We offer a wide variety of groups, including DBT, interpersonal, spirituality and expressive therapies.
It's confusing and overwhelming to be living in our world today. You are gifted, highly sensitive, and often feel overwhelmed by what you experience and perceive in the world. You are intuitive, creative, expressive, full of spunk, and zest. Yet you get frustrated by old patterns, lack of follow-through and being inconsistent. This impacts your performance, relationships and most important your life mission. Embark in a deep, spiritual transformation, met with compassion, support, authenticity and kindness! I'll push you to become your best self, and let go of what is not working in your life in a fun and collaborative process.

For clients who have concerns about their spiritual life, I integrate a solid psychotherapeutic approach into an in-depth exploration of their spirituality .
Life is hard. Hurt happens to all of us. Sometimes it is intentional, sometimes unintentional. When it happens, we are left with a wound that, if left unexamined, can affect every aspect of our lives: body, soul, and spirit. Lancing the wound can be painful, especially those wounds caused by trauma and abuse, but the compromised life that we live if we don't examine the wounds is often as painful as the original wound. Choosing to face the pain is a courageous act, and successful resolution requires a safe and supportive atmosphere with safe and knowledgeable professionals.

Research has shown the value of integrating one's spirituality and/or faith belief system into the mental, emotional, and physical dimensions of a client's healing process.
Currently, I am full and not able to accept any new clients till May 2021. My mission and passion is to educate, promote, and inspire physical, mental, emotional and spiritual health to individuals struggling with any of the following issues: eating disorders/disordered eating, physical activity, trauma/PTSD/anxiety, alcohol/drug abuse, and valued-living. Choosing a therapist to journey with during times of pain and struggle is a very important first step to self-healing. I meet clients where they are at, and work collaboratively to move in directions of values-based living, self-empowerment, personal knowledge, and healing.

I believe in a holistic approach to helping, which includes (but is not limited to) relationships, spirituality , exercise, diet, sleep and recreation.
Although I work with a broad range of clients and subjects my passion and experience are best suited for marriage, parenting, young men and adolescent boys. Because of my age and experience I can connect effectively with both parent and child in a way that brings the whole family closer together.

There may come a time in your life when you intuitively know things are off and you're looking for change, perhaps in areas such as identity, career, faith/ spirituality or relationships. You may have also had change forced on you through accident, injury or illness and you are struggling with how to adjust. You might be feeling out of place, guilty or at blame for wanting things to be different. There are times you may not even be aware of where that change needs to occur. I want to help clients find out what is truly important to them, so that they can build a meaningful life with self-acceptance at the core.

I utilize EMDR, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, conflict resolution skills, communication coaching, identity exploration through the lens of the Enneagram, spirituality , and attachment-based family therapy.
For the past twenty years I have devoted my life to coming alongside others in their restorative journeys. Along the way, I have acquired evidence-based behavioral techniques and therapeutic tools; when combined, these often facilitate the restoration my clients are looking for. I see myself as a fellow sojourner on your passage; whether it is an interpersonal issue, transitional season, trauma, family impasse or relationship that needs mending. My hope is you will find an authentic and emotionally safe space to work through your current struggles.

Everyone sees your “perfect” relationship, telling you how lucky you are to have your partner by your side. You smile and nod in agreeance, but behind closed doors, you know the truth: tension, fighting, lack of intimacy, exhaustion with one another, and constant miscommunication. You feel like you are constantly walking on eggshells, never knowing what will lead to the next fight or night in complete silence. You have tried hard to fix these issues but are losing energy, and frankly losing hope.

I have thirty years experience in private practice. My background is primarily in philosophy, dialogue and self-inquiry, in ‘ontology’(what has to do with being a self), in religious and spiritual traditions, and transpersonal psychology. I regard teachings that see human problems and suffering as part of our conscious development as more accurate and more helpful than disorder-based theories prevalent in modern medicine and modern psychology. They are more effective because they help us see the source of our problems with a depth that enables us to grow towards the health and fulfillment we innately long for.

Fifteen years ago, in my late 20s, I faced an existential crisis. The pain and shame of knowing I was meant for more—more happiness, meaning, and purpose—without knowing how to get there was overwhelming. At times, terrifying. With the help of others, I discovered my unique path to an authentic, self-led life. My mission as a therapist is to return that gift. I believe we all have an innate ability to heal from past wounds, rewrite our inner story, and reunite with a sense of self that feels whole, connected, and fulfilled. If reading this stirs something in you, the work is already beginning.

Spirituality Therapists

What should I expect from therapy that incorporates a focus on spirituality?

Spirituality can mean different things to different individuals, depending on their experiences, beliefs, and life histories. Some individuals focus on strengthening their belief system, while others experience spirituality in secular ways, such as through meditation, yoga, or by spending time in nature. Clients can expect a therapist to help guide and grow their spirituality through any of these techniques, encouraging the individual to cope with the challenges they face and develop strategies to build resilience and purpose to improve their outlook in life.

What are the most common treatments that include spirituality?

There are several treatments that incorporate spirituality. Mindfulness-based cognitive therapy (MBCT) helps a person examine and reframe their negative thoughts and behaviors. Acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT) focuses on emotional acceptance and psychological flexibility. Existential therapy is most often used to address anxiety, depression, grief, loneliness, apathy, despair, questions of identity, and feelings of purposelessness and existential dread. Transpersonal therapy focuses on a client’s spirituality and meaning in life and may incorporate techniques including meditation, visualization, hypnotherapy, dream analysis, and or breathwork.

Can therapy incorporating spirituality help atheistic or agnostic individuals?

Yes. For non-believers, spirituality can offer benefits including a greater sense of connection to others and to the natural world. An interest in spirituality may also spur individuals to pursue mindfulness practices, or to contemplate their purpose in life and how to achieve it.

How effective is spirituality as a therapeutic remedy?

Research suggests spirituality is generally beneficial for individuals. It is correlated with better health habits, such as less substance use, and an improved capacity to cope with stress and other mental health challenges. Increased spirituality can lead individuals to become more empathic and less materialistic, as well.
