My role and purpose is to help people find their freedom in order to find deep meaning in life and to love freely. The people I see often feel diminished and beaten down by many things including substance use disorders, shame put upon them by others, early childhood trauma and the grief associated with living. In my practice I help people learn skills and ways to cope with their individual issues so that they are able to live with the pain and not in it. I work with many modalities of treatment including Rapid Resolution Therapy used to treat trauma. I provide Acudetox to all my clients at every session for no additional fee.

Change is hard for most of us, especially when dealing with transitions (think birth, death , relationships, jobs, moving, illness, coming out, etc). Few humans navigate these with ease. Many people benefit from help at these times. I act as a guide on your journey to help make the changes more manageable. My goal is to help you through challenges and set you free. I do not believe most people need to be in therapy long term. I look forward to meeting you. I have been in therapy off and on throughout my life so realize it can be hard to ask for help. I'm glad you are here. Please reach out, you have nothing to lose.

We can through slow subtle changes or overwhelming loss and sudden changes find ourselves in places we hadn't planned on or expected.
"Vulnerability sounds like truth and feels like courage. Truth and courage aren't always comfortable, but they're never weakness." Brene Brown. I'm a licensed professional counselor passionate about seeing people not just having a deeper understanding of what they've experienced or are experiencing but moving towards healing, change and wholeness. I've been treating individuals, families and couples for over 17 years. I can truly say I continue to find great joy, and meaning in this work to enter into the stories of others and to provide space for healing, truth, compassion, reconciliation and hope.

I do virtual therapy with clients here in Colorado. Most of my clients are seeking assistance in mitigating the stressors in their lives. Family relationships; grief / loss ; difficulties with parenting or accepting parenting; substance use; crises of faith...all these issues are present in my practice. Most are looking for direction; someone to help sort through the problem and achieve resolution. They are distressed that they are at odds with family; concerned over the loss of control with substances; and some are wondering about their purpose in the world. These are the people with whom I enjoy working.

I enjoy working with people dealing with grief , depression, life transitions, and challenges with relationships.
I am passionate in my work as a counselor because I believe redemption is possible, hope can be renewed, and beauty can emerge from the messiness of life. If you are here because you want to discover (or rediscover) the joy and fulfillment that have been missing in your life, I would love to talk with you! In my spare time I am a potter. I find my work with clay provides a meaningful metaphor for the counseling process as it involves patience, gentleness, messiness, and the potential for growth, beauty, and purpose.

Adults I work with often find they are an expert in taking care of everyone around them but feel uncertain how to take care of themselves. They may be "people pleasers" and know in great detail what others may need and how to fix things, but struggle to know what they need, how they feel or how to address their own problems. This often leads to feelings of anger, resentment, exhaustion, self-harming thoughts and neglect of their own needs, with an increase in anxiety, depression, or grief . They may also have experienced trauma and can benefit from the healing process of EMDR.

Like you just can't take another minute of it. If either of these is true, you are our specialty. We thrive working with families (and anyone else) suffering with self-destructive behaviors, anxiety, addictions, trauma, grief or loss . My area of emphasis is grief and loss - although I work with all populations to include: parenting, childhood and adolescent issues, school performance, couples and family issues, as well as, life coaching.
What do you want your life to stand for? What holds you back? What thoughts, memories or experiences are gripping you like a weight and pulling you down or keeping you from doing the things that matter most in this life? Whether you are a child or an adult, each of these questions has meaning. As living, breathing and feeling human beings we go through this "Life" journey encountering and experiencing many glimpses of happiness, as well as, tastes of struggle. These experiences in our "Life" journey are shared from childhood to old age.

com resonate with you? I specialize in 1) trauma, 2) grief , 3) anxiety and depression, 4) women’s transitions marriage, pregnancy, adoption, divorce, menopause, retirement, etc, 5) identity exploration, and 6) spiritual and existential wayfinding.
You are NOT crazy! The part of your brain concerned with survival is likely feeling frantic, causing your logical self to go offline and your emotional self to be dysregulated. Are your old triggers and dysfunctional coping responses intensifying? Trauma, loss , change, conflict, and oppression can make you feel hopeless, lonely, anxious, depressed, and distrusting of you. You don't have to be defined by your past; you can transform your life by overcoming obstacles that keep you stuck and in pain. “Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it.” Rumi

Grief Therapists

How long does therapy take for grief?

There is no exact timeline for grief counseling. Some people may start to feel better after just a few sessions, while others may take months or longer to feel relief. Some specific approaches, including some types of CBT, may involve a set number of sessions, or therapy may be open-ended until the patient determines they are ready to wrap up. Just as there is no right or wrong way to grieve, there is no right or wrong way to seek therapy for grief.

When should you seek therapy for grief?

Many people mistakenly believe that their grief needs to be debilitating or all-encompassing to warrant therapy. This is not the case. While people who experience severe, prolonged grief—particularly those who are considering self-harm or engaging in unhealthy substance use—are especially likely to benefit from therapy, so too are people whose grief is less intense but still interfering with well-being or daily functioning. In practice, almost anyone struggling to process a loss could benefit from grief counseling.

Can grief be managed without therapy?

Oftentimes, yes. Grief is a near-universal part of being human, and many find that their grief, while profound, does not stop them from participating in day-to-day life and steadily eases over time without outside help. For others, however, the harsh pain of early grief persists for months or years or leaves them unable to function. This group is especially likely to benefit from seeing a therapist, who can guide them through their grief and help them reconnect with the world.

What happens if grief is left untreated?

Because grief does not in itself necessitate therapy, untreated grief will often resolve on its own. However, for some people—particularly those who would qualify for a diagnosis of prolonged grief disorder—untreated grief can be a source of seemingly endless pain or lead them to withdraw from the world. In such cases, treatment can be indispensable, as it can help an individual adapt to the loss and start living again.
