You don’t have to have it all figured out to start healing, just a willingness to begin. With over 20 years of experience walking alongside children, adolescents, and young adults in educational settings, I understand how life’s most formative moments can feel overwhelming, confusing, or isolating. Now in private practice, I’m deeply committed to helping individuals and couples reconnect with their strengths, navigate challenges, and move toward a more authentic, fulfilling life.

I enjoy working with adolescents as well as adults who are experiencing depression, anxiety, responses from trauma, or low self-esteem. It is important for me to get to know my clients so that we can work together to develop a plan on how to improve any issues that may be present. I tailor my approach to counseling based on client need rather than purely diagnosis as every individual responds to treatment differently. I am part of a group practice that has clinicians with a variety of specialties, populations they serve, and availability.

I specialize in Borderline Personality Disorder, abuse and trauma recovery, as well as suicide prevention, awareness, and attempt healing.
"Pain is inevitable, suffering is optional" - Haruki Murakami This quote is a personal favorite because it acknowledges that people and events in our lives will cause hurt. The real stunt in our growth, however, comes from suffering. This occurs when we try to force our way through difficult situations or ignore them altogether. Only by truly accepting our situation and feeling our emotions as they were meant to be felt can we overcome the pain that enters our lives. Skills taught in counseling can help do just that. If you are ready to end your suffering, I would love to assist you on that path.

As your therapist, my goal is to support you in becoming the best version of yourself. I believe that our life experiences shape how we understand the world; however, the lessons we learn may not always remain helpful or accurate in the present, even if they once served an important purpose. Each individual faces unique challenges, and every situation deserves to be understood within its own context. During difficult times, we all seek validation, understanding, and reassurance that our experiences truly matter.

After 20 years in the health and wellness world I developed a deep belief that we have what we need to heal ourselves. Each of us carries an innate wisdom in our bodies and we need guidance and support to tap into that innate healing capacity. I am passionate about being witness to that process and working with individuals to creatively find our way to healing.

Suicidal Ideation Therapists
How does therapy for suicidal ideation work?
Stress, depression, anxiety, or upsetting circumstances can give rise to suicidal thinking. Therapy can address the events at the core of an individual’s suffering. Understanding why a person may be suicidal can help the therapist and the patient discover alternative methods of coping. A person with suicidal ideation may be mired in catastrophic thinking, and treatment like cognitive behavioral therapy is a good choice for breaking such patterns. In addition, treatment such as acceptance and commitment therapy can help a person manage their distress through better emotion regulation.

Which therapies are best for suicidal ideation?
Specific approaches used by professionals include cognitive behavioral, dialectical behavior, psychodynamic, acceptance and commitment therapies, among others. Cognitive behavioral and dialectical behavior therapies are two widely used therapies that can help individuals with painful thoughts and past traumas. These therapies help an individual tolerate distress, regulate emotions, and not act on dangerous urges.

Are there specific medications to be combined with therapy?
The use of medication for suicidal thoughts must be aligned with the underlying cause; conditions such as depression, anxiety, and psychosis may be at the root of suicidal ideation. A psychiatrist may prescribe medications for symptoms, which may include antipsychotics such as aripiprazole or antidepressants such as selective serotonin reuptake inhibitors.

How often and how long are therapy sessions for suicidal ideation?
As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual. Patients may see improvement within 15 to 20 sessions, at an average of 50 minutes per session, while others may opt for 20 to 30 sessions over, perhaps, a six-month period. Still other patients, especially those with co-occurring conditions like major depression and anxiety, may need to continue sessions for up to 12 to 18 months. In some cases, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm.
