In addition to my private practice, I teach, train and supervise Masters level students in Counseling/Psychology and facilitate groups for women survivors of sexual trauma.
My approach to health and well-being is rooted in the belief that we have within us the capacity to live satisfying, engaged and meaningful lives. But often we find ourselves in unhealthy and isolating patterns, resulting in anxiety, depression, addictions, and conflictual relationship with those we love and work with. I help people get to the core root of what is holding them back and transform limiting patterns so they can live a happy, healthy life. My style is direct, supportive and creative, integrating the healing power of humor, horses and the great outdoors!

The world is a playground—we've always known that. Yet, as we grow up, it can often seem cruel and dangerous, far from the wonderland we once imagined. Society’s standards bombard us, leading us to lose ourselves in endless comparison games. My mission is to build a genuine connection with you. Together, we can create a safe space to heal from the past and reconnect with your true self, the one that shines brightly and plays freely, at your own pace. You are dynamic and unique. Traditional talk therapy alone is not enough.

My clients are folks longing to navigate life's challenges with clarity and meaning. I see psychotherapy as a digestive enzyme that helps people process all that life is asking of them. It can be transformative to be heard and supported (and sometimes challenged) by a therapist. My relational and existential approach is also warm, creative, and non-judgmental. Confidentiality is the cornerstone of therapy, and one size doesn’t fit all, so I offer a collaborative approach that works with each client's preference for how they like to be supported.

Transformation only happens in relationship. The absence of a relational home for transformation generally leads to superficial temporary changes. We make ourselves stuck by building walls of protection around us, which probably made perfect sense at the time. However, walls of protection eventually become walls of constriction. These walls lead us to the illusion of having no choices in our situation, to the belief that life is happening to us, instead of what is true, that we are living our lives and making choices of how we live life.

I specialize in working with individuals with neurodevelopmental disabilities including autism, learning disabilities, intellectual disabilities, and ADHD. I work with both children and adults, providing evaluations from a neuro-positive perspective. Note: I continue to provide autism and ADHD evaluations for most ages, but I keep the therapy portion of my practice very limited. Because of the limited number of providers working with adults on the spectrum, I am still accepting adult therapy clients with a previous diagnosis of autism.

I partner with clients facing systemic barriers like economic challenges, educational disparities, and issues related to race, gender, and sexuality. I also support those with chronic illness/pain, guiding them toward acceptance and commitment in their journeys. I understand how ongoing stress and trauma can lead to anxiety, depression, and physical discomfort. My approach is informed by liberatory training and my own experiences as a trauma survivor, allowing me to empathize with those seeking lasting relief. A key focus of my work is helping clients safely reconnect with their bodies and explore trauma through the nervous system.

of issues, including PTSD, grief and loss, anxiety, depression, parenting, women’s issues, relationship issues and self esteem.
Often, when I speak to clients who are new to therapy, they will ask me, “So how does this therapy thing work?” It is normal to be nervous when you start therapy. I strive to make the process as comfortable as possible. The first thing I focus on is laying the groundwork for successful therapy: essentially, I develop a relationship with you that feels comfortable, collaborative and not intimidating. My approach to counseling incorporates acceptance, compassion and a sense of humor into our work. Through experience, I have learned that you will benefit the most from a collaborative approach.

Life often presents us with challenges that can make it difficult to find a way back to overall wellness. People enter therapy for a variety of reasons. Maybe you have lost a loved one or a life transition has caused anxiety and stress. Perhaps you or someone you know is struggling with addiction. You might be having a difficult time with self-confidence or depression. Developing skills to find healthy balance within ourselves and with others is needed for stability and happiness.

One of life's few guarantees is that things will come crashing down on us from time to time. And in these moments when we are dealing with the unimaginable, we need support, to be heard, and to not be alone. I love working with both the seasoned therapy client and the hesitant newbie who has never tried therapy before. I strive to provide internal coping strategies to stay grounded when overwhelmed, brainstorm practical external solutions, and create a safe space that conveys warmth and comfort. My office often conveys tears, as well as laughter and some swearing:)

I specialize in working with women and adolescents, with a Christ-centered approach to counseling.
If you've been contemplating counseling, now is the time! As a Christian Therapist, I believe that God desires so much more for us than we are currently experiencing. If you're feeling heavy, life can be lighter. If you're struggling to see change in your life, a new more peaceful life is possible. Your desires, goals and dreams for life are not selfish, and I believe that Christ calls us to live life to the full. If your life does not feel "full", change is possible. You were meant for more.

Female Therapists
Does it matter what gender my therapist is?
In general, this is not an important factor, as there is no relationship between a therapist’s gender and their efficacy. Some clients, however, prefer to see therapists of a particular gender, whether due to their own past experiences with men and women, or ingrained beliefs about how people of different genders think and behave. Exploring the roots of such preferences and considering what one wants to address in therapy can help someone determine whether their therapist’s gender truly matters to them.
Should I see a female therapist?
Many people—not just women—prefer to see a female therapist, either because they believe that a woman will be able to relate to their specific challenges (for example, sexism in the workplace) or because they imagine feeling more comfortable disclosing sensitive information to a woman. Such beliefs may not turn out to be accurate, however, and adhering too rigidly to a gender preference can at times hinder a client from finding the best therapeutic match.
Do therapists get specific training to help with women’s concerns?
Therapists are trained to provide care to clients of any gender. However, some therapists—both men and women—may pursue additional training in feminist therapy, gender-specific issues, or women’s mental health. Female clients may wish to ask prospective therapists whether they have received specific training in the client’s primary area(s) of concern, or whether they have worked extensively with women on issues similar to their own.
How can I inquire about a therapist’s experience in treating women?
It’s OK—even encouraged!—to ask a therapist directly whether and how often they have treated women in the past, or whether they have treated women dealing with the client’s most prominent concern(s). Competent therapists will be happy to share their educational background, preferred treatment modalities, and prior client experience to help an individual find the therapist best suited to their needs.
