My form of psychotherapy is a unique approach rooted in modern
psychodynamic
, relational, Jungian analytical, and addiction practice.
I specialize in providing analytical psychotherapy & supervision. My hope is to help you look inward and discover how to live a more meaningful life. Each of us can understand our individuation story, find the courage to go beyond limiting narratives, and make the shift to align with our true self. Using an Analytical Psychology perspective, I offer individual and group psychotherapy, as well as clinical supervision, to facilitate deep transformation that continues long after our work is completed.

Life is full of surprises. Some are good, and some are painful. The exact details of pain are always unique. Themes I am familiar with include working with survivors of trauma and accumulated hardship, end-of-life preparation, grief, identity, depression, and struggles with intimacy. I enjoy helping individuals grow beyond the hardships of the past and find ways to thrive and live with openness and enthusiasm.

As humans we experience suffering (painful emotional states). This is normal...but what happens when you feel stuck here; reliving old patterns from unhealed wounds? It's likely that your nervous system is overwhelmed and under-resourced in an already stressful world. As you attempt to cope the best way you've learned how, you may turn towards substances, work excessively, fill your time with mindless distractions, obsessively striving to "get somewhere", maybe hyper-focusing on others or avoiding them. These unconscious and automatic behaviors likely come from a loving/wise part that is trying to keep you safe from discomfort.

People often pursue therapy when they feel stuck— typical coping strategies are no longer working, relationships are dissatisfying or strained, trauma from the past continues to take a toll. As a licensed psychologist, it is my privilege to collaborate with clients to figure out better ways to live. In addition to the powerful experience of being in a therapeutic relationship, the process of making meaningful changes in your life may involve developing insight into yourself and the patterns that are keeping you stuck, learning new skills, and/or tapping into the wisdom and strengths you already possess.

I work largely from a
psychodynamic
framework, then integrate aspects mindfulness, interpersonal process therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) and Internal Family Systems (IFS) as appropriate.
Sometimes we find ourselves struggling over things we "shouldn't" or feeling down, anxious, or stuck "for no reason." We often criticize ourselves for struggling or try to grin and bear it, but these options often make things worse or at best maintain the status quo. Therapy, however, can help us learn how to navigate life's challenges and be kinder to ourselves in the process. Within the context of a genuine, empathic, collaborative, and non-judgmental therapeutic relationship, my goal is to help you learn about yourself, and together move you towards living the life you want.

I want therapy to feel like an outlet for you and a space for you to grow. It is going to be work but should never feel like a burden. If you feel like you have lost yourself, or you have always been lost, we will work together to find the best version of you. This is your time to shine! We will focus on your strengths and look at what is working. The parts of your life that are not serving you we can explore and find solutions. We will take it a step at a time, no rush.

I strongly believe that YOU are the expert on yourself. That being said, at times it is helpful to have a trained professional to support you in exploring places you may feel stuck in life, unhelpful patterns, and strategies for growing and moving forward.

Accepting New Clients. Life, what a mysterious and rapidly changing place. Throughout this journey we seem to develop a lens through which we see the world. The lens gives us some sense of safety and consistency. Yet, sometimes this lens does not grow and change with the present moment. Therefore, we may be looking through a lens that no longer allows us to see the present moment for what it truly is. I see therapy as an opportunity to explore oneself and gain greater awareness of how we see and experience the world. Together we can find a lens that allows you to move through the ups and downs of life with presence and clarity.

Come, let's sit and chat where you can be heard and seen. "I am sick and tired of being sick and tired." - (Fannie Lou Hamer) ... "I want to feel like I am enough." ... "I don't have any hope." ... "I don't know what to do to feel better." ... These are just a few things I've heard in my career. If this sounds like you, then I'd be happy to walk alongside you in your journey. There are many injustices, microaggressions, and systemic issues that oppress individuals and families, causing anxiety, trauma, and family conflict. Although this can impact your day-to-day life, there is hope and healing available to you.

