Hello! Thank you for taking a look at my therapy practice. I consider it an incredible honor to support individuals, couples, and families through challenging times. From my perspective, therapy should be a fairly brief, direct and effective experience where you learn practical tools to better navigate your relationships and other dynamics of your life you may not be feeling well-equipped to handle. I believe therapeutic sessions should be dynamic and produce results. My education includes approaches in attachment and mindfulness.

I believe we make decisions based on the information available to us at the time. Our “information” comes from our interpretation of life experiences forming a narrative of who we are. When that narrative is no longer useful, no longer provides comfort, or no longer helps us cope, we may begin to experience symptoms of depression, anxiety, trauma, and/or addiction. My goal is to provide clients with a safe, non-judgmental space to explore how the past may be limiting enjoyment and fulfillment in life, identify coping strategies that are working and offer additional suggestions, and set goals that match the client’s desires.

Everyone needs support from time to time. I work with clients to find answers to questions surrounding relationships, sadness and day to day intentional living. As a Jungian therapist, our work may involve exploration of imagery and pattern and your individual expression. We may utilize dreams, sand and other techniques to access the unconscious, as well as some traditional methods all to address anxiety and depression. I am dedicated to assisting anyone on this journey with the support they need to achieve their individual goals in overall wellness.

My clients are often looking for something beyond skills, strategies and a diagnosis. I work best with people who are looking to really sort out what's going on in their lives, and who are interested in potent and lasting change. I also work specifically with people who are increasingly concerned about environmental issues or experience climate anxiety, grief or other feelings associated with environmental issues. As an avid outdoorsman and a Cross Country Ski instructor on weekends, I also frequently work with individuals from the climbing, skiing, mountaineering and other outdoor recreation communities.

I work with children, adolescents, families, and young adults on a range of issues, including depression, anxiety, behavioral problems, child sexual abuse, trauma related issues, issues related to adulting, divorce and adoption, as well as transitional challenges. I have been practicing since 1992, although I took some time off to raise our four children. I utilize play therapy techniques when working with children, as play is a powerful and therapeutic language for children. Generally, I approach treatment with sincerity, compassion and even humor to promote growth in a synergetic, trusting manner.

In a world where social links are easier than never, individuals may still feel disconnected and alone. For children, this alienation may provoke suffering from a human experience too premature to comprehend. Psychoanalysis provides a unique space, where stigmatization and standardization is lifted to give a new meaning to what constitute a fulfilled existence.

Renee Shannon, MA, LPC, specializes in life transitions, anxiety, grief and trauma. Renee has been in private practice as a life coach and meditation/mindfulness teacher for over 20 years. Renee incorporates a holistic approach to her treatment of her clients. She takes her extensive background in self-development, her corporate training as an executive in the IT field, and her training as a life-coach and teacher into her assessments and treatments of her clients. She is comfortable working with individuals from all stages of life, also including children, families and couples.

Adolescence and early adulthood holds a special place in my heart, because it is such ripe ground for discovery, yet many young people get stuck along the journey. I have worked with young people for over 10 years, who have struggled with social-anxiety and shyness, addiction, anxiety and panic attacks, depression, grief and loss issues, trauma, school issues, and complex family issues. While all of these can be horrific for the individual and families involved, the underlying resiliency present in each of these young people and families is the foundation that we build from in the healing process.

Healing begins when we feel supported by another person. I offer Gestalt therapy, with a foundation in Social Justice Counseling. I am acutely aware that power, privilege, and oppression exist at the forefront of all relationships, which is why my work with you will take into account the ways your identity shapes your experience of walking in this world. As a bicultural, trilingual woman, I am passionate about expanding strengths that already exist in you and I am familiar with navigating the confusion of holding various identities.

I want to normalize the importance of self awareness, communication and self love.

Our collective world & many folks’ lives have been increasingly full of change. Transition & change can create struggles as well as opportunities; we can navigate those together. I work with adults, adolescents & couples facing issues including depression, anxiety, trauma, attachment, relationship struggles, identity exploration, life transitions & more while maintaining a strengths-based, neurodiverse-affirming & gender-affirming lens. Some clients enjoy using art; others seek more traditional therapeutic approaches. Regardless of technique, building a compassionate relationship that supports growth is illuminating.

Counseling is a journey and admitting that you need help is one of the hardest and most rewarding things you will do. This is an active journey that we will take together. Often we feel that activity and movement will help us to feel better, but underneath that unrest is a range of psychological processes such as depression, overwhelming stress, perfectionism, and anxiety. Choosing to ignore your issues tends to make life more difficult and places a strain on your relationships. Through our counseling relationship we will create goals, set the pace and find your path of healing.
