Ketamine Assisted Psychotherapy (KAP) is one of the most promising new mental health protocols since the mid90's. When therapy sessions are structured to include medically prescribed Ketamine (FDA approved) doses, there is evidence that people experience extended symptom relief, especially in cases of depression, anxiety and PTSD . It has also been linked to a reduction in grief and fear related to death and dying. I am a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) affiliated with Journey Clinical and willing to talk to you about to help you determine if this emerging treatment in is a good fit for your mental health journey.

I specialize in working with survivors of trauma , eating disorders, and athletes of most ages. What helps people deeply heal are brain-based interventions that understand the nature of our nervous system and how people heal, whether that be from toxic stress, attention and concentration problems, mood, or anxiety. As such, I have dedicated my practice to learning these interventions and how to apply them. I take this same lens when working with athletes, whether that's to recover from an injury, treat a mental disorder, or learn to consistently perform optimally. I have experience treating ages as young as 6 through the lifespan.

I believe in helping people put the pieces back together. I specialize in trauma issues, self esteem, depression, sex addiction and sexual trauma . Often trauma has a long lasting, but unknown effect on people. Resolving trauma leads to previously unknown levels of fulfillment. When a persons self-esteem is well functioning, their relationships often are also connected and intimate. Sexual addiction is treated in a stigma-free manner. I treat my clients with dignity throughout the process and facilitate a shame-free recovery.

If you are struggling with trauma , military/combat trauma , addiction, huge life transitions, bereavement or loss of physical identity, I'm your guy.
I will not be asking you "How does that make you feel?" YOU are the expert in you and my role is to help you understand things that are in your way and how to get rid of them. I served in Army, Navy and in the Marine infantry with three combat tours. I've had to work through my own trauma and struggles and after I did, I went back to get my degree so I can help people struggling to move forward. Through my training and experience, I've come to specialize in trauma and addiction, and I understand how difficult it can be to walk into a room and pour out your pain to a stranger, but if you are ready, so am I.

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
