The therapeutic relationship has the potential to provide healing and support while offering a hopeful perspective to navigate difficulties and hurtful circumstances. Life can be challenging at times. As a Licensed Professional Counselor and Certified Perinatal Mental Health provider, I value the therapist-client relationship and believe that this is key to helping a client in their journey. Nothing is too big or too small for therapy. I strive to provide a relaxing therapeutic environment that allows for a sense of humor while also instilling hope, promoting change and assisting each client to be the best version of themselves. I help my clients to believe in themselves and work to increase their confidence and self-worth, which in turn helps the client to meet their treatment goals.

Let's get real for a minute...life is hard! If you've found yourself struggling recently and you don't know why, maybe I can help. I love coming alongside young adults and women who are eager to grow and to better understand the "why"' behind their thoughts, feelings, and behavior. By using a combination of insight work (exploring the "why") and learning new tools (the "how" or "now what"), I can help you find freedom and hope in your story!

Hello! My approach to therapy is first and foremost person-centered. I know that a "one size fits all" approach to healing does not work, therefore I take an eclectic approach to therapy, utilizing concepts from Existential Therapy, Trauma-Informed Therapy, Sandtray Therapy, and Art Therapy. I am a strong believer in the truth of the phrase "We are wounded in relationship, but also healed in relationship." I would love the opportunity to facilitate a safe, nurturing, and healing environment in which you can share your story, explore your wounds, reclaim your power, and take mastery over your story and healing.

Some days it just feels extra hard to human; to know and understand what you are feeling, and how to be in relationship with your family and friends. It can feel overwhelming and even lonely trying to navigate life and the world around us. We so deeply want to be seen, to be understood, to be heard. You are looking for answers, and yet, the process to the answers can feel messy and murky.

Don't go without support during these stressful times. It is easy to get stuck in the mundane and feel like life is stagnant, or on hold. This road can be met with many obstacles. Some we must learn to accept and some we must conquer. I help facilitate change and move you forward from past and current challenges. I assist you in gaining more self awareness, and teach you the tools needed to embrace difficult situations. The goal is to be free from worrying about the future, and replaying the past. Life transitions can cause a disruption in homeostasis. I am here to help you find balance and confidence in your decisions.

I believe too many women are suffering in silence and isolation as they give of themselves but don't receive the same support in return. I consider myself to be both "eclectic" and "holistic" in my approach, meaning that I use different types of proven psychotherapies (like CBT, ACT, Mindfulness-Based therapies) to help with the health and wellness of the mind, body, and spirit. Together this means I know that one method doesn't work for everyone and that I find it important to look at the whole you. You will be getting a customized healing journey that you help create because I trust that you are the best expert on your life.

How do you encourage a woman to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual may be suffering, and what effects it has on them, should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
How can women prepare for therapy?
Women can prepare for therapy by being willing to talk about their past experiences and their private thoughts. Before a session, an individual may want to reflect on how they’ve felt since the last session and what’s happened in their lives. Between sessions, it can be useful to write down notes about their reaction to a given event or how they felt at a particular time.
How long does therapy for women’s issues often last?
As with any type of therapy, sessions depend on the individual and the challenges they face. Therapy types like Cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT), Prolonged exposure therapy (PET), and Eye movement desensitization and reprocessing (EMDR) can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. In some cases, such as for women with eating disorders, residential treatment may be recommended for an individual who is judged to be at high risk of self-harm. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.
How can women overcome stigma around specific challenges in order to seek therapy?
Women dealing with domestic abuse, sexual assault, eating disorders, and any other number of troubles may feel a stigma around seeking help. It’s important to remember that these issues are not uncommon and there is no shame in getting help for them. Therapy is confidential, and women can talk about their experiences without fear of judgment. Seeking therapy can be a courageous and liberating act, and an important step toward healing and recovery.
