I help clients regain vision for their lives through a holistic approach considering their physical, emotional, intellectual, spiritual, and relational well-being. My approach has been described by clients and co-therapists as compassionate as well as practical. I believe that when people are able to live out of their strengths, they will experience a greater sense of purpose in life and in their relationships. My specialities are sexual issues and relational dynamics, life and career coaching, and trauma/grief. I have helped those suffering from sexual addictions, poor body image, anxiety, depression, anger, and attachment issues.

Life transitions and challenges offer us an opportunity to find greater clarity of purpose, more meaningful relationships, and increased confidence and personal gratification. Therapy is a transformative process to create positive momentum during shifts in our lives. For 20 years, I have helped individuals and couples face life challenges and successfully navigate life transitions. Though each person's path is unique, our shared goal is consistent: to move you closer to the life you want to lead. I have over 20 years of experience in the mental health field working with individuals of all age ranges. I enjoy working with individuals and couples and utilize a person-centered approach, where I meet each individual where they are at on their journey towards wellness. I believe in the mind-body connection and the importance of using a holistic approach to building resilience and meeting life’s challenges.

Healthy relationships begin with you. When you have a full plate you may feel irritable and exhausted and that you and your relationships need some TLC. You may feel resentful and/or angry and you may not know why or you may be unclear about what to do about it. You may be listening and living your life according to your inner critic, which can lead to low self-esteem, loneliness, and never feeling good enough instead of loving yourself and having the freedom to be who you are truly meant to be. Your ways of coping may be keeping you hanging on by a thread, but they also may be causing you pain and not addressing underlying forces.

I consider my role as a psychologist to be one of great privilege. As I journey with others through the issues that have brought them to therapy, I often feel invited into sacred spaces, filled with suffering, pain, confusion, or one’s deepest longings of the heart. It is in these sacred spaces that there is also opportunity for change, for hope, for healing. My hope is that through the process of psychotherapy people will come to experience greater freedom and vitality, deeper capacities for love and creativity, and more meaningful and redemptive relationships.

Childhood, teen years and young adult years are full of confusion, exploration and growth. Rather it be struggling with friendships, managing emotions, depression or anxiety symptoms or something unknown these things add extra stressors in this journey, sometimes challenging certain aspects or everything at once. This is where therapy can play a supportive role in exploring these challenges and discovering together what can be most supportive to help you or your child reach their goals and true potential.

Events in life, whether it is experiencing mental health challenges, relationship complexities or a life transition rarely occur without stress. Adjusting to change takes time and patience and while this can be painful, change can influence personal growth and can leave one stronger, more confident and better prepared for what comes next in life. Sometimes it takes a neutral and objective person to facilitate and guide one through challenging seasons of life. My ideal couple is one that has challenging issues that they are ready to tackle. They want to learn about themselves and their partner and are motivated to implement at home what they learn in the office. They show up on time and come on a consistent enough basis to get the traction they want in the right direction.

Therapy is not an easy process. The client must examine and deal with their weaknesses and negative emotions that are easier to hide. When a person realizes that denial is no longer effective for them and that they are stuck in a circle of unsuccessful relationships, loneliness, anxiety and pain, they can be ready to examine the roots of their behavior. For me, this is the ideal client - a person who understands that they are suffering, who wants to change the reality of their life and feelings, who is ready to face their "demons" and acquire new tools for communication and coping with their difficulties.

I welcome all people, and specialize in anxiety, depression, grief/loss, life transitions, and aging issues. For those wishing faith-based counseling, my training in mental health and theology allows me to interweave principles from each. I also have specialty experience providing counseling for persons living with dementia and caregivers.
