Healing comes through
relationship
.
Being a child in today's world can be terrifying. Frightened and anxious children exhibit many symptoms that can make life difficult for them and their loved ones. In much the same way, parenting can be terrifying and confusing. With 20 years experience, I come alongside children, parents, and adults and help them to love themselves, and heal the wounds that lead to this paralyzing fear. I will help you to regulate difficult emotions so that you can be present with each other. You will leave our time with tools to help you reconnect when things get tough.

Are you struggling with feeling worthy? Does it feel like if you could just find the right self help book or self care tool, you’d also find a full connected meaningful life? Perhaps it's a traumatic experience, unhelpful patterns in your relationships, or undiagnosed ADHD keeping you stuck. As an experienced clinician I am convinced that we are all worthy, and it is only through developing that loving
relationship
with ourselves that we can feel worthy. When we learn how to like ourselves, how to LOVE ourselves, our relationships deepen, our sleep improves, and we are more able to take those essential steps to live our best life.

In my time as a therapist, I have worked with individuals,
couples
and families in times of need.
Let me pour you a cup of tea, and let's talk. I believe that there are not enough places in the world where a person is free to be their truly authentic self without fear of judgement. In practice, I create a safe space for my clients to access and unravel stories ingrained in the psyche. Life is too short to be held back by bad relationships, to let trauma control us or to be anxious/ angry all the time. I'm excited to get to know the real you and to help you achieve whatever solutions and life changes you're looking for, all while enjoying the process.

I focus on developing a close
relationship
with you that can carry direct communication.
You feel alone, confused, and overwhelmed. You have been through a major life shift and don't know which way is up. You need someone who gets it. I am here, not with an easy fix, but with a listening ear and a kind heart. The issues you are facing are complex, and the pain is real. I am not interested in telling you what to do, but rather in empowering you to learn to hear your inner voice. It may be hard to believe, but you already know the answers! My role is to listen, support, and offer ideas.

I believe that trust and collaboration in the therapeutic
relationship
are most important.
There are many reasons people seek out therapy. Often life can seem out of control, chaotic, and impossible to navigate. Other times people may feel stuck, lost, or overwhelmed with the turns life has taken. Life struggles are inevitable and sometimes people need additional support. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, who has worked with diverse populations ranging from children, adolescents to adults and families within settings such as outpatient facilities and clinics, non-profit organizations, and federally funded programs. I utilize a client centered, strengths-based approach.

relationship
itself.

Couples Counseling Therapists
Does couples counseling work?
Research shows that couples counseling is effective; it can reduce relationship distress and improve emotional awareness, communication, empathy, intimacy, and overall relationship satisfaction. For example, emotionally focused therapy was found to be effective for about 75 percent of couples, and those benefits lasted at least two years.
When should a couple seek counseling?
Couples can benefit from counseling if they consistently struggle in their relationship. They may have lost the ability to communicate effectively, become entrenched in harmful patterns, begun to fight more than usual, broken the other’s trust, suffered from a mental or physical illness, or faced any number of other challenges. Many therapists offer free consultations, so if a couple isn’t sure whether therapy is necessary, asking directly can provide clarity.
How can I get my partner to go to couples therapy?
The decision to seek couples therapy is often driven by one partner, who then convinces the other to participate. When discussing the idea, the initiator should be direct and assertive. They can state the problems they see and explain how the relationship would benefit from therapy. In more serious cases, they can also explain how their relationship may suffer without making any changes or seeking professional help.
How does a couple prepare for couples counseling?
The anticipation of beginning couples counseling can be difficult—sometimes more difficult than the first session itself. Taking a few moments to reflect can allay those concerns: What are the current challenges? When and how did they begin? What do they want the relationship to look like in the future? Reflecting on these questions can help individuals or couples articulate their goals. Of course, the therapist will also ask questions and guide couples through the process.
