Somatic Therapists in Monument, CO
I blend ACT, CBT, person-centered therapy, mindfulness, somatic work, performance skills, and, when appropriate, hypnotherapy to help clients understand their patterns & build practical ways to respond.
You may look capable and put-together while internally feeling anxious, overwhelmed, stuck in your head, or constantly pressured to do more. I work especially well with athletes and other high-achieving teens and adults who struggle with perfectionism, performance pressure, self-doubt, or harsh self-criticism. Stress may also show up physically through GI symptoms or other mind-body concerns. Together, we work toward greater flexibility, self-trust, and a healthier relationship with pressure and performance.

You can’t get out of your own head. The racing thoughts, the second-guessing, and the voice that won’t stop analyzing every move follow you from warm-ups to the starting line to the ride home. You know what you’re capable of, but when it counts something takes over. Maybe your chest tightens, your legs won’t listen, or your body feels hijacked. Performance anxiety, perfectionism, and self-doubt steal the joy that brought you to your sport. You don’t have to get rid of those thoughts and feelings to play well, though. You can learn to be present, be willing to feel what shows up, and still do what matters.

Integrative therapy to nourish your mind and body as you uncover who you are beneath the expectations, roles, and masks you've learned to wear. I work with emerging adults, and women to move beyond simply coping toward real self-understanding, nervous system regulation, and whole-person wellbeing. Many of my clients are neurodivergent, high-achieving, or highly sensitive individuals who have spent years adapting to a world that wasn't built for them. They may be young adults figuring out their footing, women redefining themselves in a new stage of life, or moms learning to care for themselves while caring for children.

Somatic Therapists
How does somatic therapy work?
Somatic therapy is a form of treatment that focuses on how the body and mind are interconnected. In this approach, physical symptoms are addressed because they may in fact signal emotional distress. Somatic therapists combine mindfulness, talk therapy, breathwork, yoga, dance, and physical manipulations of the body to help patients become more attuned to what their body is telling them.
Is EMDR a somatic therapy?
EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is a form of somatic therapy, as it incorporates mental and physical principles. EMDR involves remembering a traumatic experience while allowing one’s eyes to track a side-to-side visual stimulus from a therapist. This lateral eye movement is believed to diminish the painful power of the memory so that it can be discussed with a therapist.
Is somatic therapy evidence-based?
Somatic therapy has been researched and studied, and some forms of somatic therapy are found to be effective in treating a wide range of conditions. Because somatic therapy encompasses many techniques, some, such as EMDR and meditation, have been studied more than others.
What is somatic trauma therapy?
Somatic trauma therapy is based on the idea that when people experience trauma, they can become stuck in the “freeze” part of a “fight, flight, or freeze” response. In this state, trauma can manifest itself both mentally and physically—through tension in the muscles, anxiety, and stress. Popular forms of somatic trauma therapy include EMDR, sensorimotor therapy, and somatic experiencing.
