These modalities empower my clients to find healing within and are very effective with a wide variety of medical and psychological conditions such as anxiety, chronic pain, fear, asthma, IBS,
PTSD
, and self-esteem.
My approach includes blending Eastern and Western somatic modalities with cognitive and transpersonal counseling psychology. With a strong focus on mindfulness, this process allows you to become aware of your thoughts, feelings, and sensations and how they manifest in your body. Somatic psychotherapy differs from traditional psychotherapy in that it explores and relies on the wisdom of the mind-body-spirit connection as a powerful gateway for healing, expanding awareness, and developing resilience.

I work with people who want a nontraditional therapy approach. I believe a lot can be restored within ourselves through our reconnection back to our innate human nature. Many of us are disconnected from our intuition or inner wisdom due to the fast paced technological world we live in. By reconnecting back to the natural world that we are apart of through play, presence, and exploration we can begin to allow peace, balance, and joy back into our lives. We can then begin to work through whatever arises from a more empowered and regulated state. I navigate my sessions with a
trauma
informed, client-centered and directed lens.

Have you tried traditional talk therapy and still need something more? I work with people who want a different approach. I utilize nature, play, energy, and animal-assisted therapy to help support the healing journey. Clients come seeking support for various reasons but I specialize in
trauma
and attachment, parenting for children who are struggling, empowerment and self-esteem. Using methods like expressive arts, yoga, partnering with nature and animals, healing happens emotionally, spiritually, cognitively and physically. I have a laid back style and you will often find me dressed in sweats, yoga pants, or hiking boots.

In this life, it is impossible to come out unscathed. As we journey forward we continue to accrue new scars, bruises, and scrapes. It often seems the world asks that we simply put a band-aid on our deep wounds and keep moving; when so often our injuries and brokenness need more attention and care. As a therapist I take a very relational approach to counseling. I enjoy working with motivated and insightful, teens and adults who are looking for help with
trauma
recovery, anxiety & depression, grief & loss, ADHD, and life transitions.

I love working with children, teenagers, and adults struggling with behavioral concerns and mental health related issues. I find this work incredibly rewarding, to identify needs behind behaviors, feelings, and thoughts, and creating empathy and compassion beyond power struggles or difficult dynamics in order to improve family health and individual functioning. I believe firmly that
trauma
occurs in relationships and is healed through relationships. I greatly value the impact of healthy and safe relationships in therapy and beyond to create meaningful connections with others and to improve one's overall mental health and wellbeing

Everyone can benefit from therapy! I specialize in treating
trauma
, addictive behaviors, substance use, mood disorders, and anxiety.
You've heard the saying "everything happens for a reason". I believe this can be true, but there are also many occurrences in our lives that don't always make sense, even if we can still derive some sort of meaning from them. On more of a personal level, I believe our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors are happening for a reason and I seek to help you find those answers. Oftentimes, these reasons are connected to past experiences, whether that be from your childhood or other significant moments in time. And depending on how you experienced that event, your perceptions about yourself, others, and the world have been impacted.

When should I seek treatment for trauma?
Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.
How long does trauma therapy take?
Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.
What happens if trauma is left untreated?
Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.
Can PTSD come back after treatment?
It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
