Hi there! Congratulations on taking the first step in finding a therapist. Therapy can be difficult, but finding someone you trust and connect with can make all the difference. I strive to create a warm, inviting environment in which all of my clients feel welcome and safe to express their true selves. I believe that lasting change occurs when we are empowered to live authentically, set boundaries, and advocate for ourselves. Whether you're dealing with depression, anxiety, trauma, relationship/work stressors, etc., we will work collaboratively to establish treatment goals and process past experiences and current stressors.

Hello, I'm Autumn. Pronouns: She, Her, Hers. I am a Master's level therapist. I believe that life is about finding beauty in all places. When we are presented with change, we have presented with the opportunity to grow. You are the eye that has the power to create perspective and provide meaning through life's detours. We are often are taught that experiencing a change in life alone is a superpower. While this is possible, my philosophy is that we do our best when we are supported. I hope that you give me the opportunity to witness your path to growth and healing. Please note that I am seeing clients via telehealth on Mondays only.

Are you feeling shrouded in shame and confusion about your sexual desires or identity? Do activities that once brought feelings of closeness and pleasure now bring up loneliness and uncertainty? Sexual issues are completely normal, and you nor your partner are broken. My goal is to help you move towards feeling self-empowered and comfortable in your own skin. Sex and sexual identity are very personal topics that can feel embarrassing or isolating to speak to someone about - everyone is deserving of happiness and inner peace, and I am committed to helping you find your voice so you can advocate for your needs and desires.

My clients are looking for connection to themselves and others. Their current strategies to get what they want just do not seem to be getting the desired results. Ego death is the paradoxical intervention I teach my clients. When the ego dies, the true Self can finally be free from internal pressures to "try harder & to be better." You are already perfect the way you are, but perhaps you are having difficulty seeing it in yourself. Marijuana and psychedelic assisted therapy has proven to be helpful for many of my clients. I do not provide any entheogenic substances. Clients work at their level of comfort in accordance with all laws.

Do you find yourself thinking, “Everyone around me seems happier and more at ease than me, and I just wish I could feel that way too,” or “I get angry really quickly and wish I had tools to help me not say things I later regret,” or “I don’t feel like the gender people think I am”? I believe you know yourself best and together we can get to know your strengths and develop some tools you can use to get through the hard things life throws your way. You don’t have to figure it out alone! I'm a queer-identified trans man, and I love working with adults and teens of all identities.

Do you ever feel like you can't seem to find your happy place in life? Like everything you're doing isn't working and you're stuck in a cycle that doesn't work for you? Most of the individuals I work with have struggled in these cycles for some time and are wanting to find a way to build a life they want to live. As a therapist, I help people identify what goals they want to achieve and create a plan to get there.

I enjoy working with motivated women to increase awareness into the root cause of unhelpful/unhealthy patterns in their lives. I believe that all individuals hold the knowledge of what is best for their own life but sometimes need a gentle guide to help find their path. I strive to create a safe, nonjudgmental therapeutic space where you will feel comfortable expressing difficult thoughts, feelings, and experiences.

After I was diagnosed with a rare form of cancer, I encountered the challenge of finding a therapist who understood my mental health and how my physical health was impacted by and influenced my perception of self. In addition to seeking self-care, I became aware that my health experiences deeply affected my family. While doing my academic work at Regis University and St. Louis University School of Family and Community Medicine, I have been able to develop a whole-person approach to counseling care. If you or your family are seeking help that emphasizes communication training and person-affirmative care, let me know.

Maybe this is your first time in therapy, and you don't know what to expect. Or maybe you've tried many times, but it feels like nothing has worked. Either way, I think I have something unique to offer you. I use both nature and technology to enhance the effectiveness of therapy. This combination yields positive results in many different areas including ADHD, PTSD, depression, anxiety, dissociation, anger management, self-esteem, and more.

We often spend time trying to control life's problems through food, perfectionism, rigid boundaries, or people pleasing, but these efforts then cause even more pain and disappointment. I will be honest- healing is not a comfortable process, because it pushes us to be vulnerable, authentic, and curious about our habits and motives. Once you embrace the process, though, there is a joyous experience in self-liberation! Whether through eating disorder recovery, trauma processing, or exploring your identity, I would be honored to be a guide and support in your healing process.

