. In situations where the number of therapists who have identified as Black is limited, the directory will also show therapists who have undergone specific multicultural training or have extensive experience working with clients from relevant cultural backgrounds.
