, depression/anxiety, mood disorders, parenting, finances, and career.
I have been counseling since 2004, am a mother of five children and have worked as a financial life coach. I use talk/cognitive behavioral therapy to help clients become aware of issues or brokenness and pain that can be negatively affecting their lives. The goal is to guide my clients to a place of wholeness, where they are able to live out a peaceful and fulfilling life.

Whether your child or teen is struggling to process a scary experience,
family
challenges, peer relationships, school struggles, or more, I can help decrease power struggles and increase positive interactions.
Change can be difficult for children and adolescents. Adjusting to new circumstances, routines, and relationships can bring about intense emotions and challenging behaviors. These stressors often lead to a pattern of negative interactions and power struggles which can leave parents feeling frustrated, powerless, and even embarrassed. This is not the life that any parent envisioned for their child or teen, yet it can feel impossible to make any real change. With help, though, families can break this cycle. Parents and children can repair past rifts and develop new, positive opportunities for connection.

Whether my client(s) is/are an individual, a
family
, a couple, or a group, everyone is treated equally with respect, kindness, understanding, and support.
I believe; gaining insight and understanding, feeling more hopeful, knowing someone is there to listen, and being in a safe and non-judgmental environment, are just some of the important keys to therapy. One of the most difficult and courageous things someone can do is to walk into a clinician's office and ask for help. Sometimes people may hesitate to seek help because they feel alone in their pain or that no one will understand them. I work with clients ages two and older, from diverse cultural groups, and foster an atmosphere of understanding across these various age and cultural groups.

I know that as a parent, you want to imagine a wildly successful and happy future for your child. Watching them struggle with
family
and friends, act out in school, and/or participate in risky behaviors like substance use or self harm can turn that hope into devastating worry as you see them in pain and feel helpless to heal it. It may feel impossible to support them alone- and you don't have to. With research backed strategies and years of experience, I can help teens work through their struggles and towards a brighter future.

I love working with children, teenagers, and adults struggling with behavioral concerns and mental health related issues. I find this work incredibly rewarding, to identify needs behind behaviors, feelings, and thoughts, and creating empathy and compassion beyond power struggles or difficult dynamics in order to improve
family
health and individual functioning. I believe firmly that trauma occurs in relationships and is healed through relationships. I greatly value the impact of healthy and safe relationships in therapy and beyond to create meaningful connections with others and to improve one's overall mental health and wellbeing

Family Therapy
What do family therapists do?
A family therapist facilitates the process of understanding and improving how a family functions. The therapist will help family members develop empathy for one another. They’ll seek to understand existing patterns, misunderstandings, and conflicts that arise, in order to help the family arrive at a realistic, unified understanding and develop the coping skills they need to build stronger relationships.
How long does therapy for families take to work?
Therapy manifests differently in every family; a common time frame is 12 weekly sessions, but some families may see improvement after just a few weeks. Families should discuss their goals with the therapist at the beginning of the process and periodically revisit those goals to assess their progress together.
How can you encourage a family member to attend family therapy?
You can encourage family members to attend therapy by expressing with both love and concern the challenges you see and explaining how a therapist could help the family navigate those challenges together. An outside perspective can help everyone feel heard, get on the same page, and develop new skills. If family members are still hesitant, it may be helpful to emphasize that family therapy is short-term—it won’t last forever.
Is therapy for families effective?
Family therapy can significantly improve family dynamics and relationships. Research suggests that family therapy can help individuals understand their role in the family, communicate and solve problems together, reduce conflict and draw boundaries when necessary, and develop coping skills for stressors, major life changes, and mental or physical illnesses within the family.
