I am a
Marriage
and Family Therapist Candidate (MFTC) specializing in family systems and horses.
When I am in that dark abyss, I want someone comforting, yet skilled. I want someone to listen and to “get” me, but I don’t want them to disempower me in the process. I don’t want someone who thinks they are better than me because they “have a degree”. I want someone that I can collaborate with to get new ways of looking at things, or that I can trust when they are guiding me to look at deeper issues within myself. I don’t want to be diagnosed; I want someone to see that hidden spark that I am and to help me reignite that flame. And it would be helpful if they had a sense of humor, a creative way of working with me and fur.

As a mother of 3, grandmother of 10, and
marriage
partner of 41 years, I have experienced the joys and struggles of family life.
Are you feeling disconnected from your partner, alone and lonely in what should be your most nourishing relationship? Perhaps your relationship has been reduced to little more than shouted insults or icy silences, and you wonder how it happened. As humans, we are hardwired to connect with others, and when our primary relationships are struggling, we can lose our sense of wholeness. Let me help you rediscover the joy of being a couple, with each partner feeling fully heard, appreciated, and cherished. I have a Master of Arts in
Marriage
and Family Therapy, with post-graduate training in all three levels of the Gottman Method.

Effective
Marriage Counseling
is more convenient than ever attending my VIRTUAL sessions.
For over 25 years wives have told me that their husbands won't attend counseling. If "it's a waste of time" they won't come back. More often than not they don't believe that "talking" will change anything. My sessions are about identifying real issues and personalized tools. It is absolutely rewarding to see people create a relationship they never imagined! If you want your spouse to attend with you, ask them to attend ONE time. You will be surprised when they agree to return! And it's more convenient than ever attending my VIRTUAL sessions. My experience and ability to get to the core issues quickly is key to successful resolution.

Marriage Counseling Therapists
How does marriage counseling work?
Marriage counseling works by teaching couples concrete skills to communicate with one another and solve disagreements in healthy ways. A trained mental health professional works with both members of a couple to explore difficulties the couple may be having and helps them develop skills to address these matters. Couples who don’t have any difficulties but want to prepare for marriage may develop skills for the future.
How long does marriage counseling typically last?
Marriage counseling is a short-term form of therapy; the process may last between four and eight sessions. Other forms of relationship guidance from mental health professionals, such as couples therapy, are longer lasting, may focus on the past rather than just the present, and are tailored to the individual couple and their emotions, history, and patterns in the relationship. Couples therapy often lasts for 12 weeks or longer.
Is marriage counseling effective?
Marriage counseling helps many couples develop relationship skills that may not have been acquired or tested in a relationship; partners may be better able to communicate and address conflict following counseling. However, there are many different forms of marriage counseling, and this form of counseling does not have as strong an evidence base as other modalities such as couples therapy.
Is marriage counseling effective if only one partner wants to go?
Yes, marriage counseling can still be effective if one partner convinces the other to engage in the process. Of course, whether counseling is effective depends on the couple’s commitment to work on their relationship; however, the short-term, skills-based nature of marriage counseling makes it a relatively easy “ask” of a partner, and the hesitant individual may see its value once counseling begins.