The work I do with clients is rooted in the belief that connecting with all of the parts that make us who we are and forming meaningful relationships with our surrounding community (both human and non-human) can help us find solid ground in times of stress, trauma, and challenging life transitions. I specialize in helping children, teens and young adults develop the skills to find nervous system regulation, form healthy attachments, and build skills to manage anxiety and depression. I predominantly (and not exclusively) work with folks in the LGBTQIA2S+ community, believing that every body deserves a caring space to heal and restore

I believe one of the bravest things we can do is begin to understand our own story. Vulnerability can be one of the scariest, most liberating, and empowering acts, and undoubtedly takes courage - so I commend you for being here, wherever you are in your process.

I practice person-centered therapy, which means that I aim to create a therapeutic environment of empathy, acceptance, and authenticity. During sessions, I give suggestions about techniques to try and skills to practice, but I believe my clients are the experts on their lives and what works best for them. My goal is to empower my clients to determine how they want to move forward rather than telling them what to do. I strive not to judge my clients for their actions; instead, I help them uncover the underlying thoughts and motivations behind their behaviors.

If you aren’t living the life of your dreams and find yourself in repeating patterns of thoughts, behaviors, and relationships, know that there is a way through to a better life. How can I find a therapist in Lakewood?

Search for nearby therapists or counselors by inputting your city, town, or suburb; or zip code; or a provider’s name into the search bar. From there, you can filter providers by the issues they treat, cost, insurance, gender, and other factors to find providers who are well-suited to your needs. To navigate between locations within the same country, enter a new city or zip code into the search bar.

Learn more about how to find a therapist.

Is online therapy a good option?

Therapy conducted online or over the phone can be just as effective as in-person therapy, as long as there is a strong alliance between the client and the therapist. To find a therapist who provides telehealth services to clients in your area, click “Online Therapy” on the directory homepage and search by your city or town or your zip code.

What’s the difference between a psychologist, a therapist, and a counselor?

Therapists, psychologists, and counselors are all licensed mental health professionals. In the United States, psychologists have earned a doctoral degree. The terms “therapist” and “counselor” are used somewhat interchangeably, but generally therapists offer longer-term, mental health care, while counselors offer shorter-term care that may focus on one domain, such as marriage, career, or academic challenges.

What type of therapist is right for me?

Clients should consider factors such as insurance coverage and their primary reason(s) for seeking therapy to determine the type of professional best suited to their needs. Someone struggling with mental health challenges such as depression or anxiety, for example, may wish to seek out a clinical psychologist, psychologist or therapist, while someone navigating career obstacles or marital upheaval may benefit from seeing a counselor who can offer short-term, targeted support.

Is everyone in the Psychology Today Therapy Directory a licensed therapist?

The Psychology Today directory lists providers who offer legitimate mental health services to the public, including psychologists, psychiatrists, social workers, and counselors. Many have been licensed by the country or state where they practice; providers whose license or primary credential has been verified by Psychology Today are signified by a “Verified” symbol. Some clinicians or organizations provide services for which their state or country does not offer licenses, such as pastoral counseling. They may be selectively included without the “Verified” seal.

What type of therapy is right for me?

The type of therapy best suited to a particular individual depends on several factors, including their primary reason for seeking therapy, their preferred timeline (some therapy types last for a set number of sessions, while others are open-ended), and their personality and preferences—some may prefer a more structured approach. For many individuals, multiple types of therapy could provide a good fit.

Is online therapy cheaper than in-person therapy?

Many therapists charge the same amount for online therapy as they do for in-person therapy—though clients may still find this cost-effective if it cuts down on their transportation costs. Health insurance plans often offer equivalent coverage for online and in-person therapy; indeed, in many places, they are legally required to do so. Text-based or on-demand therapy apps may be cheaper than traditional one-on-one psychotherapy; however, the practice may be less effective and is not likely to be covered by insurance.
