If you or your child are facing difficulty socially, emotionally or academically, getting professional help can provide you with the support that you need. I have been a therapist for 18 years, working with adults and children who want to make their lives better. Therapy allows us to process our thoughts and feelings so they don't lead to problem behaviors or symptoms that negatively impact you and your relationships. I am here to help you or your child by providing a safe environment to talk about the problems you are facing and to help you find the answers you are seeking.

Through Psychological testing and evaluation, I evaluate Learning Disabilities (Dyslexia, Dysgraphia, Dyscalculia),
ADHD
, OCD, anxiety, and all Autism Spectrum Disorders. I am a Certified Autism Specialist. Having been a Child Psychologist for 25 years, and College Professor, I look at the whole child/person, including their diet, sleep, personality, and parenting. We direct the school's support of the child by creating an IEP or 504 plan. Public, private schools plus colleges accept our recommendations for accommodations such as additional classroom supports and extended testing time. Adults are seen on a case by case basis.

In this life, it is impossible to come out unscathed. As we journey forward we continue to accrue new scars, bruises, and scrapes. It often seems the world asks that we simply put a band-aid on our deep wounds and keep moving; when so often our injuries and brokenness need more attention and care. As a therapist I take a very relational approach to counseling. I enjoy working with motivated and insightful, teens and adults who are looking for help with trauma recovery, anxiety & depression, grief & loss,
ADHD
, and life transitions.

Are you neurodivergent? Let me guess, you've seen a therapist, if not several, and its been... just ok. They listened, maybe they made some suggestions, but they didn't really get you. I've heard this story dozens of times from neurodiverse clients who are autistic, have
ADHD
or don't really fit in any specific box. You want to meet with someone who understands how your neurotype changes the way you experience and interact with the world. You need someone who can help differentiate what is part of who you are, and what is something you have been forced to use to cope with a world that wants you to be "normal".

You may be experiencing depression, anxiety, trauma, or
ADHD
, and are feeling like you just can’t catch a break. You’re overwhelmed, constantly on edge, and making it through each day is like running a marathon that you were unable to train for. Dealing with all of this inside of you makes you feel so alone, believing that no one understands how you’re feeling. I work best with those of you who are experiencing work-related stress and relationship issues, as a result of feeling down, swamped, stressed out, or too scattered. What you want to get from therapy is understanding and solid solutions for getting back to your "normal" self.

Have you been struggling with
ADHD
symptoms and can't seem to find a therapist who "gets it"? I am a psychologist who specializes in working with teens and adults with
ADHD
. I understand the ways that being neurodivergent can impact more than just schooling or work performance. I often say that my work is "about
ADHD
, and it's not about
ADHD
," as, oftentimes, adults with this invisible difference experience challenges that go beyond brain-based symptoms and impact self-concept, mood, and relationships. I take an active, strengths-forward approach,
ADHD
-informed approach to help clients live well with
ADHD
- and without shame!

Hello! I am a clinical neuropsychology resident at Horizon Neuropsychological Services (HNS). This means that I am re-specializing and furthering my education/training in neuropsychological evaluations. Horizon Neuropsychological Services provides evaluations for children, teens, and adults via interactive tests that reveal an individual’s brain-behavior relationship. HNS embraces a strengths-based model, acknowledging areas of growth but focusing on helping individuals build upon their strengths. My focus this year is supporting individuals ranging from 3-21.

When should I seek treatment for ADHD?
You should seek treatment for ADHD if you consistently have difficulty with attention, hyperactivity, or impulsivity that interferes with your daily life. Symptoms of ADHD include the inability to sustain attention during tasks, difficulty organizing tasks and activities, being easily distracted, frequent fidgeting or squirming, and talking or interrupting excessively. If these symptoms interfere with your career, academics, or relationships—for example, consistently failing to complete professional projects on time—you should seek an evaluation for ADHD.
How does treatment for ADHD work?
Effective treatment for ADHD often consists of medication, behavioral therapy, and lifestyle changes. Stimulant medications such as Adderall and Ritalin work by altering levels of neurotransmitters in the brain; higher levels of dopamine and norepinephrine are known to improve attention and focus. Therapy works by helping people with ADHD understand the condition, discuss their areas of difficulty, and develop behavioral strategies to manage their symptoms. In some cases, modifying one’s diet and exercise can also help improve symptoms.
Are there specific medications for ADHD?
Medications to treat ADHD are generally stimulants, the most common are Adderall and Ritalin. There are two categories of stimulants: Amphetamines include Adderall, Dyanavel, Vyvanse, and Dexedrine, and methylphenidates include Ritalin, Concerta, Daytrana, Focalin, Quillichew, Quillivant, and Metadate. Non-stimulants and antidepressants may be used as an alternative if stimulants aren’t effective or viable for a particular patient.
How long does treatment for ADHD take?
It’s tough to give an exact time frame because everyone varies. In terms of medications, stimulants begin to work very soon after you take them, generally within the hour. It may take time to identify the right medication and dosage, but the medication itself is fast-acting. In terms of therapy, it takes time to develop skills and put them into practice, but you will likely see improvements within a few weeks or months.
