I specialize in Neurodiversity and Dark-Triad Personality Traits, which means I primarily cater to people: (1) with innately idiosyncratic brains (Autism,
ADHD
, OCD, Dyslexia, Sensory Processing Issues, etc); (2) who have been subjected to narcissistic abuse; (3) that are self-aware narcissists or psychopaths who want to be better adjusted. These two populations appear to be surprisingly intertwined socially, unwittingly seeking one another, and having the other group in their lives. Unusual and/or extreme brains have such a rhythm to their interpersonal relationships, which is frequently colorful, but not without its burdens.

, graceful divorce & recovery, LGBTQIA+, healthy communication, and increasing intimacy (physical, emotional, financial, and more).
With warmth, humor, and honesty, I strive to create a place where you can feel supported, seen, and safe to explore what life has thrown your way. As I’ve done this work over the last fifteen years, I’ve learned that joy is in everything, including the hard things we pull away from. So many of us never really learned how to human well. We believe what we think, we resist our emotional experiences, and we try to grip and control what cannot be, all while feeling overwhelmed and lost. I can help you get out of your head, learn to manage your feelings, heal your relationships and create the life you want. You can do this. I can help.

My specialties include anxiety, depression, grief, parenting,
ADHD
, and relationship conflicts.
Life can be very stressful, especially today in our fast-paced, post-COVID world. You may be trying to make sense of what you are feeling. Maybe you are experiencing anxiety or depression. Maybe you are a parent feeling overwhelmed and exhausted. Possibly you have experienced a loss of some kind. A loved one, a job, a home, your health, or any other loss. Unexpressed grief can complicate your emotional wellness. In the words of William Shakespeare: “Give sorrow words; the grief that does not speak knits up the o-er wrought heart and bids it break.” Telling your story can help you move through the pain and suffering.

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?
You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.
How does treatment for ADHD work?
Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.
Are there specific medications for ADHD?
Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.
How long does treatment for ADHD take?
It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
