My passion is supporting parents who have experienced difficult births. Bringing another life into this world is an important and challenging experience. Whether you are the individual who gave birth or a witness, there can be immediate and/or lasting waves of physical and emotional difficulties that may effect your life. These paths are unique to each of us because every birth is important and impactful. My work is to listen and journey with you as you explore your birth story and the impacts it has had on your life. Although this is an area of focus, I work with adolescents and adults needing support in other areas of life.
Parents I work with have experiences that might include premature births and NICCU stays, medical challenges for parent/baby, birth trauma/fear, loss over not experiencing the birth that was planned, stillbirth, perinatal/postpartum depression, discrimination due to sexual orientation or gender expression, or grief from losing the little one you carried.
As a Dance/Movement Therapist, I use verbal and non-verbal methods to guide parents in the present moment in exploring/expressing. Because giving birth is a physical act, using the body to process is an essential part of integrating the birthing experience.
