My role and purpose is to help people find their freedom in order to find deep meaning in life and to love freely. The people I see often feel diminished and beaten down by many things including substance use disorders, shame put upon them by others, early childhood trauma and the grief associated with living. In my practice I help people learn skills and ways to cope with their individual issues so that they are able to live with the pain and not in it. I work with many modalities of treatment including Rapid Resolution Therapy used to treat trauma. I provide Acudetox to all my clients at every session for no additional fee.

This is where I come in! I love supporting people to break free of addiction , find relief from anxiety, depression, stress, manage life's transitions, improve self esteem, and experience healing in relationships.
Do you want to make a change but find yourself falling back into the same old patterns? Look no further! As a Licensed Addictions Counselor, I'm fascinated with how people change. Not just the quick fix, crash diet or band aid approach- but making the long term positive sustainable changes you have wanted! Whether it's procrastinating or alcoholism- we all have behaviors we wish to be different- but can find it very challenging to break these patterns that have become ingrained and reinforced over time. This is why so many of us stay in whats comfortable- even if it keeps us feeling stuck and miserable.

Addiction , trauma, grief, depression and anxiety can be crippling to experience. But even worse, they can be lonely and stigmatizing, causing those who suffer to feel distant and disconnected from everyone else - even though these disorders are very much a part of human existence. In fact, science tells us that most of us suffer through at least one of these disorders at some point in our lives. As you review my pwebsite, the central message I want you to hear is that you are not alone, and I can help you deal with these overwhelming and isolating issues.

Has it become harder to get out of bed and find joy, peace, and happiness throughout your daily routine and relationships? Have you noticed that the past negative experiences or trauma you have endured is controlling your present life? In times of trouble, how do you cope? Depression, anxiety, trauma, addiction , and relationships can cause us to experience many different emotions on a daily basis. Each day those emotions can leave us feeling very empty and alone which can then lead us to coping in ways that prevent us from being the best versions of ourselves.

I have several years experience working with clients dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, relationship concerns, substance use, and addictive behaviors.
My clients are looking for connection to themselves and others. Their current strategies to get what they want just do not seem to be getting the desired results. Ego death is the paradoxical intervention I teach my clients. When the ego dies, the true Self can finally be free from internal pressures to "try harder & to be better." You are already perfect the way you are, but perhaps you are having difficulty seeing it in yourself. Marijuana and psychedelic assisted therapy has proven to be helpful for many of my clients. I do not provide any entheogenic substances. Clients work at their level of comfort in accordance with all laws.

Addiction Therapists

What is the best therapy for addiction?

Addiction treatment will be tailored to the individual. People seeking help for addiction—whether with a psychotherapist, in an outpatient clinic, or in a residential program—should expect to engage in multiple types of treatments, sometimes including medication. For anyone recovering from addiction, avoiding situations in which one has typically used a substance is essential, as is the support of close connections. Since substance use disorders tend to co-occur with underlying mental health conditions such as anxiety or depression, those must also be addressed as part of any recovery plan.

How long does therapy for addiction take?

There is no set timeline for recovery from addiction. Patients and their families should expect the work to last several months, if not longer. Residential treatment programs may be based on a stay of 30, 60, or 90 days, with continuing work after release, but only about 1 percent of people are treated in such facilities. Ceasing use is just the first step; therapy to help maintain abstinence and effect behavior change must follow. The process of recovery, neuroscience has shown, involves brain cells recovering the capacity to respond to natural sources of reward and restore control over the impulse to use. Another definition of recovery is restoring voluntary control over one’s substance use and retaking all of one’s previous responsibilities.

How effective is drug addiction treatment?

Substance use disorders are treatable and remission is achievable for many who seek recovery; by some estimates, more than three-quarters of people who become addicted to alcohol or drugs recover. But that success rarely occurs quickly or on a set timeline; relapse is not only common, but many therapists and clinicians view it as a normal part of the process—not always a sign that a person has returned to addiction, but a signal that their treatment should be adjusted to help them regain control. Overall, research suggests, five years after the end of substance use, one’s risk of relapse is no greater than that of others who had not faced addiction. Other experts believe that complete abstinence is not the only measure of recovery, and that, through effective treatment, many people can learn to control their use.

How can you get addiction treatment for someone?

The most important factor in recovery from addiction is widely understood to be an individual’s commitment to change. For that reason, “interventions” in which friends and family gather to urge or force someone to begin immediate treatment often backfire; even when such efforts do lead someone to begin treatment, they may be less likely to stay than those who are self-driven. Still, family members can play an important role in supporting an individual who seeks help and can take part in family therapy as one element of a loved one’s treatment.
