I work with teens and adults who are struggling with emotional regulation, especially related to anxiety and depression.
You are really good at seeming to have it all together, but your friends and family don’t understand why the worries just don’t stop. The thought of another panic attack can set your whole day on edge. Anxiety can be excruciating, limiting, and exhausting, and the inner storm creates disconnection in relationships. I want you to know that with the right support, your daily experience of life can be so different. Each client I’ve worked with is a transforming person who deserves to be seen, valued, and believed in. You can experience more freedom from fear, more calm, more peace, more control, and the ability to fully live again.

Do you ever feel like you can't seem to find your happy place in life? Like everything you're doing isn't working and you're stuck in a cycle that doesn't work for you? Most of the individuals I work with have struggled in these cycles for some time and are wanting to find a way to build a life they want to live. As a therapist, I help people identify what goals they want to achieve and create a plan to get there.

Wouldn't it be nice to find some peace? We all have times when we feel off or at a loss, and uncertain about how to find our way out: trapped in the daily stressors, challenging relationships, frustrating patterns that seem stuck on repeat, anxious thoughts, self-doubt, triggers that make you feel out of control. These are all common parts of the human experience and what we need in those moments is a little grace, a space to feel seen and heard, and a warm soul to hold out a hand of hope. Whether you've experienced trauma, feel weighed down with depression, or stressed out by anxiety, a greater sense of peace can still be found.

On paper, your life looks fine. Inside, not so much. Relationships feel stuck. Old patterns keep repeating. Trauma keeps showing up. I specialize in therapy for adults with anxiety, trauma or burnout that actually helps you make sense of what’s happening, break repeating patterns, and get back in control. At Rivercrest Wellness in Lakewood and Golden, we use the latest science-backed methods to create real, lasting change - not just symptom management.

FAQ - Teenage and Adolescent Therapists
What does therapy for teenagers look like?
When a therapist works with a teenager, the pair will talk about what the teen is struggling with and explore solutions, which may involve interpersonal skills, coping strategies, medication, or lifestyle changes related to sleep, diet, and exercise. Different therapists employ different modalities, but most involve a combination of conversation and skill building.
How long does therapy for teenagers generally take to work?
There’s variability in teenagers’ experiences and challenges; some may begin to improve from therapy within a few weeks while others may take several months or longer. Teens can discuss their progress with their therapist periodically to assess how they’re improving and any changes to the treatment plan that could potentially accelerate that progress.
How do you encourage a teenager to go to therapy?
It’s helpful to express your concern and love while framing therapy as an opportunity to explore a tool that could help improve their life; just like they practice baseball or dance, now they can practice their emotional skills. Give your teen control over the process where you can—maybe by weighing in on choice of therapist and signaling that therapy involves confidentiality, so a parent need not know all that is discussed in sessions.
How do you prepare teens for therapy?
You can prepare your teenager for therapy by describing what the process will look like and setting expectations for timeline, if requested. You can explain that the first session may begin with an assessment phase, that they can describe their experiences but that the therapist will ask questions too, and that it may take time to feel comfortable opening up. Ask how they’re feeling about the process and answer any questions calmly and supportively.
