Gottman Method principles are backed by 40 years of couples research, to help couples reconnect with their love, their passion, and their friendship, even when facing difficult issues such as betrayal and addiction.
Are you feeling disconnected from your partner, alone and lonely in what should be your most nourishing relationship? Perhaps your relationship has been reduced to little more than shouted insults or icy silences, and you wonder how it happened. As humans, we are hardwired to connect with others, and when our primary relationships are struggling, we can lose our sense of wholeness. Let me help you rediscover the joy of being a couple, with each partner feeling fully heard, appreciated, and cherished. I have a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy, with post-graduate training in all three levels of the Gottman Method.

"It's never too late to become who you were meant to be." T.S. Eliot. What are your words, your stories? What or who in your life would you like to be different? What's in the way of you living in the "more" of your life? It's my privilege to work with amazing people who have experienced relational issues, family struggles, betrayal , abuse, broken hearts, shattered dreams, unexpected loss, trauma and brokenness. For some it's hope deferred. Are you one who has lost your way and forgotten who you are? Let's talk. There's hope.

As an experienced adult and adolescent therapist, I offer counseling for anxiety, depression, and traumatic stress. Beliefs and emotional responses learned from experience can limit us, affect our physical health and our relationships. The pandemic and its consequences have proven to be particularly challenging. It matters what we focus on, how we interpret it, and how we respond. Learn how to manage symptoms while they lessen or are eliminated. Visit my website springswellness.net to learn more, or call/text for a initial consultation. The mind and body are inclined to heal. Let yourself adapt and recover.

Let's start with the future. You'll not get there if you don't know where you're going. Creating an image of how you'd like things to be instead of how they are will provide a positive focus for therapy. My job as a therapist is to help in creating that image, guide you in moving forward, and assist you in resolving past and current issues that get in the way.

"I JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW WE GOT HERE." Sound familiar? It does to me, because I've heard it over and over in my office. By the time many couples make it into counseling, they feel disillusioned and angry, even hopeless. Please know, however, that there is hope! Research into relationships shows that couples can discover and change how they interact, leading to a restoration of the connection they once had, or the creation of the one they always wanted.

I work with families who feel stuck. Maybe you simply cannot seem to change the pattern of conflict in your marriage, or your teen’s behavior or emotional experience is more than you can handle. Infidelity Therapists

How does therapy for infidelity work?

A skilled infidelity therapist will provide a safe space for clients to communicate their feelings and concerns. The goal is to be completely honest about what led to the cheating and how it has affected the entire family to prevent it from recurring in the future. The therapist will help the clients work on rebuilding mutual trust and respect and developing better communication and conflict-resolution skills. If the goal is to remain a couple, clients will learn the “danger signs” for their specific relationship, and they will make a renewed commitment to be faithful.

How long does therapy for infidelity take?

Recovery from infidelity can take time, and it can vary from person to person. Generally, a therapist will want to see the clients at least once a week for around six months. Then the sessions can be arranged as needed, depending on the clients’ individual needs. While therapy may end or shift to an as-needed basis, it can take up to two years or more for some clients to fully recover from infidelity.

How does therapy help the partner who was cheated on?

When a client discovers their partner’s infidelity, their trust in the relationship and in the life they had together may be shattered. They often experience mental health symptoms, such as anxiety, depression, grief, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). They don’t always want to stay in the relationship; they may feel ambivalent or may even want to leave. Therapy gives these clients a safe and healthy way to communicate all of their complicated emotions and concerns.

How does therapy help the partner who committed infidelity?

Infidelity often occurs when one or both partners’ emotional needs are not being met in the relationship. Therapy can help this client understand why they cheated and figure out how to address those unmet needs without resorting to infidelity in the future. This can lessen (but not entirely eliminate) the risk of repeated infidelity. Clients who cheat may also feel intense guilt about deceiving their partners, a sentiment that they can work through in therapy.
