I have 10 years of experience helping individuals who struggle with PTSD,
anger
, depression and anxiety.
Does talking about your feelings sounds as fun as having a root canal? Have you been told by someone you need to get help but fear opening Pandora’s box because you aren’t sure what will spill out? Why would you want to talk about your feelings if it is going to suck right? Those are all good questions and ones I have asked myself. Over the years I have realized through dealing with challenges in my own life that learning to Embrace the Suck in life is important. Change is not unicorns and rainbows; it can be ugly and dirty. That's where I come in.

I work with individuals who are struggling with emotions (low self-esteem, anxiety, depression,
anger
, lack of fulfillment, and fear). Individuals may need guidance to heal effects of trauma, or may struggle with a life transition such as divorce, loss or feeling stuck. Through deep exploration, individuals gain insight into their internal world, learn to accept and love all of themselves and create a sense of balance and peace. I work with individuals to heal their deepest wounds and feel encouraged, clear, and empowered. My goal is to help each individual bring our work from session into their life.

Psychotherapy is a confidential and creative relationship where you may find the power to heal, grow, explore, deepen, and transform. I believe in treatment that is engaging, dynamic, inspiring, and integrated where the provider is supportive, humble, inquiring, inquisitive, challenging, and honest. You may be experiencing life at the harshest, most cruel moment or suffering where no one seems to understand. Emotional distress from depression, anxiety,
anger
, grief, loss, and trauma often feels much worse than any physical pain. Perhaps you want to make a change, expand your relationships and find meaning in your world.

Understanding that trauma and grief are a major source of suffering, I focus on the origin of the problem and not the coping mechanisms which can include isolation,
anger
issues and drug & alcohol use disorders.
My role and purpose is to help people find their freedom in order to find deep meaning in life and to love freely. The people I see often feel diminished and beaten down by many things including substance use disorders, shame put upon them by others, early childhood trauma and the grief associated with living. In my practice I help people learn skills and ways to cope with their individual issues so that they are able to live with the pain and not in it. I work with many modalities of treatment including Rapid Resolution Therapy used to treat trauma. I provide Acudetox to all my clients at every session for no additional fee.

Rediscover laughter and joy! Through my own journey of overcoming anxiety I have learned that avoiding negative emotions is impossible. In fact when we try to avoid them they become worse! They often turn into
anger
or anxiety. This causes personal stress and conflict in relationships. We are so afraid to feel pain that we numb out, lash out or become overwhelmed. My passion is to provide support and guidance for you to learn how to safely experience emotions, and learn coping skills. My collaborative, non judgmental approach to counseling enables you to feel empowered, gain clarity, and heal relationships.

Anger Management Therapists
How long does therapy take for anger management?
Treatment duration depends on the person’s specific challenges and circumstances. There are treatments for anger problems that are shorter and more goal-oriented, like cognitive behavior therapy (CBT), which can last weeks to months. Others, like dialectical behavior therapy (DBT) may last between six months and a year, while a more intensive treatment, like psychodynamic therapy, is open-ended, and clients may see their therapist for a year or longer.
How do you know if you need therapy for anger management?
Everyone gets mad from time to time. But when angry outbursts become frequent and cause damage to relationships, whether at home or in the office, it may be a good time to look into therapy. A therapist can assess where a client’s anger may be coming from, suggest strategies for averting angry outbursts, and help a client create a plan to become a calmer version of themselves.
Is there medication for anger management?
Medications do exist that help people mitigate the feeling of anger, but these are reserved for people with anger-related psychiatric disorders, such as intermittent explosive disorder, oppositional defiant disorder, or in some cases borderline personality disorder. In these cases, antidepressant medications may be prescribed to help with the client’s symptoms. In most cases of anger management, however, talk therapy is the recommended treatment, along with lifestyle changes where relevant.
What’s the best way to encourage someone to seek help for anger issues?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love for the person while framing therapy as a tool for improving their life. Offering specific examples of how an individual’s behavior affected either themselves or others should be done with compassion and with empathy. It may be useful to devise a game plan—breaking the process down into parts, such as finding a therapist, making appointments, and looking into insurance coverage.
