I have a special interest in working with LGBTQIA + folks, children and adolescents, and neurodiversity.
Each of us is incredibly unique, shaped by both biology and experience, but we all share in the ebb and flow of life; the universality of our human experiences binds us all inextricably together. With transparency, unconditional positive regard, and humor, I will always strive to facilitate a safe and dependable environment so that I can encourage you to be vulnerable, honest, and reflective… all while learning about and connecting with you in the process. I set out to understand what differentiates you and your reality, paying close attention to early childhood experiences, identity, culture, and social systems.

I offer queer -centered, body-centered, and affirming expertise to fuel your process.
You can’t believe your questioning your sexual orientation at this point in your life. Muscles tense and heart pounds as you clear your search history to hide it from your spouse. Fear and shame catch in your throat and freeze your breath. “Do I really have to be doing this NOW?! Don’t most people figure this out in their teens?! This can’t be happening." You’ve tried to ignore it but the pent-up energy and longing in your body only grow stronger with each passing day. You're distracted at work and distant in your relationships. It may be time to face the truth, but you have no F-ing idea how to proceed.

I am LGBQ+, Transgender and Non-Binary affirming.
From navigating relationships, careers, identity, politics, culture; adulting is no small task for a person of any age..... let alone navigating overwhelming emotions, eating, sleeping and trauma on top of the energy it takes to get by on a daily basis. Some part of your life maybe feels elusive and takes a lot of extra energy...like being able to stay in relationships, be at peace in your body or satisfied with how you present yourself to the world. Therapy can be a helpful place to sort through all the messages that are unhelpful and get clear on what your real needs are.

Trained in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, EMDR, PACT (Psychobiological Couple's Work), Attachment theory, and Neurobiology, I am passionate queer relationships, couples, and individuals with developmental trauma, high sensitivity, social anxiety, shame, grief, depression, LGBTQIA + identity, and the impacts of systemic oppression.
With a foundation of trauma-sensitive mindfulness, I collaboratively create a client-centered space for people to uncover obstacles that block aliveness, connection, safety, intimacy, transformation, resiliency, and joy. With an awake heart, clarity, and nonjudgmental presence, I help clients find perspective, make meaning of life’s difficulties, access their innate wisdom, and gain skills to thrive and emerge into their full self. From European white ancestry and queer lineages, I am an artist and Buddhist practitioner who derives inspiration and purpose from the forces of nature, meditation, and relationships.

I specialize in ADHD, graceful divorce & recovery, LGBTQIA +, healthy communication, and increasing intimacy (physical, emotional, financial, and more).
With warmth, humor, and honesty, I strive to create a place where you can feel supported, seen, and safe to explore what life has thrown your way. As I’ve done this work over the last fifteen years, I’ve learned that joy is in everything, including the hard things we pull away from. So many of us never really learned how to human well. We believe what we think, we resist our emotional experiences, and we try to grip and control what cannot be, all while feeling overwhelmed and lost. I can help you get out of your head, learn to manage your feelings, heal your relationships and create the life you want. You can do this. I can help.

I'm deeply familiar with LGBTQ +, geek/gamer culture, Paganism, alt.
When something in your life isn't working, when everything that usually keeps you going isn't enough, therapy can help. As a counselor, I seek to build a compassionate, safe, therapeutic relationship with you, so that we can work together to explore what's happening in your life, learn new ways of coping, and find what you need to grow. Many of my clients come to me for collaboration around life transitions and identity crises of all kinds. One of my strengths is putting into context what you’re dealing with, given your personal and cultural background, and societal dynamics and differences.

I specialize in high-functioning adults, therapists, sexuality, LGBTQIA +, ENM/Poly, HAES, low self-esteem, anxiety, and self-actualization.
Are you looking to deepen your therapeutic journey beyond what CBT and other “talk therapies” can offer? Are you interested in exploring a more short-term therapeutic approach for a few specific issues? Do you want to experience altered states of consciousness substance-free? Try Hypnotherapy! One client described working with me as, “An immersive experience into my subconscious that was actually energizing! I’ve been in therapy my entire adult life. I wish I had known sooner that this is an option!” Hypnotherapy is great for neutralizing anxiety, phobias, childhood wounds, codependency, self-sabotage, addictions and more.

