Waitlist for new clients
I work with adults whose concerns include depression and anxiety symptoms, trauma responses like PTSD and personality disorder traits, experiences of reality disconnection like hallucinations and dissociation, as well as life stressors and desire for greater understanding of self.
I have learned from 14 years of working with diverse clients that what we seek is often inside of us in one form or another, but hidden deep. We struggle because we learned strategies that helped us cope with times when we didn’t get what we needed or when we were harmed, and those strategies became our default. In our sessions, we will use methods like Internal Family Systems (IFS), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), and person-centered therapies to help you let go of what no longer serves you and develop new ways of being.

With couples, you might be here because of a disconnect in your relationship, maybe emotionally, physically, or through communication. I work in the roots – where did it start, what are the patterns, what needs to be said, how can we work to hear it? I also work with practical skills – how can we start communicating more effectively? How can we take steps to feel more connected and safe with one another? With Individuals, I have a passion for those struggling with Chronic Pain, Grief, Trauma and Addiction. Again, I am very much skills-based as much as I am roots-based, finding deeper understanding and learning healthy ways to cope.

I've worked with children, teens, and adults experiencing concerns such as anxiety, depression, ADHD, family of origin issues, trauma, life transitions and self doubt or lack of self-esteem.
Hello and welcome! Reaching out for support and connection while we're hurting can be so challenging, I’m glad you’re here. We all deserve a safe and affirming space to tell our story and reconnect with our authentic self. My therapeutic approach is non-pathologizing, trauma-informed, and social-justice based, and I draw from narrative, feminist, existential, and person-centered therapies. I believe therapy is collaborative and I rely on curiosity and compassion as necessary tools in the therapeutic process.

I use a variety of approaches in the counseling space, but my approach is always client-centered and trauma-informed.
To those who are looking for someone to talk to: I’m so glad you’re here. I'm glad you're taking these steps toward growth, healing, finding peace, letting go, or taking back. While counseling helps in a variety of ways, it is my belief that the therapeutic relationship is the most impactful. Therefore, my goal is to be a safe, accepting, and competent counselor for you—no matter where you've come from or where you're trying to go.

In this life, it is impossible to come out unscathed. As we journey forward we continue to accrue new scars, bruises, and scrapes. It often seems the world asks that we simply put a band-aid on our deep wounds and keep moving; when so often our injuries and brokenness need more attention and care. As a therapist I take a very relational approach to counseling. I enjoy working with motivated and insightful, teens and adults who are looking for help with trauma recovery, anxiety & depression, grief & loss, ADHD, and life transitions.

My focus is on trauma-informed care based in “what happened to you” instead of “what’s wrong with you,” healing from the past and improving the present.
My counseling focus is with teens, adults, and families. I believe everyone can benefit from counseling. I look forward to celebrating and supporting you wherever you may be on your journey. I am a client-led therapist and want you to bring your questions, concerns and fears to our sessions so that we can progress as a team. If an approach isn’t working, I want to know so we can adjust and find something that does work. I want you to feel heard, valued, comfortable and safe. I have a passion for supporting LGBTQIA children, teens, and their families.

Some of my specializations include: anxiety disorders, mood disorders, PTSD/trauma, eating disorders, self-injurious behaviors, and childhood disorders.
I believe; gaining insight and understanding, feeling more hopeful, knowing someone is there to listen, and being in a safe and non-judgmental environment, are just some of the important keys to therapy. One of the most difficult and courageous things someone can do is to walk into a clinician's office and ask for help. Sometimes people may hesitate to seek help because they feel alone in their pain or that no one will understand them. I work with clients ages two and older, from diverse cultural groups, and foster an atmosphere of understanding across these various age and cultural groups.

Drawing upon my background in forensic psychology, I incorporate knowledge of trauma, resilience, and the impact of adverse experiences into my counseling practice.
I have been passionate about psychology and helping others for as long as I can remember. One of my early passions became to destigmatize mental health care. Mental health is just as important as physical health. I work with a variety of individuals working to live happier and healthier lives by overcoming many different issues, such as anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship conflicts, and more. Through my own personal experience, I know beginning the therapy journey can feel a bit daunting, however I am here to help create a safe and collaborative space where you are comfortable.

I work with parents who are struggling with their own trauma and triggers while trying to parent their children more compassionately and consciously than they were parented. This trauma or trigger may look like high anxiety or big emotional responses to kids' behavior. I love working with parents working on building joy and connection in their families by addressing the ways they can change their patterns of responding to triggering events or big feelings. Parents who are hoping to learn skills for increased self regulation so they can pass that along to their kids and have a healthy, connected relationship with their kids forever!

Trauma and PTSD Therapists

When should I seek treatment for trauma?

Not everyone who undergoes trauma needs therapy to heal, but many do. If, after experiencing a traumatic event, you find yourself struggling with symptoms such as nightmares, dissociation, irritability, or emotional numbness—especially if these symptoms last more than a month and are severe enough to interfere with your daily functioning—you may benefit from seeking out therapy with a trauma-informed provider.

How long does trauma therapy take?

Different types of therapy for trauma unfold on different timelines. Prolonged exposure therapy and cognitive processing therapy, for example, each take about three months, while trauma-informed CBT may last anywhere from 8 to 25 sessions. Other approaches, especially those that are less structured or that incorporate elements from multiple modalities, may be more open-ended, though many patients report feeling better within the first few months of treatment.

What happens if trauma is left untreated?

Unaddressed trauma can have serious—even devastating—effects on relationships, career, and day-to-day functioning. Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD) can lead people to distrust or lash out at others, making it difficult to maintain intimate relationships; it can also trigger symptoms such as flashbacks or hyperreactivity that can interfere with a person’s ability to function effectively, personally and/or professionally. Some sufferers turn to drugs to find relief. Symptoms may lessen on their own with time, but there is no guarantee that PTSD will resolve on its own.

Can PTSD come back after treatment?

It is possible for PTSD symptoms to recur months or years after successful treatment. This is because, like most mental health disorders, it is not possible to “cure” PTSD, and stressful life events may cause symptoms to recur in even the most resilient individuals. There is no shame in re-experiencing PTSD symptoms nor in returning to therapy when such relapses occur; indeed, many forms of trauma therapy explicitly encourage periodic “maintenance sessions” to reinforce coping skills and ensure that symptoms stay manageable.
