I specialize in working with first responders and veterans. Many clients say that their loved ones or friends have told them that they just don't seem like themselves, or that they're irritable for no reason, jaded, or burnt out. Maybe you have a history of childhood trauma that's never been addressed, or the work is weighing more heavily than it used to. Maybe you're wondering how you're going to make it another 10 years until retirement. And maybe you don't know what exactly you need, but you know something's not right.

Life can be incredibly overwhelming, filled with stress and anxiety. Despite outward appearances of strength, your inner dialogue may feel relentless, constantly highlighting your perceived shortcomings. It can feel like you're suffocating under the weight of these thoughts, yet you hesitate to express your true feelings for fear of judgment or altered perceptions from those around you. Amid this struggle, you may feel isolated, adrift, and uncertain about your identity, desires, and how to improve your relationships and overall well-being.

Psychology Today says I should make a video. I have successfully avoided this task with remarkable consistency. I work with adults navigating anxiety, trauma, burnout, relationship challenges, and neurodivergent experiences. Many have spent years feeling too much, not enough, or like they'd be doing better if they would just try harder. I strive to create a welcoming space for LGBTQ+, BIPOC, disabled, chronically ill, neurodivergent, and other historically underserved communities. If you've spent years "trying harder", reading the books, listened to the podcasts, and still feel stuck, we can start there.

Hello there! Welcome to my page. My work and focus changes with the age of my client that I’m working with. With a younger child, I join my clients on the floor and have a wide array of toys and games to connect with the child and play with them. With my pre-teen, teen, and young adults I focus on relationship building and gaining trust to assist with the goals that we set. I treat all my clients with respect to reflect the innate worth I believe that every individual holds. I have after-school hour availability and see clients in person and/or online.

Our foundational beliefs, values, experiences, and attitudes are the foundation upon which everything that comes into our lives is built. Like building a home, if a stone in the foundation is skewed, the house is structurally compromised. When we experience trauma or negative experiences, everything that touches upon that foundation is compromised. This can lead to anxiety, depression, relationship issues, low self-esteem, suicidal thoughts, PTSD, and a loss of life direction, just to name a few possible results. We all can restructure our lives through processing and perspective.

I work with adult individuals or couples who are curious and want to better understand themselves. Someone navigating a life transition, wrestling with identity or meaning, carrying pain that others have minimized, or feeling stuck in patterns they can't quite name. I'm especially drawn to those who have felt treated like a collection of symptoms instead of a person. I work with people of all genders and am fully inclusive of diverse cultural backgrounds, identities, and lived experiences. I can provide faith-based care and I'm also comfortable exploring intimacy and relationship dynamics as part of holistic care

We've all been handed a box of "shoulds" about sexuality and relationships—what they’re supposed to look like, how they’re supposed to work. My goal is to help you break out of that box and open up to the limitless potential that is actually out there. You deserve to feel comfortable, unashamed, and completely yourself in how you experience your relationships and sexuality. In therapy, we’ll create a space where curiosity and experimentation are encouraged, where you can renegotiate and reshape sex and relationships in ways that feel most true to you.

Starting therapy, substance use recovery, or EMDR for trauma can be a big step, no matter your experience. If you notice yourself always caring for others at your own expense, or you’re dealing with flashbacks, nightmares, feeling on edge, or using more of a substance than you'd like, you’re not alone. I offer a supportive space to address anxiety, ADHD, addiction, codependency, and trauma, using practical tools to help you build independence and feel more balanced. Secular and Non-Religious Therapists
What is a secular and non religious approach in therapy?
Secular or non-religious therapy is a theoretical orientation used by many therapists and describes a therapeutic approach that does not rely on any specific religious or faith-based beliefs in the therapeutic process. Secular counselors will often approach therapy with an emphasis on evidence-based practices, such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) or Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT) to help clients, instead of relying on religious practices, such as prayer or belief in God.

Is secular therapy primarily for non-religious people?
Both religious and non-religious individuals can benefit from secular therapy. People exploring their religious or spiritual beliefs may find it especially useful to work with a secular therapist who is unbiased toward any specific religion. While religious individuals might value the connection and familiarity of seeing a counselor who shares their beliefs, secular counseling can offer them the chance to develop coping skills independent of their religious practice, which can be beneficial in various aspects of their lives.

Can a secular approach to therapy help with religious trauma?
One major reason clients may seek a secular therapist is to process previous religious experiences, including religious trauma. Secular therapists can help clients manage symptoms of the trauma through practices such as Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy or Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT). They can also encourage clients through talk therapy or psychodynamic approaches to explore the roots of their religious trauma. Since secular therapists do not have any predetermined religious beliefs, they can be particularly helpful for clients looking to explore their own religious beliefs following a history of religious trauma.

What does non religious marriage and premarital counseling involve?
Marriage and premarital counseling typically involves a couple meeting with a therapist to discuss topics such as planning for marriage, navigating a new marriage, addressing relationship challenges, and developing better communication and conflict resolution skills. Non-religious therapists assist couples in achieving these goals without adhering to specific religious beliefs or frameworks, often emphasizing inclusivity and non-judgment, especially for "nontraditional" couples. However, seeking couples therapy from a non-religious counselor does not mean religious topics are off-limits. In fact, non-religious couples from different religious backgrounds may benefit from a secular therapist who remains neutral toward the beliefs of each partner.
