I am a nationally certified master's level counselor with over 20 years of experience including, since 2014, volunteering with Tru Hospice facilitating grief groups. I offer counseling for issues related to loss and grief, depression, anxiety, life transitions, relationships, self-esteem, self-empowerment, divorce, parenting , emotional, sexual and physical abuse, co-dependency, adult children of alcoholics, and adult children from dysfunctional families. I have successfully helped many people navigate a variety of intensely emotional times so that they emerge with dignity, self-respect, increased coping skills and a clearer understanding of themselves and the lessons their experience has provided.

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor, Licensed Addictions Counselor, and Registered Nurse. I have 21 years of experience as a psychotherapist working with children, adolescents, adults and families. In my practice I assist clients with issues such as anxiety, depression, relationship or peer conflict, life transitions, behavioral problems at home or at school, parent coaching, divorce, trauma and grief. I offer an empathic space to support individuals and families to gain healthy coping skills, learn better ways of communicating, heal from trauma, and minimize stress. I provide play and art therapy sessions for younger children, and use CBT, DBT, psychodynamic therapy, and other therapy methods based on my client’s needs.

I specialize in helping highly emotional, sensitive children and overwhelmed parents navigate life's big transitions. Many parents experience overwhelm & can feel helpless when their children are consistently anxious, displaying out of control behaviors or regressing in their development. I collaborate with parents to cultivate healing through increasing awareness of their children's emotions and behaviors and co-creating age and developmentally appropriate tools for emotional regulation, that help resolve emotional conflict and restore balance to the family unit.

I approach my work with the family system is wholistic and humanistic focused. I work with each member to the family to capitalize on strengths to acknowledge, explore, and ultimately address presenting challenges. Families take many forms. Every family's story is different. Family members may feel isolated and misunderstood. It is our need for connection, understanding, guidance, support, and empowerment that is universal.

My passion has been working with people and helping them form healthy relationships with themselves and others. After years of working with emotionally challenged children, exhausted parents,at risk teens and their families, therapy has become a profession as well as a passion. I have had the privilege to treat the community of Boulder and Metro Denver, and have a huge range of knowledge of and connections with local resources. I have spent my professional experiences constantly being impressed with the amazing transformations that people with real life challenges can and do achieve with the right skills, guidance and dedication.

I admire people who consider going to counseling. It can be a difficult decision, and often, it is made during a vulnerable time in one's life or relationship. Then it is even more challenging to find a good therapist who will meet your needs. While I am an excellent therapist, I may not be right for everyone. I also have a Wilderness therapy background, having worked with at Risk teens and Families in a Wilderness Residential Treatment Facility.
