I love working with individuals, couples, and especially young adults using sound Biblical principles, advanced Brainspotting, CBT,
EFT
, and Narrative Therapy. I want to help couples build a strong foundation through premarital counseling and help existing couples struggling in their marriages. I want to walk along side people in the struggles they face or the traumas they need to overcome. To me it is a privilege to journey with people as they face the various challenges of life.

I am an
EFT
-trained therapist who is passionate about helping young adults navigate the unfamiliar roads of life transitions.
You moved to Colorado for a fresh start, but you're still looking for happiness, purpose, and connection. Past disappointments make you question if you're even capable of making a right choice for your life. Maybe you're too burnt out to take another step. I know what it’s like to navigate major, sudden, or unforeseen life transitions—to start over in an unfamiliar place, to cope with the loss of “what could have been,” or to question your belief system, your choices, or your very self. It can feel overwhelming, daunting, and lonely, leaving you unsure or unable to move forward.

I practice from a client-centered,
emotionally focused
lens and bring warmth, genuineness, and humor into my sessions.
Are you feeling shrouded in shame and confusion about your sexual desires or identity? Do activities that once brought feelings of closeness and pleasure now bring up loneliness and uncertainty? Sexual issues are completely normal, and you nor your partner are broken. My goal is to help you move towards feeling self-empowered and comfortable in your own skin. Sex and sexual identity are very personal topics that can feel embarrassing or isolating to speak to someone about - everyone is deserving of happiness and inner peace, and I am committed to helping you find your voice so you can advocate for your needs and desires.

This strange time in our world has highlighted the importance of healthy relationships for our overall happiness and health. What it’s also highlighted is that most of us don’t have the relationships we desire—the depth and authenticity, the playfulness and sense of connection are lacking for so many. Let me support you in developing your most important internal resources & using this time to not only protect but strengthen the relationships that are most dear to you. Learn to use the heightened stress of what is NOT working to train your nervous system and strengthen your hearts capacity for greater resiliency and rewarding love

I take a strengths-based, anti-racist and anti-oppression approach, and utilize mindfulness, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy,
Emotionally Focused
Therapy, Internal Family Systems, and more in my work with clients.
Do you find yourself thinking, “Everyone around me seems happier and more at ease than me, and I just wish I could feel that way too,” or “I get angry really quickly and wish I had tools to help me not say things I later regret,” or “I don’t feel like the gender people think I am”? I believe you know yourself best and together we can get to know your strengths and develop some tools you can use to get through the hard things life throws your way. You don’t have to figure it out alone! I'm a queer-identified trans man, and I love working with adults and teens of all identities.

In order to assist / educate individuals in how to live more effectively without active addiction, I teach clients yoga, meditation, visualization, mindfulness,
EFT
(needle-free acupuncture), nutrition, supplementation, etc.
I've been in the addictions / mental health (dual diagnosis) field for over 20 years in Colorado, and have been ‘clean’ 27 years (as of 9/1/93). I sincerely believe in clients' ability to make enduring change, after they have learned to identify and accept what's not working in their lives. I'm a very accessible and active therapist, and I offer specialized groups to meet clients' needs. Groups occur Monday through Saturday, depending on group assignment. Individual sessions are often a part of effective treatment planning, in addition to, or instead of, group format. Reasonable pricing.

I am trained in
emotionally focused
therapy and see relationship dilemmas through the lens of attachment theory.
My ideal clients are those who are facing relationship and/or sexual and sexuality dilemmas. Often, they struggle to find access to a service provider that can empathize with their lived experiences and who they can trust. I'm able to support LGBTQ people, women, disabled folks, and people of color, among other marginalized communities by providing a culturally affirming and empathetic space. Individuals I work with are looking to achieve healthy intimacy through compassion and self-acceptance.

I am passionate about supporting families, couples, and individuals through the highs and lows of life. I believe that therapy can be used to discuss some of our deepest hurts and challenges, and be a place to celebrate when things go right. The majority of my work in the mental health field has been providing support to those seeking recovery from addiction, as well as their loved ones. I strive to provide a supportive, empowering environment to walk with clients through issues related to self-esteem, shame, grief, depression, anxiety, infidelity, anger, chronic illness, relational and community issues, and family conflict.

I am passionate in my work as a counselor because I believe redemption is possible, hope can be renewed, and beauty can emerge from the messiness of life. If you are here because you want to discover (or rediscover) the joy and fulfillment that have been missing in your life, I would love to talk with you! In my spare time I am a potter. I find my work with clay provides a meaningful metaphor for the counseling process as it involves patience, gentleness, messiness, and the potential for growth, beauty, and purpose.

NOW accepting! As a queer BIPOC individual, my passion is working with other individuals, relationships, and family systems of the queer and or BIPOC community. If you grew up in a culture that viewed mental health as taboo, you may be feeling alone and hopeless. Know that you are not alone in your journey. I believe that people and relationships can thrive if given the proper support, nourishment, and environment. We are all given the same tools, but how helpful can it be if we were never taught how to use them? With some direction, non-judgement, and unconditional positive regard I believe people are capable of incredible things.

In my talk therapy practice, I employ a Relational,
Emotionally Focused
and Acceptance based approach in order to help you heal your relationship with yourself.
I believe who you are is not something in need of fixing. When we feel stuck or disconnected, life feels profoundly more stressful. I work with individuals who are finally ready to take that first step on their path towards self discovery or have already begun the process on their own. During our work together, my goal is to establish a meaningful relationship with a shared sense of ownership for your treatment. The greatest predictor of treatment success is the therapeutic alliance between the therapist and client. I connect with my clients through empathy, compassion humor and metaphor.

Emotionally Focused Therapists
Who is emotionally focused therapy for?
Emotionally focused therapy (EFT) is for couples who are emotionally distressed, stuck in an unsatisfying relationship pattern or feeling deeply alienated. They may even believe the relationship is beyond repair. Very often, the partners display intense anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal in the relationship. In addition, EFT is helpful to couples and individuals who have difficulty expressing emotions and those who have trouble regulating emotions.
Why do people need emotionally focused therapy?
People need emotionally focused therapy because the need for others is built into the brain, but the pressures of daily life can erode feelings of love, and couples often do not have the skills to find their way back to the comfort of each other. Instead, they may be stuck in repetitive patterns of anger, fear, grief, loss of trust, or a sense of betrayal. Emotionally focused therapy regards such strong negative feelings as expressions of protest over the loss of connection and turns them into pathways of reconnection.
What happens in emotionally focused therapy?
Over the course of eight to 20 weekly sessions, couples de-escalate their negative emotional reactivity to one another so that they can listen to each other and be responsive to each other’s needs. Then the deep emotional and physical bond is restored, giving partners a sense of comfort and security, which they can use to solve whatever problems come their way. The therapist plays an active role, helping partners understand how anger and withdrawal are actually misguided cries for connection.
What problems does emotionally focused therapy treat?
EFT is designed to help couples stuck in dysfunctional relationship patterns regain closeness and rebuild their relationship. Typically, such couples experience considerable distress, with partners feeling alienated and distrustful of one another, not certain their relationship can survive. EFT is also helpful to individuals experiencing attachment-related fears of loss; it helps them learn to use their fears as a way of eliciting the closeness they desire.
