I strive to provide a supportive, empowering environment to walk with clients through issues related to self-esteem, shame, grief, depression, anxiety, infidelity , anger, chronic illness, relational and community issues, and family conflict.

Choosing a therapist can often be difficult and overwhelming. By now you probably viewed at least five different therapists- give or take. So stop strolling and know that I am the right therapist for you. Wanna make sure? I would too. Most potential clients want to know how much experience I have providing therapy. Currently, I have over 15 years of experience and have worked in various clinical settings. Next, I provide individual, family, and couple's therapy. I do not work with children under 10 years of age, but I do work with parents. I am also a published author. Website is listed in my profile.

I've been in the addictions / mental health (dual diagnosis) field for over 20 years in Colorado, and have been ‘clean’ 27 years (as of 9/1/93). I sincerely believe in clients' ability to make enduring change, after they have learned to identify and accept what's not working in their lives. I'm a very accessible and active therapist, and I offer specialized groups to meet clients' needs. Groups occur Monday through Saturday, depending on group assignment. Individual sessions are often a part of effective treatment planning, in addition to, or instead of, group format. Reasonable pricing.

For the past 26 years I have created a safe space for clients to work on a number of personal and relational issues. This safety is created and sustained by respectful care and radical acceptance of a person no matter where they find themselves on the journey. Clients who see me are often struggling with primary relationship issues, identity issues brought about by transitions or grief and loss, anxiety or depression- which begins to rob one's joy, present or past trauma, present or past loss of attachments, or feelings of dissatisfaction with their present life that requires a change.

A therapeutic relationship is truly one of a kind. I strive to create a collaborative environment where my clients can explore their internal world with grace. I am not the expert on the lives of my clients nor do I expect them to have all the answers regarding why they do the things they do, what function certain behaviors serve, or identify what an emotional consequence resulted from any number of situations. I strive to promote self-care, self-compassion, and a sense of curiosity. I am a trauma therapist and have adopted a rather broad definition of trauma.

After I was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer, I encountered the challenge of finding a therapist who understood my mental health and how my physical health was impacted by and influenced my perception of self. In addition to seeking self-care, I became aware that my health experiences deeply affected my family. While doing my academic work at Regis University and St. Louis University School of Family and Community Medicine, I have been able to develop a whole-person approach to counseling care. If you or your family are seeking help that emphasizes communication training and person-affirmative care, let me know.

*ACCEPTING NEW CLIENTS* - "Will I ever be able to change and get back my life?" This question haunts many of us as life has a way of bringing difficulties that leave us wounded and disconnected. As our pain deepens, we develop coping strategies to numb and protect ourselves. These painful experiences and defense patterns can have long-lasting detrimental effects that deprive us of joy and meaning. However, although painful, these places of darkness can be catalysts to rewrite our story and move us towards healing. Your story can be one of restoration, resiliency, and joy.

Infidelity Therapists

How does therapy for infidelity work?

A skilled infidelity therapist will provide a safe space for clients to communicate their feelings and concerns. The goal is to be completely honest about what led to the cheating and how it has affected the entire family to prevent it from recurring in the future. The therapist will help the clients work on rebuilding mutual trust and respect and developing better communication and conflict-resolution skills. If the goal is to remain a couple, clients will learn the “danger signs” for their specific relationship, and they will make a renewed commitment to be faithful.

How long does therapy for infidelity take?

Recovery from infidelity can take time, and it can vary from person to person. Generally, a therapist will want to see the clients at least once a week for around six months. Then the sessions can be arranged as needed, depending on the clients’ individual needs. While therapy may end or shift to an as-needed basis, it can take up to two years or more for some clients to fully recover from infidelity.

How does therapy help the partner who was cheated on?

When a client discovers their partner’s infidelity, their trust in the relationship and in the life they had together may be shattered. They often experience mental health symptoms, such as anxiety, depression, grief, and post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD). They don’t always want to stay in the relationship; they may feel ambivalent or may even want to leave. Therapy gives these clients a safe and healthy way to communicate all of their complicated emotions and concerns.

How does therapy help the partner who committed infidelity?

Infidelity often occurs when one or both partners’ emotional needs are not being met in the relationship. Therapy can help this client understand why they cheated and figure out how to address those unmet needs without resorting to infidelity in the future. This can lessen (but not entirely eliminate) the risk of repeated infidelity. Clients who cheat may also feel intense guilt about deceiving their partners, a sentiment that they can work through in therapy.
