Much of the human experience is spent on autopilot, operating from habit. We can feel lost, anxious, and unhappy, disconnected with ourselves, not knowing our values or purpose. Automatic negative thinking, old family patterns and triggers can be on repeat. We often work, love,
parent
, and engage in relationships from this rather unconscious, unfulfilling place. Happiness can feel allusive here. Together, we can explore the process of waking up, to what's inside and discovering how to ground from a place of purpose. Come get curious! Please NOTE: I am an eco-therapist, I see clients in-person outside, or via tele-therapy.

Care is often sought to address life transitions, child and adolescent development, “sandwich
parenting
” concerns, relationship changes, stress, anxiety, depression, harmful thoughts and behaviors, and grief.
Life doesn’t always go according to plan, and transitions, illness, and trauma are typically not anticipated. Our lives have also been radically changed by the pandemic and social injustices. You may find yourself flooded with a range of thoughts, feelings, and unfamiliar or uncomfortable behaviors. Working together, we can explore strategies to address these concerns and develop greater connection and peace.

Please know that if you are struggling with mood, work, family, relationship, and/or
parenting
issues, you do NOT have to struggle alone.
I have found that people often suffer "in silence" and that this can greatly reduce your ability to see viable options to problems. Likewise, sometimes people continue their life feeling chronically distressed and think this is "normal."
Know that you are not alone and that counseling can help you create a better life by helping you create options and opportunities for solving life problems.

I am primarily a family counselor- couples, children and
parenting
issues.
These are difficult times. It's hard to find a place where you are seen and important! You matter. Your thoughts and perspectives are valuable. In thinking about your needs and your way of viewing the world, we will work together to define and clarify a path for your future. This new path will be a constant part of how we approach therapy together. By focusing on your needs and values we can find ways to heal your heart and mind with a sense of hope and health. I look forward to hearing from you and learning about your concerns as well as assisting you to make life fulfilling and meaningful.

Parenting Therapists
What does therapy for parenting look like?
Therapists may work with parents individually, together, or include the whole family to find solutions for the problems a parent faces. Many parent-based therapies work on a parent’s relationship with their children, problem-solving within the family, and analysis of family dynamics. Therapy conducted remotely by video may be helpful in allowing a therapist to observe how families interact in their own homes.
When should a parent seek therapy?
When behavioral problems begin to disrupt the healthy functioning of a family, it may be a good time to look into therapy. If parents find that children are acting out in school, have started using drugs or alcohol, have developed eating disorders, or other similar red flags, a therapist may be able to help.
How long does therapy take for parenting problems?
Depending on the severity of a family’s challenges and the type of treatment utilized, therapy for parenting can last from weeks to months. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a pragmatic therapy type that can be brief, most often ranging from between 5 and 20 sessions. Structural family therapy, which inspects family dynamics, often takes several months. Parent-child interaction therapy is typically shorter-term, lasting between 10 and 20 sessions. For any therapy, the duration will depend on the progress made and results realized.
Can therapy help parents dealing with burnout or stress?
Parenting is difficult. Parents may dismiss or conceal feelings of exhaustion, overwhelm, or escape ideation—imagining withdrawing from their parental obligations altogether. but left unattended, these feelings can have negative effects on the whole family. A therapist can help parents work on the skills they might need to better cope with the burdens of parenting and help them be the best parents they can be.
