Hi, I’m John. I’m here to help you feel more like yourself again—less weighed down, more grounded, and more at peace with where you are in life. A lot of us learn ways to cope that made sense at the time but end up getting in the way later. We find ourselves stuck in patterns that don’t reflect who we really are or what we want anymore.
Therapy with me is about slowing down, sorting through the mess, and figuring out what actually works for you. I’m direct, honest, and not afraid to ask tough questions—but I also believe therapy should feel like a conversation, not a lecture.

I provide a safe, supportive space where you can explore challenges that may be weighing on you, discover new ways forward, and a sense of community. Using evidence-based approaches, such as person centered and cognitive restructuring, you don’t have to go through life’s struggles and feelings of abandonment by yourself. Many people come to counseling still working on undeveloped qualities, (emotional awareness, coping skills, self-regulation, self-worth, communication skills, problem solving, resilience, Interpersonal skills and even insight), and that’s ok therapy can help nurture and strengthen them along the way.

Look at birds: they make great sky circles of their freedom. How do they learn to do that? They fall, and in falling, they are given wings. -Rumi ...In the course of being human, we all face losses and traumas of different degrees and in the process, find ourselves abandoning parts of ourselves in order to survive emotionally and interpersonally. Therapy is about reclaiming those parts and finding our way home to who we truly are.

Life & Regret: Wishing we had made different past decisions assumes we were at the same level of maturity, under identical circumstances as we are today. Knowing what we do now, we would likely have done some things differently. Perhaps together we can explore ways that may serve you better in the present and at the same time learn to forgive yourself for regrets as completely as you would be willing to forgive others you care about. “…we get too soon old and too late wise.”-Benjamin Franklin. I would be honored to help you explore! Sincerely, Lou Lile, Licensed Professional Counselor

How long does OCD treatment take?
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is often treated on a weekly or twice-weekly schedule, depending on symptom severity and the client’s preferences. Some clients may start to see a noticeable improvement in symptoms in as little as six weeks, but it’s also possible, especially in more severe cases, for treatment to take several months to a year before significant progress is made.
What happens if OCD is not treated?
Some people with OCD, especially those with mild symptoms, may find that they are able to adapt reasonably well to life with the condition, even if their symptoms never resolve completely. However, many people, particularly those whose symptoms are severe at the outset, find that their obsessions and compulsions grow more intrusive with time, making it harder to maintain relationships, hold down a job, or navigate the world successfully.
Are there medications for OCD?
Medication can be used to treat OCD. The class of drugs most often prescribed are selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors, or SSRIs, which include fluvoxamine (under the brand name Luvox), fluoxetine (Prozac), and sertraline (Zoloft), among others. In cases of treatment-resistant OCD, other classes of medication, such as tricyclic antidepressants or atypical antipsychotics, may be prescribed. Medication is frequently used in conjunction with therapy.
Can OCD come back after treatment?
Yes. Major life transitions, periods of stress, or other factors can cause symptoms to return or, if they were never fully eradicated, to ramp back up in intensity. For some, these relapses are brief and do not require additional treatment; identifying specific triggers and practicing the skills learned in therapy can help speed their course. For others, returning to therapy for a brief period can help address the underlying stress and strengthen coping mechanisms.
