Have you experienced a stressful or traumatic experience that has left you feeling not like yourself? After these types of experiences, the most common thing people tell me is "I just wish I could go back to how it was before." You might be wrestling with painful memories, have difficulty connecting with others, and struggle to feel safe, both with the outside world and even yourself. These are all NORMAL reactions to difficult experiences but they do not have to be your forever. While we cannot undo the past, we can work to process and overcome these events in order to find and a path forward.

Many children and teens struggle to put their feelings into words. Instead, emotions may show up as anxiety, meltdowns, withdrawal, low self-esteem, school challenges, friendship struggles, or conflict at home. If your child is feeling overwhelmed, stuck, or misunderstood, therapy can provide a safe space to build confidence, emotional awareness, and healthy coping skills. I specialize in working with children, adolescents, and young adults navigating anxiety, emotional regulation difficulties, self-esteem concerns, relationship challenges, life transitions, and the effects of trauma.

My ideal client is someone who is struggling from anxiety, depression, and/or the effects of past trauma. I work best with clients who are open to accepting their own responsibility to change, and are ready to recover control of their own life from the things which have held them back from how they want to live. I have a special passion and training to work with those who have undergone spiritual abuse/trauma, which is any harmful use of power and control experienced within a faith tradition. If you're recovering from this, or just want to sort out what you believe and why without judgment, I would love to help!

Something Out Of The Box - If you are looking for something other than straight talk therapy, something a little more creative and experiential, than this work may be for you. These are particularly stressful times which exacerbate our own personal issues and anxieties. Engaging our bodies, mindfulness, nature, conscious trance, Gestalt, somatic and other expressive modalities invites you to go deep in a different way. Getting out of our heads and the stories we've been telling our whole lives allows us to see ourselves in a new light, from a fresh perspective, creating hope and motivation for growth, renewal, and sustained change.

The most difficult part of counseling is asking for and admitting that we need help. Sometimes we lack the vocabulary necessary to identify what is wrong, sometimes we feel overwhelmed by stress and struggle, or perhaps we feel invisible and unheard or silenced. I would be honored to walk alongside you as you face these types of difficulties, to help provide clarity in the confusion, comfort in the trouble.

I draw from Internal Family Systems Therapy (parts work), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, attachment-based practices, and somatic awareness to support healing through both mind and body- helping you reconnect with your inner wisdom.
I understand what it means to be human- to carry both tenderness and pain, to lose your way, and to long for understanding and connection. You may not have the words for it, only a sense that something within you is asking to be known, understood, and cared for. In our work together, I offer a warm presence where all parts of you are welcome. I hold space with deep care, gentle curiosity, and atunement to your pace, honoring both your vulnerability and strength.

I utilize Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Emotionally Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavior Therapy and adapt the therapeutic modality to meet your current need.
My work is rooted in lived experience, deep listening, and a belief that life’s transitions, especially the ones we don’t choose, can become powerful gateways to healing and self-discovery. For many years, I worked as a Medical and Hospice Social Worker, walking alongside individuals and families during some of the most vulnerable moments of their lives. That work taught me how profoundly the body, mind, and spirit respond to change, loss, and uncertainty—and how essential it is to feel seen and supported during those times. I am excited to add "Coffee and Chat" a virtual 20 min initial meeting at your convenience.

Acceptance and Commitment (ACT) Therapists
How does acceptance and commitment therapy work?
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy encourages a person to listen to their self-talk. A person’s inner dialog can be indicative of how they treat themselves. ACT also encourages self-compassion; this can lead to a better understanding of negative thought patterns and emotional states. This understanding can then lead the individual to needed behavior change.

What are the goals of acceptance and commitment therapy?
The goal of acceptance and commitment is to expand a person’s psychological flexibility, a trait that encourages an individual to live in the present moment and to accept all their thoughts, feelings, and emotions, even ones that are difficult such as sadness and anxiety. In ACT, this acceptance is congruent with the individual’s values and beliefs.

Does acceptance and commitment therapy work for depression?
Acceptance and commitment therapy is effective for depression because it allows the individual to view their discomfort and suffering differently. Depressive feelings about relationship heartaches, for example, are a part of life. A despondent person learns to let go of their struggles and instead view their painful thoughts and feelings with compassion. This will lead the individual toward positive change.

How long are people typically in acceptance and commitment therapy?
A typical acceptance and commitment therapy session is 50 minutes long with one session per week. Treatment for common problems such as anxiety, depression, or relationship difficulties can last between eight weeks to four months. However, more severe cases may require more than one session a week and/or a longer time frame for treatment.
