Transpersonal means “trans” transcend beyond the person “personal”. This style of therapy uses different modalities to work beyond the ego-self. It consists of working with 3 layers; the mind, body, and soul. This might look like EMDR, hypnosis, yoga, meditation, dreamwork, astrology, CBT, and other techniques to explore all levels of our experience. I am a trauma therapist and specialize in transpersonal practices such as EMDR, Hypnosis, Womb Awakening, Sexual Trauma, Inner Child Healing, and much more. While I have training in many modalities of therapy, I believe connecting back to true authenticity is so important.

My training is in clinical mental health counseling, with concentrations in transpersonal psychology and contemplative psychology.
Beginning therapy can be one of the most important decisions you’ll ever make, and I want you to know how much I honor the courage it takes to pursue a more connected, authentic life for yourself. I work with clients in pursuit of the insight and self-compassion necessary to identify needs and progress toward goals. So often, unconscious dynamics and inherited patterns of behavior dominate our lives. These processes usually exist beneath or outside of our conscious awareness. My role is to help you encounter the truth of your life, while embodying enough kindness to change.

I have decades of experience in the fields of personal growth (since 1990) and mental health (2004); I've developed an approach based on Internal Family Systems (IFS), gestalt, and other models, called Conscious Heart Integration (CHI). It's gentle and transformative, and many clients say it's different than anything else they've tried. CHI goes beyond talk therapy. Of course, effective treatment includes being witnessed, heard, and deeply understood, but there is much more possible in healing spaces. Somatic, parts-based, and transpersonal models have opened the door for more experiential, holistic, and transformational treatment.

I combine modern research with ancient wisdom, utilizing my on-going study and training in neuroscience, arousal and attachment theories, Psychobiological Approach to Couple Therapy (PACT), Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, Transpersonal and Jungian psychologies, Internal Family Systems and a generous sprinkling of the Wise Woman Herbal Tradition.
As humans, our desire for connection and belonging is innate, healthy and our birthright. Too often, parts of us seem to sabotage our relationships and peace of mind by utilizing old learned patterns, meant to protect, but now limiting our fullest expressions of love and security. When we explore, honor and understand the origins of these parts and turn toward them with compassion, we offer ourselves the opportunity to integrate and heal old wounds, to live and love in the present, informed by, but not limited by the past. I assist individuals and couples in transforming themselves and their relationships.

I draw from depth psychology, psychodynamic, humanistic, transpersonal and existential theories to inform my work.
As your therapist I will work hard to provide you with the tools to overcome obstacles and reach your personal goals. Unlocking your potential will be our primary aim along with developing an awareness of how we create our own blocks. You will also work towards becoming more yourself as strange as that may sound! This involves getting in touch with your own psyche to discover, or rediscover, what makes you tick. It can be an incredibly rewarding process.

The symptoms that have us seek professional help are often spiritual in nature. Anxiety, depression, stress, relationship difficulties, addiction, feelings of hopelessness and despair are more than just a reaction to the events in our lives, but the result of how connected we feel to ourselves and to the Divine. Transpersonal Counseling and Inner Child Work is a way to build that connection. When we enter relationship with our Inner Child the symptoms of our suffering naturally diminish. We are better able to live in alignment with our values, set healthy boundaries for ourselves and with others, and express the truth of who we are.

Along with a Masters in Counseling (specializing in Transpersonal Psychology/Wilderness Therapy), I am trained in the body-centered, mindfulness-based work of Hakomi Therapy, and in the nature-based work of the Animas Valley Institute.
I work with clients who are struggling with various kinds of human suffering-- including depression, anxiety, mood disorders, and the more general experiences of navigating life's difficulties and challenges. I offer support and tools for staying with the experiences, and by bringing support and accompaniment, generating kindness and curiosity toward all experiences together, we find more space to breathe and grow through these experiences. I work with adults, adolescents, and queer/gender non-conforming populations of all kinds. I bring the experiences of working with my own challenges to my practice of working with others.

I specialize in body-centered, mindfulness-based, transpersonal psychotherapy.
I offer support for all forms of trauma. I provide a safe space for individuals, couples and groups to transform old trauma. Through this healing process, the client experiences a sense of choice that may have not been available before. This begins to enhance their relationship with themselves and others. There is opportunity for connection with one's own body wisdom and a sense of inner freedom. This cultivates feelings of empowerment, an ability to trust oneself and to align with what feels true. Client's begin to experience themselves as more present, compassionate toward themselves and others while living an embodied life.

I use transpersonal and strength-based therapies to bring awareness to what underlies your experiences of illness and pain, and how you can use your strengths to build resilience, and choose your way forward.
We follow many paths in life in a continuous flow, yet if we hit a log jam it can be impossible to move at all. Activities of daily life become stressful, relationships tense, work, too hard. Our inner critic quickly points out flaws, and we can begin to doubt our abilities. Anxiety and depression, stop us. Then illness or pain start to come, and pushing beyond our limits leads to emotional despair or “chronic” health issues. Eventually we wonder how we got here, and how or if, we can get back to our flow, yet we don’t know where to begin. If this is you, don’t give up, or give in.

Transpersonal Therapists

How does transpersonal therapy work?

Transpersonal therapy focuses on a patient’s spirituality and meaning in life. Transpersonal therapists might borrow from Eastern traditions as well as Western psychology. They may incorporate techniques including meditation, visualization, hypnotherapy, dream analysis, and or breathwork to produce altered states of consciousness. The therapist helps the patient to access their consciousness and spirituality to work through difficult mental states.

How long does transpersonal therapy last?

Because the goal is to understand a person as a whole, including their spirituality, treatment can range from months to a year or beyond. While patients learn the philosophy behind transpersonal therapy during treatment, they can also practice its principles throughout life after therapy sessions have ended.

Is transpersonal therapy effective?

Patients have found success with transpersonal therapy; this method is useful in improving anxiety, depression, self-esteem, identity, fears, relationship problems, and other concerns. Improvements in problem areas can continue even after transpersonal therapy ends, as individuals can utilize the tools they’ve learned during treatment sessions.

What are the limitations of transpersonal therapy?

There is some research on the effectiveness of transpersonal therapy, but empirical support for this therapy approach is sparse. It does not have the robust evidence base of other forms of therapy, such as cognitive behavioral therapy or acceptance and commitment therapy.
