Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapists in Severance, CO
I believe that all humans have greatness within themselves; it's important to work with a therapist who sees yours (even if you or others do not). I work well with young adults to seniors who are leery about seeking help, feel coaxed in to counseling, or who have had bad experiences in the past. I strive to make you feel comfortable so you can be honest with me - and yourself - about your problems, mood complaints, or substance use. Others tell me they immediately sense my genuineness and non-judgmental character.

We start by clarifying what hurts most now, then blend IFS, DBT skills, somatic tools, and, when helpful, brainspotting.
You’re the one everyone counts on, especially as a woman juggling work, relationships, family, but lately you feel like you’re running on fumes. Maybe anxiety is buzzing in the background all day, you second-guess every decision, or you’ve lost touch with who you are beneath all the roles you juggle. You might notice old patterns, like people-pleasing, numbing out, or staying small, showing up even though you’ve outgrown them. If you’re tired of holding it all together on the outside while quietly struggling on the inside, therapy can give you a place to exhale and be fully yourself.

My specialties are in EMDR, IFS, Eastern Psychology, Mindfulness, and more commonly recognized modalities such as CBT, DBT, and ACT.
I believe in emphasizing one’s own unique spiritual journey as the primary source of knowing; that there is nothing needed to “fix,” but rather an opportunity to explore with newfound curiosity and connection. Collaborating with our natural environment and translating what is discussed during our time in into lived experiences is incredibly powerful and useful for sustained growth and learning.
I am also licensed in CO as a certified psychedelic assisted therapy facilitator and offer psilocybin and ketamine facilitation as appropriate.

I believe therapy can look many different ways, and can be very effective in varying forms. Sometimes we benefit greatly from brief therapeutic episodes that provide for education, skill building, and perspective shifts. Other times, we may benefit from ongoing relational work with a counselor. And sometimes, we find growth in intermittent visits with clinician. Therapy should ultimately be tailored to the client's needs, abilities, and goals. I approach client care with warmth, curiosity, empathy, and a bit of humor. I believe the interconnection between our biology, psychology, socio-environmental and for many, spiritual factors.

In our work together, I offer a warm presence where all parts of you are welcome. I hold space with deep care, gentle curiosity, and atunement to your pace, honoring both your vulnerability and strength.

Beginning therapy can feel intimidating, awkward, hopeful, exciting (and everything in between). It's not easy to share your story with someone you hardly know. It's important you to feel invited, empowered, and encouraged but not pushed beyond what you’re comfortable with or what you feel you can tolerate. This invitation and pacing is tailored specifically to you, your unique goals, needs, and strengths. I believe each person is unique, and worthy of individualized compassionate care. I have sat in the client seat at various points of my life and know first-hand how much courage it takes to seek support. I'm so glad you're here!

Trauma can leave you feeling disconnected from yourself and stuck in patterns that no longer serve you. You’re exhausted from people-pleasing, overthinking, anxiety, or carrying the weight of past experiences while trying to hold everything together. Deep down, you may struggle with self-doubt, feel overwhelmed, or wonder if things will ever get easier. You may not even remember a time when life felt different. But you're ready for relief. You're ready to feel more grounded, trust yourself again, and build healthier relationships. Most of all, you're ready to heal from the past and reconnect with the woman you were meant to be.

I draw on my experiences in parts work, contemplative, somatic, Internal Family Systems, energy psychology, mindfulness, the visual arts, & as a mother to support & collaborate on your unique journey to recovery, integration, healing, celebration, & joy.
Would you like to set clear boundaries? Change persistent patterns that arise in relationships? Ease your heart’s longing to belong? Engage transitions thoughtfully and with empowerment? Embrace a greater sense of connection & well-being? Be more kindhearted with yourself & loved ones? Support your child living a more joyful life? These aspirations are natural, indicating a courageous readiness to reach a fuller potential and greater well-being. Adults express themselves through stories; children through play. Words & play activate the nervous & neural systems allowing access to emotions, thoughts, & sensations.

Using internal family systems, Buddhist psychology and acceptance and commitment therapy, we will help these parts heal from and put down the burdens they carry.
Sometimes the state of our world can feel so scary and heartbreaking that we feel immobilized. Much of our potential is blocked by feeling overwhelmed by the day to day challenge of struggling to advocate for ourselves in our communities, the world, even in our own thoughts and beliefs! It is easy to feel anxious, alone and simultaneously at war with ourselves. I am passionate about helping you recognize and tap into your own capacities some of which may currently be dormant in order to support you to be more fully who you are.

Internal Family Systems (IFS) Therapists
What is Internal Family Systems therapy?
Internal Family Systems (IFS) is a type of talk therapy that focuses on sub-personalities, or “families,” within a person, which may be made up of wounded parts and unpleasant emotions like anger and shame. These sub-personalities can come into conflict with each other and with an individual’s core Self, leaving the person feeling detached from positive traits such as the “8 C’s” of confidence, calmness, creativity, clarity, curiosity, courage, compassion, and connectedness. By healing a patient’s wounded parts, a therapist aims to restore balance and bring on positive change.
How does Internal Family Systems therapy work?
An IFS therapist will work with a patient to identify their particular sub-personalities, recognize the emotions powering them, and release them. By doing so, the patient should become more able to address any underlying problems their sub-personalities may have been trying to protect them from. Ultimately, a patient discovers ways to manage internal and external conflicts on their own, through techniques such as relaxation exercises, journaling, and making charts depicting the relationships between their core Self and their distinct parts.
Does Internal Family Systems therapy work?
IFS therapy has been shown to help people address conditions such as depression, anxiety, panic, fears and phobias, trauma, and substance use disorders. Some research has also found that it can help individuals deal with symptoms of physical health conditions like rheumatoid arthritis, such as pain, everyday functioning, depressive feelings, and low self-compassion. There are some conditions for which IFS treatment, specifically discussions of one’s “parts,” may be less appropriate, such as schizophrenia or other states that involve psychosis or paranoia.
How long does Internal Family Systems therapy take?
As with most forms of talk therapy, there is no set duration or end point for IFS therapy. After becoming comfortable with a therapist and the core concepts of IFS, some patients quickly make progress. While experiences vary, most will find that it is a relatively longer-term therapy, involving months and sometimes years of sessions.