I offer a range of specialty services that generally fall outside the typical categories and tend to use a “whole person” approach to treatment and stabilization, though over the last 10+ years of intensive couple’s and individual work I’ve treated almost everything and welcome all issues large or small, no matter the complexity. I offer Ketamine-Assisted Psychotherapy as well as Spiritual Emergence Coaching and meditation training for issues where mental health and spirituality meet. Lastly, I offer specialty testing to precisely identify problems and diagnoses, then use these to best determine what treatment will be most helpful.

You are not alone, sister... Though you do your best to get up, get dressed (yoga pants count, ladies!) and smile while you uphold all your roles/responsibilities, you are actually living an anxious, panicked, stressed, overwhelmed and depressed life (or your daughter is). Your best version of YOU is locked away - longing. While you hope one day you'll just feel better, in the meantime you find yourself in the same place: struggling, anxious, frustrated, exhausted, detached, fearful, isolated, unsettled, desperate. I don't want you to settle for living this way any longer; there is hope and this does not have to be your "normal."

It is my desire as a counselor to help women and children heal from trauma, navigate relationships, and overcome depression, anxiety, and body image issues. My counseling begins from the worldview that we are all deeply cared for by a God whose image we bear, and I seek to demonstrate that care to my clients.

You may be feeling disconnected from yourself, your partner(s), or your sexuality. By connecting to your emotions, learning to communicate effectively, and having open conversations about sex, you can have more fulfilling relationships and satisfying sex. If you are looking to improve your relationship(s), learn more about yourself, and gather tools for coping and communication, I can help. Additionally, if you are hoping to explore, discuss, reclaim, discover, and heal your sexuality, I may be just the therapist for you!

I strongly believe that helping people develop healthy relationships provides the foundation for a meaningful life. When we interact with compassion and respect for others, including ourselves, we tend to be happy and successful. During difficult times when depression or anxiety arise, the support of a trained professional can help you learn how to become your own best resource. Life is filled with hopes and expectations that lead to our greatest joys and deepest pain. The tricky part is that the things we value the most can cause us the greatest pain and suffering. Where there is pain, there can be healing, and where there are ashes, new life can be made. Zach Linder believes that the context of the past, the experience in the present, and the hopes and goals of the future are all essential parts of using our deepest suffering to move into and live our greatest joys. Zach’s clients experience him joining them where they are and walking with them step by step on the journey to where they want to be.

Psychodynamic Therapists
Is psychodynamic therapy evidence-based?
Studies have found psychodynamic therapy to be effective in treating conditions like social anxiety, eating disorders, chronic pain, some personality disorders, and depression; indeed, some studies have found it to be just as effective as CBT or medication. What’s more, several studies have found that the benefits of psychodynamic therapy tend to endure—even grow—long after treatment has ended.
How long does psychodynamic therapy last?
Unlike CBT and other more structured forms of therapy, psychodynamic therapy tends to be open-ended and may not be limited to a set number of sessions. It is common for clients to be in therapy for a year or longer and to see their therapist one to three times a week, though the exact schedule and timeline may vary depending on a client’s challenges and progress. However, brief psychodynamic therapy is available, which tends to be more goal-oriented and typically unfolds over 16 to 30 sessions.
Does psychodynamic therapy work?
Research finds that psychodynamic therapy can help someone manage or reduce symptoms of diagnosable mental health conditions like depression or anxiety. The modality may also offer a range of benefits that are harder to measure but just as valuable—such as increased self-worth or healthier relationships. While no therapy type will work for everyone, research and anecdotal evidence suggest that psychodynamic therapy can be highly effective.
What are the limitations of psychodynamic therapy?
Some meta-analyses have concluded that there is little evidence to suggest that psychodynamic therapy can effectively treat certain mental health conditions such as PTSD, OCD, or psychosis, though it is sometimes used to do so. More broadly, the open-ended, free-association structure of psychodynamic therapy may be frustrating for clients who prefer a more structured, time-limited, or goal-oriented approach.
