I am passionate about working with women, couples (including interracial and multicultural couples ) and adolescents.
Everyone has seasons in life where they are struggling and need help. I provide a supportive and nonjudgemental space to receive support and healing for anxiety, depression, life changes (such as divorce, birth, marriage, moving, new jobs), loss, trauma, emotional regulation, relationships problems and even general goal setting. I believe the key to life satisfaction is identifying your core values and then working to align your behaviors and decisions with those values.

I specialize in working with individuals, couples and families to create more loving relationships with themselves - prompting better boundaries, alignment with our higher selves, inner knowing and deeper wisdom and clarity of our own truth.
We all get scared sometimes - scared things will change, scared things won’t change, scared of who we truly are or who we might become. Life can really throw us for a loop. It takes real bravery to face the things that scare us. And only through that bravery can we actually accept ourselves for who we are, what we truly want and what part we’ve had in creating the thing that scares us. Once we can accept this, we can begin to create a life reflecting truth, authenticity and integrity.

As a Certified Sexual Addiction Therapist (CSAT), I hold extensive expertise in treating those affected by compulsive sexual behavior having gone through my own recovery journey from sex, porn, and relationship addiction.
As a Certified Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT) trained in IFS as a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional (CCTP), I am absolutely passionate about helping those impacted by sexual integrity issues. I work with "addicted parts" using individual, couple, and group therapy modalities. I am quite aware of relational trauma that partners of sex, porn, and relationship addicts experience, and I compassionately work to guide addicted parts through isolating and shame-filled experiences. My role is to help reduce this shame and systematically get to the root of the addictive and compulsive behaviors that have led to intimacy disorder issues.

I warmly invite you to please reach out with any questions regarding individual, couples , or group therapy.
Finding the right support can be an overwhelming and difficult task, especially when anxiety and life stressors no longer feel manageable. I welcome my clients with empathy, understanding, and compassion, as I strive to meet each person exactly where they are. I believe in a strong relational model, because although trauma can happen from relationships, we can also heal our trauma with relationships. I am passionate about people, and work with clients ages 4 and up. Although I work with a wide variety of people, I specialize in working with children, preteens, and teens.

The problems and symptoms bringing you to seek therapy might be connected to things you wish never happened. This can be overwhelming to feel and vulnerable to invite another person to be with you. Deep down you may be hoping for change and eager for healing, but unsure of how to get it. I believe psychotherapy is a sacred process that can look underneath the surface and explore deeply-rooted issues to help create long lasting and significant change. My hope is to partner with you to help you understand yourself, deepen your relationships with others, and foster your healing journey.

your spouse is upset because you are always rehearsing or painting or.
I call my practice "Life in Waves" because the experience of life goes up and down. Although we all experience change, it doesn't mean that we can always effectively handle the stress of transition. Sometimes we feel "lost at sea". With support, people can learn to surf the waves of change, steer in the direction that is right for them, and find the clarity, creativity, and humor to help them stay afloat.

Navigating life transitions, relationships, anxiety and/or depression, relationship to food and body, and balancing career or school demands are some of the issues I help women to better manage.
I feel a person's history, current life situation, and steps they are taking towards the future are all part of the therapeutic process. Often times, just talking with someone and hearing ourselves speak out loud what has been in our private thoughts helps to initially ease some of that burden. In addition to offering a non-judgmental space for you to process your concerns, I will collaborate with you on strategies for better managing what feels challenging for you right now.

As we partner together to discuss what underlies this pain, I can help to increase coping skills and reduce symptoms and offer hope for finding a course of treatment for lasting change.
Finding the right therapist can be a challenging task. Each practitioner offers different styles and theoretical approaches to assist you in reaching your goals. You have taken the first step and hopefully you will be able to determine if I am the right therapist to help you. One of the most important aspects of the therapy process is connecting with your therapist and feeling safe in the relationship . There are many ways a therapist can create this environment, but the best therapy style is the one that works best for you.

I am skilled in helping explore and untangle experiences of being multicultural, LGBTQIA+, or in relationship with someone who does not share your identities.
Healing begins when we feel supported by another person. I offer Gestalt therapy, with a foundation in Social Justice Counseling. I am acutely aware that power, privilege, and oppression exist at the forefront of all relationships, which is why my work with you will take into account the ways your identity shapes your experience of walking in this world. As a bicultural, trilingual woman, I am passionate about expanding strengths that already exist in you and I am familiar with navigating the confusion of holding various identities.

I have been in practice for over 30 years. After receiving my Ph.D from the University of Colorado and completing a 3 year Post-Doctorate at UCLA I returned to Colorado to build my practice. For the first several years I worked in both Inpatient and Outpatient environments. As a result I have experience working with a wide range of psychological issues. Currently, I work from my office or do video conferencing therapy with individuals who most frequently present with symptoms of anxiety and/or depression. I work with adults and couples .

Couples Counseling Therapists

Does couples counseling work?

Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.

When should a couple seek counseling?

Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.

How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?

The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.

How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?

The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