Psychotherapy is not always about focusing on the problems in life but is often more about solution building. Although it acknowledges present problems and past causes, it predominantly explores your current resources and future hopes – helping you to look forward and use your own strengths to achieve your goals. It works by helping you to overcome problems using solution building concepts to foster change and helping you to develop a set of clear, concise and realistic goals. I help individuals, couples and families find their way again. I am a LGBTQ + affirming, and gender-affirming therapist.

I love working alongside adults and teens who are ready to explore what is going on underneath their symptoms. Clients I support seek therapy for help with anxiety, depression, self-harm, and/or suicidal ideation among other difficult things. Often (though not always), clients are part of the LGBTQ + community and are interested in figuring out how their experience of gender identity and/or sexuality fits into their mental health and lives. First, we get to know you better while we find ways to cope with symptoms. When you’re ready, we take a deep dive together into what’s causing life to feel hard, unmanageable, or even unlivable.

My primary areas of focus are helping people heal from chronic pain and health conditions and working with transgender clients beyond the transition process. Most chronic pain is actually quite treatable but requires the correct understanding of pain and the right tools to work through it. In most cases, chronic pain is a case of your brain sending out a danger signal when your body is actually not in danger. When this is happening, we can teach your brain to stop sending out that danger signal.

As a queer and non-binary person myself (pronouns: they/them/their), I have special interest in LGBTQIAP populations.
There is a way through this. We will find it together. I believe in the power of authentic expression and deep relationships. I incorporate contemplative, somatic, and social justice approaches in my counseling. I work with adults and couples focusing on identity, gender, and relationships. I provide a collaborative approach utilizing mind-body and present moment awareness to support you in connecting with your intrinsic health and inherent wisdom. As meditator, dancer, gardener, and herbalist I value time to reflect, slow down, be with nature, and developing our capacity to move from the heart with courage and gentleness.

I have training in DBT, CBT, Brief Solution Focused Therapy, Trauma and Attachment, Transgender Issues, and certifications in addictions counseling.
The desire to be connected to others is innate, and yet we sometimes find ourselves alone, hopeless, sad, scared, and angry. I believe that being connected to ourselves and others is part of the human experience, and recovery from symptoms that interrupt our ability to live our lives to the fullest is possible. I have over 20 years of experience working with individuals who struggle with issues related to depression, anxiety, trauma and addiction. I believe change and insight are possible, and freedom from pain and suffering is attainable.

LGBTQ+ Therapists

Do LGBTQ-affirmative therapists receive special training?

Yes. Many therapists who practice LGBTQ-affirmative therapy have completed specialized training, either during their degree program or as continuing education, to learn the core principles of affirmative therapy and how to best support their LGBTQ clients; some have received certifications in LGBTQ-affirmative therapy. Prospective clients should inquire as to a clinician’s background and training to ensure a good fit.

Why might I want to see an LGBTQ-affirming or LGBTQ-friendly therapist?

Queer and gender-non-conforming individuals frequently experience bias and marginalization in day-to-day life. Working with a therapist who understands these unique challenges, as well as accepts and affirms their identity, can help LGBTQ clients feel safe and supported during therapy—allowing them to better navigate their relationships, mental health, and anything else that they wish to explore during therapy. It is important to note that many therapists can be effective in their work with LGBTQ+ individuals, even in the absence of specific training or background knowledge. The most important component in therapy is the alliance between therapist and client, and this alliance can exist between individuals with very different backgrounds.

How can I find an LGBTQ-friendly therapist?

You may wish to inquire about a therapist’s expertise with your specific challenges or concerns—depression, for example, or relationship strife—as well as their past experiences treating LGBTQ+ clients. Prospective clients may also ask whether a therapist has obtained additional training and/or certification in LGBTQ-affirmative techniques.

How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience with LGBTQ issues?

Prospective clients should feel empowered to directly ask therapists whether they have received training or been certified in LGBTQ-affirming therapy; competent therapists will be happy to explain their educational background and preferred approach(es) to help a client find the best match for them. Clients may also wish to ask how a therapist has treated clients with their particular challenges in the past and what they expect treatment to look like.

Are all the therapists listed in the LGBTQ directory themselves members of the LGBTQ community?

While therapists may choose to disclose their sexual orientation or gender identity in their profiles, the LGBTQ directory features not only those who have shared this information but also those who assert specialized training or experience in providing support to queer individuals, couples or families.
